Colonial Heights Parks & Rec is home to Shepherd Stadium, a great baseball field and classic old style baseball park. It is the home of the Tri-City Chili Peppers, which is a must-see for anyone and offers great deals for a family. The stadium has amazing seating, including a section behind the diamond and a nice size covered or shaded area behind the backstop. There are stadium seats so no need to bring chairs. The staff is super great and goes above and beyond to help and make it a wonderful experience. The park also offers plenty of playgrounds and activities, picnic tables, and places to grill. There are plenty of restrooms, and if those are locked, there are plenty of porta potties. There is plenty of room for four-legged family members. Parking can be difficult as much of it is subject to foul balls, so arriving early is advised. The organization works hard to keep activities going for all ages of the community. A noted issue is that people often trash the park instead of using the available trash cans.
