Family rented a cabin for the week. Nice - as expected. The swimming area beach was covered with goose droppings. Disgusting! Others at the beach expressed similar complaints. We paid too much money for a visit for beach to be in such an unkept state.

We very much enjoyed our stay here. Plenty of amenities, the rangers and staff were very pleasant. The grounds were very well taken care of and our site was huge!
Very clean campgrounds.
We stayed in campground D site 6.
I highly recommend this state park.

Restrooms: Extremely clean and spotless for what I saw with my own eyes , I was at spot number 2.
Picnic area: Very clean and spotless
Not any traces of anything left
behind by anyone else.

Has 3 boat ramps, debris in the lake, west lake shoes. Careful water skiing, check with a depth finder to be safe so you don't get impaled by a tree branch or something someone threw in the lake. Decent fishing spot

We love Claytor Lake and the convience of camping there however this year we haven't had that good of an experience. We have always enjoyed the beach area, however this summer every time I have went we have had to step over goose poo to get into the water. The edge of the water has stunk, I worry about the babies that are swimming there. It would be nice if in the morning when the concession stand opens that someone could go down and scoop it all up on the waters edge.
The women's bathroom in site B is swarming with yellow jackets. We had to walk down to the other bathrooms. This wasn't just one trip but several trips.

Our annual trip to Claytor Lake is a family highlight. We rent a Funtoon from the marina for the day, grill hotdogs and swim. It's so much fun!

Restrooms: Showers, plenty of toilets and urinals in the men's bathroom.

It cost to much money just to get in the gate. There is not much you can do here
Playground: To small
Picnic area: Nice if they would not allow dogs in these areas. People let them poop there and don't clean it up . The ground keepers don't clean it up either.

Beautiful lake, great trails, you can rent paddle boats and large boats. Place to swim and a beach. (Separate cost, but very small)

The campground was great, quiet and very affordable. The beach area was not being monitored. Open beer, drinking alcohol in the water, profanity ect. Then gun shots were fired around 5pm. Thankfully no one was hit by these stray bullets. Police arrested the person that had done this. If the alcohol don't get under control, this state park will definitely not be a family oriented place to come to. Campground area needs to be patrolled more frequently also.
Dog-friendliness: Dog owners very responsible.
