Love stopping by this cute shop in the heart of Dayton! The Cottage is definitely a something for everyone kind of shop, from one of a kind antiques and vintage pieces to topiaries and house plants. The prices are fantastic and don't even compare to most antique shops around the area. But better yet is the friendly and inviting atmosphere! My 4 year old daughter even loves shopping there too!

OK, I love this place. Every time I walk in, I'm amazed by the eclectic treasures I discover. It feels like a stylishly designed vintage museum, only everything is for sale. The people who work there are super nice, too. The toughest part about visiting The Cottage is not spending too much money. I always walk out of there with something fun.

The Cottage, beyond its chalky pastel door and chic topiaries, evokes such a sense of dewy mystique that it should really be renamed "The Rabbit Hole". Self-categorizing as "vintage accessories, wonderful gifts & cool junk", The Cottage appeals to the Romantic Designer in all of us: ceramic rabbits peer penchantly into hand-mirrors; antique billiard balls lay in a bell jar like weighty fruits; teacups are stacked high, glittering as stately as an Italian tower. Simply put, the attention to detail is remarkable. If that weren't enough, in admiring the handiwork one languid mountain morning, I had the opportunity to speak to one of the two owners of The Cottage very nicely about Dayton and the Valley, who remembered me on later visits to the store. Such taste, hospitality, and inspiration is not to be missed!

My wife and I stayed in this wonderful little cottage in November, 2008. It is in the town of Dayton, just a few miles south of Harrisonburg. I found it online, read some glowing reviews, and found them to be very accurate. It is attached to a shop just off the main street of town. It is a self service cottage, with a provided continental breakfast already there in a basket as you arrive. It included apples, coffee, candies and orange juice. The cottage is immaculate, with a full kitchen, sitting area, private bath and a upstairs bedroom with a queen bed.The price was the best we had seen anywhere in the area, and we will certainly return to this place in any future travels . We HIGHLY recommend the Primrose House if you are in the Harrisonburg, Va. area!
