This stay was beautiful, clean, and comfortable - well beyond the value of what we paid, and Stephen was an above and beyond host.
Rooms: The Comfortable Queen room is a dreamy light blue and had a queen bed, futon couch, cozy linens and towels, a coffee maker, water, mints, and featured two tall windows with a quiet street view. Air conditioning kept up with the August heat just fine and did not keep light sleepers up at night.
Nearby activities: The heart of Main Street is quite beautiful and is walkable at half a mile from the house. You could follow a line of color from all the potted plants and the aged brick buildings shine. Even the alleys are lit and decorated. There are plenty of restaurants and shopping to busy anyone for a long weekend, and for more active types there is an adult obstacle course up at Rockwater Park.
Safety: I felt safe here at night.
Walkability: In addition to being easily walkable, these sidewalks were kept up well enough to support wheeled access to and from the house, though the home itself requires stairs. This could suit an occasional wheelchair user or strollers or scooters.

We stayed in the back cottage and will definitely stay again if we are in the area. Cozy, clean and well appointed. If your confused on how things work just give them a call. Stephen was amazing.

Beautiful house and outdoor space in a nice, convenient neighborhood. Love that they are pet friendly, everything was well organized, low key, and peaceful. Wish we could have been here for more than one night, and hope to come back soon.

Booked one night here with a friend while we were in the area for hiking and I wish we had been able to stay longer! West Park Gardens is adorable. The inside is beautifully decorated and filled with games, books, and other fun things to do. The back garden is so peaceful and well decorated and stocked with yard games. Breakfast was delicious as well.A short walk from town will take you to good food, cool shops, and friendly people. Charlottesville and hiking in Shenandoah are both driving distance as well. I will definitely be returning in the (hopefully) near future!

I booked a last minute weekend girls trip to the Shenandoah Valley in June 2021. Hotel availability was minimal but we lucked out because this is exactly what we were looking for.West Park Gardens is a self service bed and breakfast. Stephen, the host, provided detailed information on how to self check in and even emailed me the instructions when my service was spotty. I booked through booking.com but I believe it is also available on Airbnb. My friend and I stayed in the comfortable queen. The room was much larger than expected and included a queen sized bed, a futon, waters, and a Keurig. Basically, all of the essentials. The bathroom did have to be shared with another room so I would not recommend this room for more than a night or two.Free WiFi, free breakfast and access to living room with a large TV was also provided. I think it was a good value for what you get.

We could not have been happier with our stay at West Park Gardens. I contacted the owner, Stephen, last year to see if we could rent the whole property to stay at during our wedding weekend, and use the backyard for our welcome party. Stephen was excited to host us and rented the property to us at a very reasonable rate.Stephen is an absolute joy to work with and goes above and beyond for his guests. He was flexible when we had to reschedule our wedding due to COVID, he completed landscaping in the backyard in time for our wedding and ordered speakers for us to use, and created a parking map for us to share with our guests. In the weeks leading up to our stay, he patiently answered all of my questions and made sure his house manager would be on-site to help on the day of. During our stay, we saw Stephen a few times and really enjoyed chatting with him. He really loves hosting guests and is such a warm presence.West Park Gardens itself is beautiful. The home has so much charm and was incredibly spacious for six of us who stayed there. The rooms were clean and the house is well stocked, with snacks, coffee, and breakfast supplies. It truly feels like home! The backyard is lovely -- it comfortably fit the 100-120 guests at our welcome party, and looked beautiful with string lights above us and greenery surrounding us. Stephen really went above and beyond to ensure our stay and party went well, and everything went better than we could've imagined. We hope to be back one day and wholeheartedly recommend West Park Gardens to anyone hosting a garden party, or wanting a weekend away.

I had my wedding ceremony and reception here. Absolutely beautiful property and you can tell the host loves what he does. And it's dog friendly! 10/10

What a beautiful hidden treasure! We were looking for an outdoor venue where we could have a small rehearsal dinner for and stay over before our COVID-postponed October wedding in 2021. While we were relatively confident West Park Gardens would be enough, we were pleasantly amazed at how nice the house was, how large the back yard area is, and how accommodating Stephen was. If we could do it again, we would have booked the whole house for our family, since you share the house with other guests unless you book the master room: it would have been a great place for everyone important to stay, especially as it wasn't far from our venue.
