I was undergoing a major kitchen renovation. Both my contractor and cabinet maker recommended Southland for all the reasons you can read in reviews below. They told me just call and can purchase everything over the phone- they will get you everything you need. I wanted a paneled fridge to match/ sit flush with my new white cabinets. They sent a black fridge that doesnt fit and sticks out over 6 inches and will not take it back. There is no receipt/ email confirmation (he actually didnt even take my info down correctly initially) so Im basically just taking this huge loss and buying a fridge from another company (paying again labor to panel) and just got a “sorry”.

Company at first responded well, then claimed to have performed a service which wa never done; applying a slab of wood he had had painted and left at my house.\n#1) he only came once and his office said there had been no return, with or without a board painted by him\n#2) he has declined in the past to do anything resembling painting a board for in front of the fridge: not an appliance job\nI can relate more. C

I stopped by Southland Appliance recently to have a repair done on my wine fridge. They are centrally located at 3905 Indian River Road in the heart of Chesapeake.The staff was friendly and helpful and they were able to answer my questions about the repairs that needed to be done to fix the issue with the wine fridge.Unfortunately, they told me that the price of the repair would exceed what a new one would cost. I really appreciate the honesty in situations like this, they could have made a bunch of money off of the repairs but they chose to let me know I would probably be better off just getting another one.If you are looking for an honest dealer to purchase new appliances or even to get your appliances serviced or repaired, check out Southland Appliance. I will never shop at a big box store again for appliances. I have purchased a washer, dryer, and dishwasher from Southland, yet I have never entered the store. I was able to do all my shopping over the phone! Everyone is knowledgeable and helpful. Unlike big box stores, if servicing or instillation is needed, you have a technician out to your house quickly. Prices are matched from big box as well, so even pricing is great (usually you expect to pay more at mom and pop places). Thanks Southland! I appreciate YOU!

Tech arrived with no mask and when asked to put one on he didn't have one, took fridge apart and left tools, left to get part without knowing if I wanted to have the fridge repaired, came back with part and almost 300 dollar quote. Fixed fridge and left no receipt and never told me his name. He was rude and unprofessional. I'm 95 and felt disregarded and taken advantage of.

I have never purchased an appliance from Southland. However, I have used their repair service three times. I truly believe that the refrigerator repair man provided excellent service twice. Recently I called about my washing machine. It made a horrible noise and the clothes were still wet after going thru the spin cycle. The repairman told me that there was nothing wrong with the washer and I needed a plumber because water was going behind the wall. His son is a master plumber. He offered his son's business card. I called my plumber who replaced pipes underneath the house. (The wall did not have to be torn out.) The washing machine still did not function properly. I called a different repairman. The washer needed a new timer and a new spring. The Southland repairman did not even try to diagnose the washer. I want a refund of my $89.00 service visit charge. I will never use Southland's repair service again. I just spoke with an employee at Southland. She promised me that I would be refunded the $89.00 service visit charge.

Excellent Sales, delivery and Installation:After waiting for over a year, thanks to the pandemic, all of our appliances finally came in. Rob and Joey did an awesome job delivering and professionally installing all four appliances. The prices were very comparable to the big box stores and even better then a discount appliance store. What convinced me to purchase from Southland was the great reviews for there service and sales. I can see why they have been in business for over 30 years, they treat there customers like family. If you want to support a small local business, I highly recommend Southland Appliance. Thanks again Rob and Joey, you guys rock!
