Another vet that cares more about money than it does your pet .

Worst Vet I have ever been to in my life. My dog was in serious pain and was puking all over herself and practically dying, went to this vet to get some help trying to figure out what was wrong with her. We went in and waited for 2 hours for the Dr to tell us what is going on with her while she was shaking and barely breathing, he was attending to every other animal in the vet but her, even when we were the first ones there. Not to mention they were carrying our sick dog around by her neck and almost dropped her, very unprofessional team, seemed to not care about animals. If you want to keep your pet alive don't go here, after waiting for 2 hours to figure out what was wrong, we were sent to an emergency vet where she died 3 hours later. Not to say he was the reason my dog died but having to wait 2 hours to get a diagnosis with an animal as sick as her, is absolutely ridiculous. I am not usually one to post bad comments, but I work in the medical field, and thought that it was worth letting other people know about.

I’ve been taking my dogs to this Veterinary Hospital for about 14 years and in the last few years they’ve been declining. They lose samples and are very unorganized. There are new employees almost every time you go and they are not friendly at all. I would hate to switch to another place but at this point I may have to. One thing they don’t seem to realize is with there mistakes it cost me extra time and money because I have to make a special trip.

When I started using this vet about 2 years ago they seemed to really care about my cat. They didn't overcharge me and do a bunch of unnecessary tests either. However, the last few experiences with them have been quite contrary. Dr. Valentine is completely impersonal, and he acts like he can't be bothered with any type of requests or questions I may have. I simply asked him to send some test results over to another specialist, and he just looked at me and acted like I was asking him to do a back flip. The front desk girls look to be about 12 years old, and they are always rude and unprofessional. I'm really disappointed that I will have to be looking for a new vet, because I really liked this one at first.

Confused as to why your site lists you as having Emergency Services available as when I called in a time of Emergency with my pet that was not the case- there isn't even a doctor on there on Saturdays. If you are going to refer other businesses please ensure your front desk is giving the most updated information - I was directed to Cary Street in CaryTown- which is extremely far in the case of an emergency and it wasn't even open- good thing I did not trust the suggestions and found somewhere much closer off of Hull street. Aware that your office does not specialize in emergencies, but I am putting this out there for awareness-to please be more on the ball about this for future potential patients-not to mention I imagine you are in the business because you love animals so why not provide the best help you can?

Dr. Burkey was amazing! We had our first visit there and loved everyone! Dr Burkey even brought some show and tell items in after my 9 year old told him she wanted to be a vet! Can’t say enough good things!

If I could give 100 stars to this place I most definitely would. Everyone is just so wonderful. Dr. Burkey, Dr. Grant, Dr. Valentine, Sheila, Angie, Tamia, Torey, Alexis, Hannah. (Yes I asked all their names) From the Drs to the receptionists, to the vet techs and their assistants. Everyone is like family there. And it really shows.I do not want to go into details but believe me when I say Dr. Burkey was there for me and my family when our little Layla was not well. It happened over night and sometimes you just have to except the fact that if something is going to happen, it is going to happen. HOWEVER, Both Dr. Burkey and Dr. Grant worked together to try and save our little Layla. Unfortunately, she was too far gone and that is okay. My point is they did not give up hope. They did not turn me away and they made sure I was aware of what was to come. Everyone was caring, kind, helpful, and so comforting. I can not tell you how GRATEFUL I am to have such amazing people taking care of my babies. Just like any family owned business, they treat you LIKE FAMILY. I see people are complaining about pricing but you have to understand 3 things. 1.) they are trying to run a business which is not easy to do in this economical climate. 2.) If prices are a problem then maybe you should have investigated a little more into owning a pet before you got him or her. They are like children. 3.) Always remember, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR and there at Bermuda Hundred I know my babies are in great hands.and if I am being honest their prices are not bad at all. If you really check around theirs are average with most vet institutions around Chester. The difference is the care and how they treat you.Hands down the best place to bring your fur babies.

Dr Burkey is hands down the best Dr my Amadeus has ever seen. He is compassionate, knowledgeable and honest. He ( not his receptionist )but Dr Burkey personally has called me with information regarding my boy. When I take Amadeus to see him, he gets down on the floor with him and takes his time and is very thorough with his examination. My husband has been taking his pets to Burkey for over 20 years and never once had anything negative to say. I will recommend Dr Burkey to anyone that will sit long enough to listen. Your pets are in good hands with him and his team. I have read reviews about him saying that they just want to make money, well I can say that without any reservations that couldn’t be further from the truth. I have been told a few times now not to spend your money on this or that when it wasn’t needed. So bottom line is if he just wanted money he would of ran any test or treatment I asked for and he didn’t. You can trust his word and he will do the very best that he can for your loved ones. Amadeus is proof of that! Dr Burkey thank you for all you do for your patients, you are the best!

If you are looking for a vet for your family pet, I can give Dr. Burkey a 5 star review. My family first started taking our cats and dogs to see Dr. Burkey when he first came to our area which was over 20 years ago. He has always guided us in the right direction to treat our pets. We relied on him to do so and we expected that he would be there when we called on him for help. But let me tell you about a special case: A dear friend of mine had an emergency with her dog where he was passing blood in his stool. She did not have a vet in this area. It was just about closing time on a Saturday when I called Dr. Burkey to see if he could help. We did not know the severity of Shady's illness but my friend was scared. Dr. Burkey stayed to meet us at his office. Upon examination he diagnosed my friend's dog with hemorrhagic gastroenteritis and said he could die from it if Dr, Burkey did not act quickly. Now here is the important part of this story.........Dr. Burkey had plans to go to VT after closing that day for a game but he cancelled his plans and stayed at the hospital all night with Shady (a pet that was not even his patient until that day) and with proper IVs and meds was able to pull her through.......Is that the kind of vet you want for your pet member of your family? Don't we all!

I brought my new rescue German shepherd here since the vet we’ve used in the past (Banfield) didn’t have appointments for a few more weeks. Everyone was really nice and accommodating.

I had puppies delivered at this location. There’s no longer a doubt in my mind this office stole my English Bulldog puppies, showed me an old deceased puppie from my last litter and said only one made it. Karma is something else Crooks!

We were potentially new customers (new family to the area). We arrived five minutes early to our appt and had to wait 20 min. outside. I finally called (couldn’t go inside, according to their sign, though i saw multiple people coming in and out) & asked how much longer. Was told they had emergencies and we had to continue waiting, about another 20 min at least. We showed up on time out of respect for their time, would have appreciated the same respect for our time as well. A heads up in advance that they were running behind so we knew that we’d be waiting or to reschedule would have taken no time on their part. The girl was very unapologetic and didn’t seem to care a bit that they were losing a customer so we’ll move on.
