I wasn't going to post anything, but recently another bad experience has pushed me over the edge.First off, I had good experience with the service and parts department. I bought mowers and chainsaws from this location. Getting those fixed and parts or accessories has been good. Stuff got covered under warranty and no issues after. If you got John Deere or STHL products, good place to take get repairs.That said, I've had multiple problems with sales in the last years.I wanted to get a compact tractor or mini excavator some years ago and worked with "Greg" on this. I never got calls back like promised and couldn't get details. The price they wanted to charge was way to high. I ended up going with another 'orange brand' instead.Last fall, I needed an aerator for a job and Greg was again who I spoke with. He said they had one in another location and would get it in. A week or so I don't hear anything, so I call to see if it's in and guy says he never got it in and that it was still at the other location, but he can get it in a few days...I have to reschedule job. It comes in the next few days and I go to pick it up. I notice they had a used one right next to it and I was never informed. I discover the 'new one' is missing a tine and wanted that fixed prior to me buying it. A few days later, they add the missing tine and I realize all the other tines are used (the new one still has paint). Calling the manufacturer and I'm told that aerator was made around 2 years ago...I talk to Greg about it and his best solution was take like $100 off. I decline because after some research, I found that I can get a brand new one ordered to my house for hundreds less than the new AKA used one they were selling.Some months later, I am looking into getting a mini excavator with a mulcher. I called James River sales and sure enough got "Greg" again. He didn't sound like he knew much about the topic, but stated he'd call the manufacturer they get mulchers from then call me back. Never got a call back and honestly wasn't expecting to.Just a few days ago, I had a breakdown and needed a hydraulic hose made. Rushed to removed the hose and drove 30-ish minutes each way to get a replacement prior to them closing. I did this before with good success. On getting there, guy tells me they probably don't have that fitting (45 degree elbow JIC). On checking the hose in the back, he comes back and says actually one end of the hose doesn't screw on anything they have. I was confused because 1) both ends looked the same to me, 2) not too long ago, I had a different similar hose made there (by a different guy) and was pretty sure it was same fitting, and 3) my idea of going here for hydraulic hose replacement has turned unreliable (had I known, I'd gone to some other shop instead). I was recommended to check with BO's Hydraulics, but they wouldn't be open till tomorrow. I go home and check to find that both ends have same JIC thread and screw in the same so am confused.The next day I wanted to know what was the problem so I can call and ask Bo's Hydraulics if they can make the hose prior to driving there. I call James River parts and speak with a lady who saw me yesterday and said she recalls the fitting would screw on and that the guy who couldn't make it would call me back. Never got a call.I called Bo's Hydraulics who said the hose has common fittings and they could make it no problem. They make me a 5000 PSI hose for much cheaper than James River would have charged for 4000 PSI hose.So in summary, I'd recommend this James River for service and parts, but not other things. I must not be along because have heard others tell me bad 'sales experiences,' but they said service was good.

I worked with Anthony Rhodes when I purchased my new 5090E. He was absolutely great to work with. He showed great patience while I decided the best tractor for my needs. There we a few issues before and after delivery of the tractor, but they were taken care of very quickly. He was very quick to respond with any questions I had during the entire process. If you need anything I suggest giving Anthony a call and I'm sure he will help you out. I had a great experience and I do recommend.

Awesome Service Dept. Bought a Stihl 271 20" Chainsaw brand new from another vendor. Kept taking it back to that vendor after every use which it Kept losing the bar nut. They wouldn't fix it. Took it to James River and they fixed it under warranty and No Conflict. They even sharpened by chain at no additional cost. Now that's Customer Service. Best part, I've used my chainsaw for 4hrs straight with No More issues.

Excellent, courteous friendly service. Highly recommend. Went above and beyond what I asked them to do. Quality service at it best. Came to the house with mobile workshop and finished the work in under 45 minutes. Highly recommend this service to anyone needing service for John Deere lawn tractor.

Bought a JD 5045 and the experience of dealing with Greg Crozier was outstanding . After attempts at 3 other dealerships to buy a tractor James River Equipment in Danville was the only one who made an attempt to match my needs rather than sale me something off the lot that wasn't what I needed.Greg found what I needed ,procured it, and kept me informed the entire time. His follow through was greatly appreciated
