Very nice general store. If you're looking to save, come here instead of Walmart for many essentials. Nicely organized, well lit and clean store. The craft/art aisle is set up like a more premium office store and had a lot of options in pen color and art medium.

I visited the Dollar Genera yesterday afternoon. I dropped my wallet in the parking lot, another customer found it, turned it in, and it was promptly locked up by the store's manager. Today, after backtracking to find it, Dollar General saved the day, not a dime was missing and license and credit cards were all there! The clerk hugged me, I was to pieces!! I am so grateful for the kind and caring staff, it certainly could have had a different outcome! I love that store and will always go out of my way to go and shop there!! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!! Oh! I love the new "grocery aisle!"

a cashier tried to make small talk with me while i was at self check out which i do not mind, however the employee was asking me very personal questions such as where i work, if it was my lunch break, and worst part, asking me IF I WAS SINGLE. they were also still trying to talk to me and stood next to me while i was trying to transfer money to my card. extremely unprofessional and to be quite honest, very uncomfortable and unsafe. i don’t care how slow of a day it is in the store, you DO NOT ask customers questions like this when making small talk and you DO NOT try to continue conversation if a customer looks visibly upset. i will not be going here anymore for a very long time or really, ever.

Since it's been remodeled they make you go through the self-checkout if you're paying by card. Those machines never take the 5/25 or the 5/30 coupons. I do couponing and was doing it mainly at this store, but now it's no longer beneficial for me if machines are no working properly or if I have to bother a worker just to ring my things at register when clearly they are over their heads with other stuff. After the pandemic all DG stores have had trouble acquiring associates, it's a miracle if you find 3 at the same time. Sadly, they will lose buyers... changing the system clearly is only for the stores benefit, not the clients.This review is in no way reflecting any performance of the workers, this review is only for the system, the self checkouts and false advertising.

This store is located on Kempsvile road chesapeake Virginia 23320 and is accessible from Volvo parkway too because it’s on the intersection of Volvo parkway and kempsvile road. They reorganize the store and they carry lots more varieties of products they already carry and extended their freezer products area and carry lots more what we need in our daily life. I went there to buy car cleaning supplies noticed the change in the store finds lots more variety products and their prices are affordable and check out easy with self check out.the store carries seasonal stuff like fall,Halloween, Christmas etc and health, personal care,beauty,electronic accessories,office and school supplies,toys,party & occasions,cleaning, household,food and beverages, baby stuff,greeting cards, some garden accessories, and dollar general brands products. Overall prices are reasonable and affordable. The store is very clean and well organized. Customer service is excellent, store got nice big parking lot.

Since the remodel this place is garbage! I've been coming here several times a week for 7 yrs. I'm use to the employees saying hi to me and greeting me now no one says anything! No one is to be found the place is cluttered you can't find anything because nothing is organized anymore. BRING BACK JERMAINE!!

Very helpful pleasant employees. Even if they don't have what I need they take the time to check around and that extra mile they go to try and help means a lot to a busy person such as myself. Thank you for being a great team working staff and always making my visit quick, convenient, and enjoyable. Keep up the good work guys. I know everyday can't be stellar but you all deal gracefully and respectful even when some of the customers can make it super difficult and they can act very very rude. You all do amazing work and I will definitely be a return customer. Keep on being the wonderful mature employee's that I have come to appreciate more than y'all will ever realise. You guys rock!! Thank you again Stellar job and work ethic!!!

This dollar general is always stocked, clean, and the cashier is extremely helpful and cheery. I have yet to see her without a smile on her face, and a helpful happy attitude! Keep it up!
