I had an awesome experience with Ms. Esther. I had not gotten my hair cut in a couple years because I have had very bad experiences with my hair. Ms. Esther was very kind, patient, and accommodating to my needs. This is the first haircut in my life where I felt like it was exactly what I wanted. The stylists at this shop are blessings beyond words!! While my hair is afro textured, at times I do qlue ins, which can leave our hair matted, dirty and badly tangled. Gina patiently combed every piece of glue out of my hair. She thoroughly cleansed both my hair and scalp. Im so thankful to see my REAL hair underneath that gunk of glue. They detangle my hair, shampoo, clipped my ends and reassured me its important to take care of you ??

I had been seeing the same stylist since 1998 when I moved to Virginia. She's a very nice lady, but she only knows roller sets and relaxers. I found Ester through a recommendation and am very happy. Ester is well versed on a variety of hair types and textures and can make reliable recommendations.For a long time, I didn't have a "hair style" because my prior stylist couldn't cut hair that wasn't in a straightened state. Hence, my hair was uneven. Ester fixed my uneven, dry hair and gave me highlights all over.

Terrible experience. I booked an appointment before heading out of town to a wedding to treat myself. The appointment I made was for a quick weave. Immediately when I arrived the hair stylist asked why I didn’t wash my own hair. Even though when I called to book she told me a wash and style was included in my service. Every quick weave I’ve had the stylist braids my hair down before applying the wig cap. She sprayed an insane amount of hair spray on my hair and attempted to put it in a ponytail under the cap. When I asked could she braid me down. Her response was, “oh yea I forgot.” I asked could I get the hair cut in layers. She became instantly irritated and said she was doing too much work on my hair for $150. Which was weird for me because while booking she asked exactly what I wanted and how many bundles of hair I had, then quoted me $150. I told her I had no problem paying for the hair cut but I did ask could she offer me the 10% off discount for all first time clients that’s listed on her website. She refused. After giving me layers she also refused to curl the ends of my hair ( which is the styling portion of the service.) Her response was I don’t curl synthetic hair. The packaging clearly states the hair can be curled but she said continued to tell me no. What makes matters worse is I had to bring my own supplies. She said her glue was dried up and she didn’t have any wig caps. She offered me zero discount for that as well. I left her salon with some much anxiety and frustration. All I wanted was to feel pretty and pamper myself before attending my friends wedding. This was the worst experience I’ve ever encountered.

Called to see if they could accommodate me because I don’t use heat in my hair. They immediately said no without talking to any other stylist. I even told them how to do it lol … I called another place moments later & they said of course ma’m ! You never know who you’re talking to & they could of got an amazing tip. Before saying no I suggest at least trying to make something shake ??♀️

It was my first time trying out Passion Hair salon at the 17323 Richmond hwy location.Hawa, a Simnatu hairstylist and designer, braided my hair a little over 1 week ago and the turnout was excellent. She was accommodating and worked with me. Would definitely recommend. Thank you Hawa.Hair braiding anywhere around the DMV can get super expensive, so be sure to clarify what you want done and ask about prices up front.
