This location always seems disorganized, the employees are not friendly and it smells weird. I drive about 10 miles away to go to another location about 10 miles away, and it's wonderful there

We normally order groceries from Whole Foods or Wegmans. Decided to try Walmart for what would have been a $40 discount on the items we needed. Would have been. Half the delivery was wrong. They also gave us items we didn't even order. Now I have to spend an hour correcting a Walmart employee's mistakes. I know working at Walmart is no picnic, but if you aren't capable of looking at a list and choosing the listed item off a shelf, best of luck to you.

Would give 0 stars if i could. Check out woman refused to serve me because i asked her to please check me out while she was talking to the previous customer who took 5 minutes to pay her bill. Lady and checker both started yelling at me. Then checker walked away. I guarantee this was because i am a white male and she is black. Manager was not around. Left my items and walked out. Will never go back here. Horrible or no service. Very long line at self check out. Restroom was a disaster area and smelled of urine and toilet was clogged.

I was in the Charlottesville store today to return an item that was bought at another Walmart. When I arrived, there were 3 ladies in line at the Customer Service area. There was a Walmart employee at the counter and another customer service associate behind the counter talking. The lady in front of me turned and said "We've been waiting for 10 minutes". I couldn't believe that the customers in line did not get priority over the employee. I asked an associate to see a manager. After a couple of minutes, (and after the lady in front of me left) the manager Steve came and I explained that there was only one customer service associate and that she had been helping an employee for 10 minutes. The customers should come first. He explained, several times, that the other customer service associate was on lunch break and I kept saying that the customer gets priority. He was very rude and belligerent! When I said that he was being belligerent he replied it was because I kept saying the same thing. He also said that if I have a problem I should call the 800 number to complain and that his name is Steve. He even held up his ID badge so that I could see his name. He never said "I'm sorry" or "Let me find out what the problem is that is holding things up" Nothing!!! I immediately called the 800 number when I got to my car and am awaiting a call from Walmart. This man should be fired for how he spoke to me. Walmart needs to train their managers in customer service!! This episode solidifies why I hate Walmart!!! I will never go back there!!!

Please note--this Walmart does not accept returns after 2pm, even though it is open until 11pm!! I went in at 7:30 pm on a Wednesday and they had nobody staffed on the customer service desk. The manager on duty was extremely unhelpful and would not even attempt to process my return. Management needs to staff more employees on nights and do better with returns.

Why does this store allow a Salvation Army worker to sit outside their door and play Christmas music on a boombox at the loudest volume she has? Not everyone loves to be bombarded with loud Christmas music. Not everyone is Christian. This offends many others with different religions. I tried calling the store, tried talking to the store manager (associates said they did not know where he/she was) tried calling the store from home but NO ONE ANSWERS THE PHONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the most disorganized store ever. Also last week no customer service people at the counter and the manager is talking with 3 people so I asked him about it and he looks at me in silence. The other guy said no one is there and he dont know why. They all had that look like a deer in the headlights. So no more going there. I noticed in electronics, a lot of taped up things look like people brought them back or broke them. I looked at a Hi Def antenna that was clearly opened, and taped back up and rattled inside. They got empty packs hangin there on the rack with nothin in them. Crazy place.

Literally was at the self check out and this little kid ask this blonde haired worker for help and she literally looked at him and said no. Then sent someone else to help him. Like I was never so mad In my life because he's a kid and y'all treated him like that. I don't even think she had her mask on. So I will only shop there if necessary

It's a shame that in 2020 a college student cannot shop without being discriminated against. Yes Wal-Mart a brown skinned people can afford computer parts, we can afford spider-wire merchandise. You guys sell the item and others cheaper, but I will never purchase from this company again. 10 minutes in and I see multiple people with cellphones following me, radio calls, to confirm i go into the bathroom and the manager follows me in, i walk out GO BACK IN AND HE IS RIGHT THERE BEHIND ME WARCHING!? (If that's not discrimination, then explain why you wanted to watch me in the restroom. (freak) any minority staff member that participated, I understand you don't have a choice when a store racist manager assigns you to do something like this, but please be conscious. Ask "why am i following this person. I didn't see them steal anything, nothing is separating him from the others in here? Nothing except his skin tone." they'd do the same to you. This does not happen everywhere, it's only happened to me in Charlottesville. I attended the college here because it's beautiful, but I've never felt so wronged. I wish those two guys watching me outside would have added checked me to prove to the world prejudice is stupid. This is something I won't forget, It makes me worry for all people of color in Charlottesville. People if you feel like somethings off, like you're being targeted it's because you probably are being. Do something to defend yourself. If I'm ever in there it won't be to buy, but to see if there is change. I should have purchased all of them, then went straight to customer service and refunded just to show how ignorant you are. Community stop shopping at this depressing warehouse, advocate to get the bus route to a little bit further and shop at Target (they show they care by carrying more diverse brands). Oh and the picture, 200 dollars your store blew and gave to competition (I pur a extra one just to rub it in).

I immediately knew Cville and I would jive when I realized the only Walmart is miles up 29. I guess that's what happens when a small town starts to expand--there's no room for a place with a footprint as big as Walmart within the town. I don't like shopping at Walmart ever, and even when I lived in a place with multiple Walmarts within easy access, I chose not to shop there, but there are certain things that you can guarantee you'll be able to find there that you can't guarantee you'd find anywhere else. So very occasionally I venture in. For instance when I wanted a bunch of white onesies for tie dying at a friends baby shower, or needed some new (cheap) clothing hangers, etc. Walmart has it all and then some. This Walmart is like all others, not remarkable or unremarkable. I've been met with friendly service sometimes, or very little service at all if I use self check out. The one plus is that it doesn't seem to be as busy as other Walmarts I've been in other places, so I never have to wait to check out, I'm in and out. I don't know if this is just because I'm there at random times only occasionally so I'm not seeing the rush hours, but I bet it's generally lower traffic because of its location in the city. Long live local markets and small business, but sometimes..Walmart is the easiest way.

I wish I could give this ZERO STARS. I am absolutely appalled with the customer service I have received at this location. I went to several different locations to find a specific 6-piece folding dining set for my porch outback and I called the Walmart in Charlottesville and asked if they had this dining set in stock and I was placed on hold and then they came back and said that YES they have it! Great! Let me drive 45 minutes out of my way to come pick it up! We get there and come to find out, they don't have a single set in stock. Waited for over 45 minutes for several managers to have to run around the store looking for this dining set that wasn't even there. Another couple actually came up to us with the SAME ISSUE!!! They also called ahead and asked about the same dining set and was told that it was in stock. CLEARLY your customer service is shit and can't do their jobs properly. I will never come back to this Walmart. I am absolutely livid right now. THANK YOU CHARLOTTESVILLE WALMART FOR WASTING MY TIME AND PATIENCE!

If you can help it, avoid going to this Walmart. We went for a couple items and realized we needed another card to pay for it. We asked the employee if they can hold onto the things and we would be right back, which they agreed. When we came back 10 minutes later, it was gone. We tried asking a couple people if they knew what happened to the bag and received surly responses. Since we were not getting anywhere this way, we went back and found another set of the paint we needed but it was missing 4 paints (in fact, most of the paint sets were missing a few paints or were completely in bad shape. The one we got was the most in tact). When we went to buy it, we asked if we could have a discount because it was clearly not a complete set, and they refused. I echo past reviewers that this Walmart is cluttered, disorganized, and dirty as well. It was not like this 5 years ago but it has really gone down hill. It is worth your money and time to try a different store. Other businesses have much better customer service.

This Walmart rates one star for a variety of reasons, cleanliness, customer service and product availability. As soon as you leave the car, the parking lot is very dirty. I don't think it has ever been power washed and garbage is randomly blowing around the cars. The cart return kiosks are full to the point that carts are in the next parking space. The carts are old, many in disrepair & need a good cleaning as well. It's a very warm summer day, so they are very hot from the sun. I head to the entrance to see if there are cleaner & cooler ones there. On entering the store, there are some carts but it is difficult to find on that is clean that I feel comfortable putting my baby in. There are some wipes available for wiping down the cart & I use them with abandon. On entering, I am greeted by a friendly greeter, but then she proceeds to run me down trying to put stickers on my kids. I try repeatedly to decline, but she doesn't seem to get that I don't want these on my kids. I am running behind in my day & just need to get some juice boxes and snacks for a play date. I need to get in & out quickly and also drop by the pharmacy to pick up a prescription that my husband called in earlier in the day. I head to the aisle where the juices are kept only to find that they have been moved. I search up & down the aisles, finding large bottle of juice in aisle 3, other juice located near the seltzer & yogurt at the back of the store, but no juice boxes. Frustrated, I begin to look for a staff member to help me & find two who are stocking the shelves near the pharmacy. They do not know where to find the juice boxes & try to find someone who does. Neither of them have a radio, so I am trailing after them with my (now crying) kids in tow. We go up & down the aisles looking for a grocery associate and finally find a supervisor. He doesn't know where the juice boxes are either. This is ridiculous. He finally locates them near the sodas & beer. He apologizes for the disorganization of the store saying that they are doing a reset (during the day, on a weekend?!) and that it is not complete. (As a side note, I feel sorry for these staffers as they are not well equipped to perform in their jobs, they seem to lack tools, resources and training.) I grab what I need & head to the pharmacy. My prescription is ready & thankfully I pay for it quickly. The service at this counter is perfunctory and efficient, but defiantly not friendly. I head to the self check out & to my car. I'll drive into Charlottesville & go to Wegmans or Whole Foods for future purchases. What a headache!

It seems weird to review Walmart because you probably know what to expect already. This store always seems clean but Walmart online grocery pickup is really the way to go. You get to benefit from the cheap prices without having to go into the store. Plus you can do all of your shopping this way & it isn't just limited to groceries!

Ok so I know it's Walmart and I shouldn't expect too much, but I just want to share a little story here. I saw a set of ramshackle shelves jerryrigged together out of pegboard and cereal boxes(yes, really). So a take a picture to text to some friends in the hope they'll get a little chuckle out of it. I pick out a father's day card then come back to that end of the store for some chocolate. From behind me, I hear an employee ask, "Can I help you find something?" I answer candy, but she ignores my answer and says, "You think I don't know you've been walking around the store taking pictures?". She's obviously mad, like she suspects me of corporate espionage or something? I tell her what just I told you, but she doesn't get it. I try to show her the shelves but she doesn't get it. She just keeps angrily pressing me for information like "Why would you do that?" "What's wrong with those shelves?" "Why is that funny?". This goes on for a while. I answer all her questions but she's still angry, and hasn't even explained what she wants from me. I don't know if she wants me to keep explaining to convince her I'm not lying, or delete the pictures, or leave the store, or what. She doesn't say if the problem is that I'm being suspicious, or breaking some unspoken Walmart rule, or breaking the law. She's just berating me into trying to explain a stupid one-off joke. "That's not funny" she says. I have no idea what she wants from me at this point, because apparently all the answers I have to her questions are unsatisfactory. Trying to figure out why I'm being yelled at, I ask "Is it illegal to take pictures here?". She says yes(which is a lie, by the way). So in an effort to defuse the situation I tell her as politely as I can that I won't take any more pictures. Then she points me to the candy she was originally pretending to help me find.
