I have been there twice. Both had good end result with two different stylist.
I have been to other Hair cuttery branches before. Only in the branch was there such a push to sell me shampoo and treatment. Both times I went to Hair Cuttery Clifton they put products on the counter ready really pushing me to buy.
The most recent one, the stylist added Olaplex to my hair without consenting first, then charged me for it. When I was sent the break down of the bill, she charged me two blowouts. You can tell that this branch is all about commission.

It’s like the guy has never picked up scissors in his life.
I asked for a simple, straight cut. Just take the scissors and make a straight line across my hair. So, why did they mess that up?
I walked into the store, which was empty except for one person getting something done (now I know why). An Asian guy took me in and asked what I wanted. I explained, and we went to shampoo my hair. Then we went to cut it.
The man sectioned my hair into one big clump while cutting the back. I know you're supposed to section hair, but he did it in a way that caused knots and tangles (I have straight, thick hair, so it's easy for knots to form). When he blowdried my hair, he ignored the several knots and used a round brush on me. Using a round brush is fine, but he didn’t properly section my hair, which caused flyaways and more knots. The constant air on my hair only worsened it as well. When he encountered a knot, he just ripped through my hair. He only started being gentle with it after I showed visible pain and discomfort. I think I left with more damage than when I came in.
After I paid a WHOPPING $75 for this cut, I went home and found out he couldn't even make the cut straight. Really disappointed because this place was so good 5 years ago.
Hair type: Long thick straight black hair

I'm not going to go thru the details but definitely not a good experience.
I will never go to that location again "
Union mills HC to be specific
Stylist: Stylist had no clue about company services' price point, and not pleasant.

The service is decent however the staff wasn’t transparent about the price they were going to charge me. They said my bill would be 40$ based on my length (that they saw in person) so over the base price of 27-28$, additional 13$ for my length. Once I had to pay they made me pay 54$. When I asked for clarification, they said they thought my hair was mid shoulder. When they started the service, they should have informed me that it would cost me more.
Don’t think I’ll come back here since they just up the price without informing and make us feel uncomfortable to pay after the service.

I had shared a previous review about my experience at this location - basically I was charged for the wrong service which ended up being $22 more than I was supposed to pay. The stylist did an amazing job on my hair I was just upset I was overcharged. My issue was addressed by the manager Shiva in a timely manner. She wholeheartedly understood the issue, apologized for the confusion, and she was able to refund me as well.Mistakes happen and I always believe it’s how folks choose to respond that leaves an impression - I really appreciated Shiva’s customer first attitude and will be returning again :)

I've had my haircut by Blanca twice now (Sep '23 & Jan '24). She is very personable and makes sure to explain what she's going to do to achieve your cut (i.e: where she'll cut up to, etc). I appreciate her checking that I am happy with my haircut as well and only doing what I am comfortable with. I'm not super picky with my hair but, if you ask for two inches off you will only get two inches off and not be missing a foot of hair - as I know some people may worry about. I asked for long layers with some curtain bangs and she definitely delivered. I did show some example photos off Pinterest. I'll definitely be back for my next cut with Blanca. Photos from my most recent haircut are attached.

I have had Oxana cut my hair 3 times now and have been pleased each time. Granted, I always want her to cut it shorter, but she really is adamant against anything less than shoulder length hair. She loves and is an expert on layers. She definitely transformed my long and stringy hair to wavy, bouncy and layered. I always want to have 4" shorter than what she gives me, but I trust her vision and haven't been disappointed!

Too much was cut off without telling me or having me face the mirror. Kinda pissed that I was faced AWAY from the mirror.

I have 2-3 memorably bad experiences at this location, a few okay experiences, but none that really stand out positively, I.e, I got exactly the look I went for. The two worst experiences were cases when I brought a picture of the look that I wanted, but the stylist just did not succeed getting even close to the look (curiously, even someone in the waiting area noticed and came to ask me what we were aiming for), and a different stylist had to take and start over. Today, too, I brought a picture - of an angled wavy/tussled bob, which should really not be a difficult thing to do. As the stylist, a Senior Designer II nonetheless, started to blow dry my hair and I was wondering if this is building closer to the picture and style I showed, I even said "You'll be making the waves, right?", and she said Yes. Then she continued to do what she was doing and at some point seemed to be done and handed me the mirror. What did it look like? Think Hillary Clinton's hair in the 1990s, but shorter and without bangs: straight, even-bottom bob with the tips curled down. I said but I wanted waves, as in the picture I had shown, not straight hair. So she fetched the curlers. I don't have good hair styling skills, but I do know that you curl your hair away from your face, not toward it, around you face. She curled it in, and focused on the lower part of the hair, not on the middle section as I think is needed for waves. We took another look. My hair was not shorter on the back and longer in front as I had wanted and what "angled" bob means. She, curiously, insisted that it was. Well, maybe it was when the hair was wet, when she had tilted my head down for the duration of cutting, and before styling, but not after styling. So she cut a bit more at the back and curled a bit more. I advisee her to curl the middle section of the hair and to curl outwards, please. The result was still a level bottoms look (my husband agrees) with some waves/curles, and a lack of symmetry in waves/curles around my face. I figured there is nothing more to be accomplished her, paid, accepted the stylist's apologies, and still left a tip. The stylist said something to the effect she thought I only wanted the cut from the picture. I'm not sure what that even means. I did not qualify anything about the pic that i showed; I even reminded her about the waves in the middle of the job. Suggestions for stylist: Confirm that you understand what your customer wants. If shown a picture, consider that s the desired outcome, as much as possible given the customer's hair. If your customer expresses wishes that contradict (e.g, if I cut as much or little as you request, the outcome will not be what you see in the pic; or - your hair is too fine for this hairdo), please explain it to them. Show that you have expertise in your field, help your customer. I'm sure there are some good stylists at this location of the Hair Cuttery. I just have not had the good fortune to come across them. The thing with the Hair Cuttery shops seems to be that there is no manager/host. There is no-one else to place your dissatisfaction with than the person whose service disappointed you. If you can afford it, you pay the bill, maybe even leave a tip, move on and wait until your hair grows out again. Meanwhile, I'm not happy about the way I look at all.

DO NOT CUT YOUR HAIR HERE IF YOU ARE A BOY.This place is full of “Seniors” stylist. The one who took care of me was the worst experience I had. I showed her boss and this lady the picture and the style I wanted very simple not even fade or nothing and she did a really but job for 33 or 38 dollars?? Naaaaa this place is not for men. Avoid this place if you want a fresh and nice hair cut. Oxana was my “senior” master stylist. A WASTE OF MONEY!
