I’ve been driving my 2010 Saab 9-5 Aero for over 13 years, and as you can imagine, it requires regular repairs due to its age. When Jiffy Lube in Vienna, VA recommended A K Auto Services in Fairfax to me, I decided to give them a try, and I’m so glad I did. True to what other reviewers have said, A K Auto Services is both honest and reliable. Recently, I had an issue with the check engine light coming on. Mr. Ki quickly diagnosed the problem as a failed oxygen sensor, and his team took care of the repair promptly and efficiently. I wholeheartedly trust A K Auto Services and highly recommend them for anyone needing auto repair.

We've been using AK Auto for about 20 years because they're honest and do good work. Every time I walk in, they check out my vehicle on the spot and today, they even are doing the work without an appointment. I really appreciate having them in the neighborhood.

Great business. It looks like a mom and pop store. This is a good thing. They are honest and friendly. Good prices. Won't charge you for things you don't need. I trust this place, the techs, and the owner.

Find a good mechanic is hard…
This lshop is by far, a lot better than any big name shop or car repair…
If looking for an honest car repair shop… give them a call… in addition, Mr. Kim’s life is amazing! Not only repairing cars, he is also an artist… his oil-paintings are beyond amazing!
Just sharing a bit of a nice short fulfilling conversation I had with him when his team was working in my car!

I have to admit I live really close to AK Auto, but never took my car here (despite recommendations from 2 friends) because I always thought I could trust the dealership. Boy was I wrong!After my car started revving without accelerating at about 2000 RPMs, I knew there was something wrong and drove the car over the dealership. They told me I needed a remanufactured transmission, which they would be happy to put in for $8200. This didn't sound right to me since my car had only 75,000 miles on it and I always did all recommended maintenance on my car when I was supposed to, so I decided to get a second opinion.I had my car towed to AK Auto and asked Mr. Kim to take a look at it. He added transmission fluid to the car (at his own expense) to see if it would make a difference and it started running more smoothly so he knew that the problem was not the transmission was not the problem. He recommended that I get a transmission flush. I was hesitant since it was so different from the advice that the dealership gave me (I'd just gotten a transmission exchange at the dealership 4,000 miles ago, plus they said the transmission flush would make the problem worse). But I reluctantly agreed. The transmission flush made all the difference, and now the car runs like butter! From now on, I'll be taking my car to AK Auto!

My 2012 Maxima failed it's safety inspection at another auto shop due to a flashing airbag light. I suspected it being an electrical issue rather than an actual airbag malfunction.I took my car to get diagnosed and Mr. Ki was very prompt with service. He hooked my car up to the computer, looked under the passenger seat, jostled the wire harness and the blinking airbag light turned off. The service, diagnosis, and resolution were stellar. The entire process took no more than 15 minutes. I was charged $120 for this. Based on this math, Mr. Ki charges $480/hr for labor. I was expecting to pay for service, of course, but the price was exorbitant and in my opinion, unfair. I wanted to give this garage a chance based on the positive reviews and proximity to my home, but this was a one and done for me.

I took in my toyota corolla in knowing that it needed new tires and potentially new rear brakes as well. Two of the technicians looked over the car and informed me the brakes are fine and didn't need to be changed yet. Hard to find good honest people like them these days. Most other shops would have made me do the brakes anyway. Any problems with my car I run into in the future I will be taking it here.
