I do not usually give reviews but this organization is very unprofessional, or at least the coordinators I have dealt with. Lois is probably the worst of them all. She is very rude and unprofessional. I’ve seen reviews of her here and I was convinced I am not the only one. She treats people like we don’t know how to take care a dog and she probably gets a pleasure from it. She wants to be superior and she likes to tell people what to do. I adopted Bonnie/Brandy a month ago and I just surrendered her because I experienced behavioral issues. She’s blaming me because Bonnie and I didn’t work out. Now I want to get another dog, then Lani came into picture. She’s telling me that she’s concerned that I am not able to add another mouth to feed in my family because I have a lot going on in my life. Wow, very judgmental. I probably earned way higher than her and she’s judging my financial situation. This organization needs to train their staff on customer service and manners. I will make sure this reaches the CEO or something.

Sue Bell was extremely rude when we simply reached out to inquire about rescuing an abandoned dog that came into our lives. Her “help” was simply telling us to take her to the shelter. Thank you Sue Bell for that brilliant advice.

Extremely unprofessional staff. Counselor was very ignorant on the phone. My husband and I tried adopting a puppy. We have 2 dogs currently one 13 and one that's 1.5 years old. We own a home and have a big fenced yard with a dog door. Only problem is we have jobs (differing schedules mind you) Was told by the counselor we have to work from home if we wanted a puppy because it would never get trained properly if we weren't home. We explained to her we have 2 other dogs we got as puppies so we have experience. Not only did the counselor be little us and how we care for our pups but said we were heartless because we wanted to raise a young dog instead of adopting an older dog. She also went on to tell us OUR dogs need to be in a crate if we are not home. She even referred to it as they need to " live in a cage if no one is home". We told her our current dogs are house trained well so we aren't keeping them in a cage. She didn't like that response and gave use a long lecture of how long she keeps her dog in a cage all day and why it's important. Our home is our dogs home. I'm not leaving them in a cage if there is no reason to. Counselor told us we were unfit because we had jobs and would no longer be considered. I'm so happy this fell through because I read reviews saying it's even worse when you get further into the adoption process. Sounds like they don't have the dogs best interest in mind.

We adopted a darling and precious dog from Homeward Trails About a week and a half ago. I can't believe how perfect he is for us. He's housetrained, well, mannered, incredibly affectionate, and the integration into our family with our 15 year old cat was perfect. Everyone we dealt with there was just fantastic! Austin, Ellen and all of the staff we had interactions with. It is very clear that they care deeply about the animals, and take excellent care of them.

My husband and I adopted our dog, Blueberry (formerly Amy), from Homeward Trails exactly a week ago. Our experience there during their adoption event was wonderful. The staff care so much about their animals and about placing them in the right homes with the right people. We’re so happy that we found Homeward Trails and that we left with our sweet girl!

Worst adoption process ever. DO NOT ADOPT FROM THIS PLACE... Lois is very disrespectful in her way of talking to potential adopters, such as myself. She spoke to me as if I am uneducated and as if I'm totally dumb on how to be a dog parent, after advising her that we have a 3 year old pomski. Lois is very unprofessional and disorganized in her process of dealing with people. She doesn't seem to do anything on time either.DO NOT ADOPT FROM THIS ORGANIZATION. There's other organizations out there that are better.

I’ve adopted several of my fur babies from Homeward Trails and all experiences were outstanding. We received some excellent advice. I can’t wait to adopt a sister for Cooper!!

I can't speak to the adoption portion of this organization, but the volunteer portion is unprofessional and disorganized. I reached out to volunteer, they scheduled me into a shift, but when I showed up, no one was expecting me, and they seemed unsure of what to do. Eventually they just grabbed a random staff member to give me tasks.During my shift, more than one person asked if I was there on court order. One even said they'd give me dirty work if I was.Looking past first impressions, I signed up for a second shift, and what do you know--they once again were not expecting me when I arrived, and I was left waiting around for more than half an hour as they attended to other things. In the middle of my shift, I couldn't find my ad hoc supervisor. Turns out they had left for the day.Overall, just bizarre. In all my years of volunteering at different places, I've never worked with an organization quite like this one.

Unresponsive, doesn't seem to have the animals best interest in getting them adopted which is unfortunate for all these animals My partner and I tried to adopt through this agency, with previous pet experience and a stable income/plan to take an animal in to their forever home. They never responded(it's been over a month)even with us being open to different cats, and sending multiple emails! I would understand if there were other applicants but you would think they would give us some other options and not just blow us off.
