Major tick infestation. Woke up at night with ticks crawling on us. Only six entrees on the menu for dinner and lunch. Activities listed on the website do not exist. There was no wine and cookie decorating, no wine and painting, the Tobacco Barn Cocktail night is only two nights of the week (which it does not state on the website). No calendar of events (they said they were out of them). Upon arrival the room had a pungent odor. It took 45 minutes to get us a new room, have it cleaned and gain entry. The grounds are pretty and cottages nice (however, I did have to clean the shower floor, it was dirty). They provide canned water. No glasses in the room to drink the water. So basically you only have hot canned water during your stay. The water in the shower was hot initially but ran out of hot water after 10 minutes. The two waitresses in the restaurant were very rude. We wanted to sit outside with other customers but she wouldn't walk to the far end table-only serviced the tables right outside the door.

If you are trying to organize group events on this venue, good luck getting timely and clear communication from them. I tried to organize a group dinner, we got one cryptic reply. Follow up emails were awkwardly forwarded with no real reply back. I myself have worked in event planning before. If space and/or bandwidth is not available, the right thing to do is politely decline rather than ghost. If you are trying to organize a group event or wedding, I recommend you go with a venue that believes in quality communication. Ghosting is what you expect on dating apps, not event venues.

When you stay at a 5 Star resort where people can bring there animals there is always the chance you can be placed next to a dog that barks for hours- this would not be ok in a 1 star hotel. I would not recommend and we will NEVER stay here again.

Refresh, relax and unwind in the beauty of the Appalachian mountains. An easy ride from the Triad, you can hike or bike (more than 14 miles of trails), ride ATVs or horses, shoot or fish, or just sit back and enjoy the spa and great food. I'm pleased that Primland still has that "local" feel despite becoming an Auberge resort. Most of the employees are from the area and truly love where they live and it comes through in the amazing service. I also like how they use and support local businesses like Nancy's candy. When you arrive, your room is stocked with local goodies to snack on and true southern favorites to drink like Cheerwine and Sundrop. Each evening is a delight as housekeeping leave you with a local "treat" with a placard that explains it (see pictures). I was over the moon about the olive oil pound cake! The rooms in the lodge are plush and relaxing and extremely quiet. The lights have various levels (welcome, reading, watching TV, evening, etc), the shower has dual heads, and the views...wow. The only thing that could be improved is the lighting and adding a vanity mirror to see to put on your makeup. The attention to detail is what makes Primland unique. The smell that they push through the hotel and your room always makes you relax, the bath salts by the tub are exactly what you need after a long hike, and the numerous fireplaces and outdoor fire pits (with S'mores) make it very cozy! We hiked the red trail (the hardest). It was over 3 miles and had beautiful views and gurgling streams. We definitely needed our spa after that. I've been to their spa several times over the years and I'm always pleased. Don't miss the complementary yoga class too. Now to food. We really loved the pub. Very laid back, high quality food, and great cocktails. Dustin even created his own signature cocktail that I think should be added to the menu and called the Dustin. The pasta special (see pics) tortellini bolognese was incredible. The bolognese was perfectly balanced and a great match with the tortellini. My daughter had the seasonal pasta with butternut squash and pumpkin seeds and it was delicious. The Elements is definitely more formal (they have a dress code - no jeans) but the food is worth it. The steak was cooked perfectly and the pork chop special was bursting with flavors. The service was so good...the manager was from Greece and we were asking about the island she was from and she promised to write down some information for us. We forgot about it and had left the restaurant but she came to our room to give us the information....we were so impressed with this level of service and can't wait to visit the island she is from. Finally, the Stables Saloon...this could be so much more....shout out to @voganmusic, Vogan really brought this place to life. How could it be better??? Don't close at 8pm (especially with really great live music), open the full service bar and have a dance floor. Now that would be a true saloon. The family style food is a great idea but was too much for my daughter and I and out of all the restaurants, this was our least favorite food...maybe because I'm a really good southern cook and this was just ok. Definitely make the trip for a balanced weekend of wellness and relaxation!

Great way to connect with nature and connect as a family. Something for everyone including kids (9 yr old child mesmerized by fully stocked game room). Archery, fly fishing, star gazing and fine dining were some big highlights. We saw deer, pheasants, quail and caught trout! The cozy dual fireplaces and relaxing vibe had me charmed for hours in beautiful coffee table books. Accommodations were incredible to come back to after a big day outdoors. Turn down service was an amenity that I had forgotten about after not traveling for many months - but so so appreciated. Huge shout out to Dally (Archery), Cole (fly fishing) and Carol Ann (observatory). We cannot wait to return.
