Update 6/25: well this has been disappointing. It has been nearly two weeks since I gave the desk clerk my postcards. Our next door neighbor received the one we sent her four days after it was mailed. Ours to ourselves and the ones my kids sent to their friends have not arrived. Mostly annoyed about the fact that our neighbor got hers but we live literally right next door and not a single one of ours has shown up. Nothing on Informed Delivery, either. Guess it’s time to make some phone calls and drop a few stars. All you had to do was your job.
Came here on Friday 6/14, bought stamps and the staff was friendly and professional. Came back Saturday 6/15 to mail postcards with those stamps and a different woman, heavyset with long dark hair, was there. I want to record our exchange here.
Me: good morning!
Her: says ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, stares at me, sticks out her hand
Me, handing her the cards: thank you! Have a good day
Her: says nothing
Me, as I’m walking out: you too!
Unnecessarily rude and if those postcards are lost and never make it I’ll be filing a claim with the postmaster against her specifically.
3 stars which will be edited depending on whether my mail arrives as expected, and because the first staff member was lovely.

Rude lady in the post office and treat packages like trash. I've had multiple broken, opened, and torn packages. Worst post office in America.

I mailed 5 tourist wooden postcards from this post office, dropping them off in the dropbox outside the building. All 5 arrived at their destinations water damaged, and most were almost broken in half. One actually was broken in half, and only the half with the address made it.

My mail box key wasn't working. I went to the post office and the woman in charge offered to drive back to my house with me to fix the problem. She not only got the box open but she delivered the packages to my house!

The most unhelpful people to deal with. Get a package without your box number on it they can't put it in your box, even if you call to explain that your name and physical address are linked to the box, they have to return it. No wonder nobody uses the postal service anymore.

Many of the post offices on the Eastern Shore are pretty plain, brick rectangular buildings. They weren't designed for architectural beauty, but rather practicality. The Chincoteague post office may not look like much on the outside, but inside, I found a wealth of information. The postal worker there, a pleasant woman, was so cordial and helpful. She gave me some history of the post office dedicated on 1963, telling me that this structure replaced the smaller post office which used to be further down Main Street because it outgrew the population, which is now approaching 3,000. There's plenty of parking and easy access. We came on a Saturday, and it wasn't busy at all. After giving me a brief background of the building, the postal worker was eager to show me the variety of stamps for sale. She spread them all out on the counter and let me choose my selections while we chatted about the designs. She gave postal workers a good name!Yes, this "vintage" edifice can use some perking up, maybe update the flooring, lighting and a splash of paint. But the brass mailboxes, the retro mint tile which I loved, and other antique fixtures add to the charm of this older post office. The hours are 8:30-4:00 M-F, Saturday 8:30-12:00. No passport services. Mailing supplies were plentiful. This post office is average in its appearance, but the affable customer service took it up a notch!

Local post office refused to deliver a letter size item to a local address. The employee in the PO was rude, confessing, and hugely unhelpful. UPS, Amazon Fedex deliver.....I ended up cancelling the orders rather than deal with this again. A little more helpful approach would be nice. Thank you.
