I love the doctors and techs they are amazing. Unfortunately, the front desk personnel tend to be difficult.

Though a bit of a drive, I've been taking my pets to CAC for several years now. I hold in high regard all those who work there. The docs, techs and folks at the front desk are exceptional. Thanks CAC for your outstanding care and service.

Unlike experiences with other northern Va veterinary clinics, Companion was all good. The doctors, techs, and staff were courteous, professional, and very kind to our dog. We strongly recommend this clinic with no reservations.

Sadly, I am changing a review I left prior. First experience was decent-but it’s gone downhill ever since. My initial visit in March 2023 was based solely on the fact they were not requiring patrons to wear a face diaper. It was shocking to see how many Vets were requiring visitors to wear a mask in the year 2023. I thought the front desk staff was decent, nothing special but not that bad. The Vet herself seemed pleasant. They did try to sucker me into some plan like a cheap PetSmart would-this is a turn off-If I wanted a discount Vet I would have gone to a PetSmart. Anyway, aside from this they seemed okay. It was the most recent visits and follow up calls/messages that turned me away from this practice. After adopting two precious miniature poodles and bringing them in for their puppy check up and initial shots that things wet south. Numerous times I have been called with “meds ready”, “appointment missed”, “a balance due” on my other dog who hadn’t been in to see them since March, “No meds needed” and then another “meds waiting for pickup”. All these calls were wrong-as each staff member, including the practice manager were mistakenly calling me and mixing up what the vet had said. It seems no one knows what is going on. The front desk is chaotic-their records are all confused, which leads one to believe their care may be as confused as their staff and records. I’d hate for the staff to order the wrong meds for someone’s beloved pet-but it wouldn’t shock me. I’d be very weary of using this vet until they can get a new practice manager and front desk staff. The place needs to close, rehire and train staff, and deep clean. The floors are filthy-chairs are dirty-but the staff seems to always be talking (loudly) and hanging out. Maybe, if they talked less they could clean and keep their patient records straight.

Our dog has been a client at CAC for more than a year now and we are very pleased with the service and care he receives there. Highly recommend.

I needed to board my cat for the first time since he was diagnosed with diabetes, so was a bit nervous. I’d not been to Companion before but they had space for my cat. They were so nice when I dropped off my cat that I feel he is in good hands and I’m happy that they will be taking care of him over Christmas. Even though they are a bit of a hike from my house, they are worth the trip!

Absolutely wonderful doctors and staff! We have been clients for 20 years and have always received the highest quality care, attention, and when the situation arose, compassion. I think the world of all the people at Companion Animal Clinic.

We’ve been with CAC for a year now. The vets are great, but the best part about the clinic is their availability and the in-house dog training program.Availability - we previously used Banfield and though they had good doctors (at the one location we went to) it was nearly impossible to get an appointment less than a month in advance, even for something urgent. CAC and their great front desk staff make every effort to ensure your fur baby is seen as quickly as possible.Training - we just attended the in-house 5 week training with Charlotte and Elizabeth. I have attending different types of training with my previous dogs, one of which was an abused rescue who needed a LOT of work. This training was the most helpful I have had and the trainers were by far the most experienced I have seen. The basics are generally taught on the first week, and then the subsequent weeks work to challenge the training with the trainers bringing their own dogs. This is so invaluable because it gives you and your dog a chance to practice and then if you need any help with the corrections or dealing with your very anxious and therefore reactive dog (us) in real time, the trainers are right there to help you do the correct. I learned so much and I would recommend this course to anybody and everybody.

Today I had the unpleasant experience of talking with someone named, Wendy. I was asking for a refill prescription for my animal that was mistreated at this practice. I told her how my cat was mistreated last time he was seen & how he left with a huge chunk of hair missing from his head. Her response was “well if he was mistreated here why don’t you just get the medicine from your new vet” … when I asked Wendy if there was someone else I could speak to because she had been so incredibly nasty & unhelpful, she said no. She said there was no one else in the office. Absolutely disgusting behavior. I was calling to get vet records transferred and a final prescription so he is in fact able to be seen at a practice that won’t mistreat him. She didn’t ask me for the new vet and refused to transfer his records.I called back 15 minutes later & shocker.. someone else was in fact there to help me. So not only was she nasty & unhelpful, she flat out lied to me.

We have been going to CAC for a few years, but this was the first time I had ever been inside post pandemic. My dog is older and oftentimes sore from chasing squirrels, so I wanted CAC to do an eval. Dr. Megan Murphy did a great physical exam, talked with me about what she thought was going on and a good course of action to get my dog feeling better. She didn't try to up-sell blood work, x-rays or anything else. Dr. Murphy's demeanor was professional and caring. A big shout-out for Dr. Murphy and CAC!!

Doctor McGrath is absolutely amazing. My dog struggles with anxiety and when another local vet gave up on her (Parkway Vet) she worked with us and made a huge difference. I cannot say enough about Dr. McGrath.they are a bit more pricey but for us, totally worth every penny.

This was not my first time as a client at CAC, but it was the first time for my current dog and cat. Both times we saw Dr. Samantha Goodridge, who is amazing! She is incredibly knowledgeable and takes the time to explain everything going on and all the options in a way I could understand. Her manner is fabulous with the animals and we loved our visits with her!

CAC has taken care of our canine family members, Kilo, Annie and Roxieover the last 30+ years. Although there have been some changes there in staff and Vets over the years, the level of care has never varied. They obviously love our canine family members as much as we do. Thank you, Companion Care Givers.
