I brought my car here looking to get a muffler replaced, belt tightened, tire rotation and a battery hold down. After a day I got a call back and was told $800 for the repairs on the muffler and that they would do the other stuff for me so I OK’d it. Well after a week I get a call back that the repairs had been done and my total was $1,233.27 for everything. I asked for an explanation to which Rodger said that they ended up putting in a lot more shop hours than they had anticipated. That’s fine and I get that you can run into problems, but I would have expected a call at least to inform me about this. Rodger was extremely rude over the phone (as many of the reviews have said) and not cooperative at all, pretty much yelled over me the entire time.I asked if we could work something out since I have another vehicle that needs work done to which he said , “I would never touch one of your cars again”. Don’t worry, you won’t. I have never been to a shop where they don’t inform you about the cost of repairs before they do them. I went to pay for the repairs(which I had to pay for with multiple cards since I was expecting a much lower cost) and Rodger complained about all the processing fees I was making him pay to run the cards. Very unfortunate considering I’ve been looking for a trustworthy mechanic for a while now.

The owner was my night in shining armor yesterday when my van died at the post office. I had called a tow truck, but their portable jumper cables didn’t have enough charge. Roger just happened to be there picking up his mail and he jumped right in offering his help. He got my van running so I could drive it to his shop, then got my battery replaced in less than 30 minutes. Quick service, fair pricing, and very personable!

For over 30 years Earlysville Auto has serviced my truck and cars. When I had water leaking in the truck engine at 250,000 miles, pitting the cylinders, Roger was instrumental in getting the Toyota dealer to replace the short block at no cost to me. When I gave up the 1991 truck to salvage at 420,000 miles it was mechanically sound but rusting out badly. This is a testament to the good work that Earlysville auto did and does.

We connected with Earlysville Auto as soon as we moved to the Charlottesville area mid-year 2015. We have worked with them for now 8 years, servicing our 5th car, including a Prius, a Honda,a Jeep, a Subaru and a Cadillac. We're from Northern Virginia and are used to interacting with a number of Automotive service centers, over a number of years. Earlysville Auto is the best business we've encountered. Their service, advice and knowledge is the best we've ever encountered. We recommend them and their helpful, knowledgeable and friendly staff to everyone we know. Thanks to the Earlysville team for all you do for your customers and our community.

They've helped me with affordable tires, regular inspections, and most recently replaced the brakes on my Subaru. They are kind and thoughtful, and thoroughly explain my options.

I am a licensed aircraft mechanic, and have done almost all my own auto mechanic work for 45 years. Recently, my 2004 Trailblazer left my wife stranded in "limp home" mode near the airport, about a four mile drive to our house. It was running poorly, and I didn't want to risk any damage to the engine, so when we came limping into Earlysville I pulled it into Earlysville Auto. I had heard about this shop for years, and knew Roger and his team by reputation, but had never taken a vehicle there. As I mentioned, I do nearly all my own work. What it ended up being was a fairly complex electrical issue with the camshaft sensing circuit and solenoid. While diagnosing the problem, there were several other issues they were able to find (and resolve) that saved me quite a bit of money and frustration down the road. I can vouch for their integrity, skill, and most of all excellent communications. I was consulted on every part prior to them putting it on the vehicle. The overall repair cost came in hundreds of dollars below what I was expecting. As a mechanic myself, I can state with certainty that these folks know vehicles, and know customer service. I can't recommend this shop enough. What an outstanding experience!

Avoid at all costs.Roger and his crew definitely need to step away from this business. I’ve never had such a terrible experience at an automotive shop in my life. Not only did it take a week to get my car back from having a state inspection done but I noticed my car had extensive miles put on while it was there. This shop used to be so great and now it has fallen to shambles. All of the guys smell like alcohol and roger the owner is terribly rude. Do yourself a major favor STAY AWAY
