Terrible Store, Pharmacy and Managers!

July 2024 by Andrew Cook
ZERO STARS!!!!! I hope this store is one of the Walgreens that will be closed permanently!!!!! Managers are horrible! Pharmacy is the worst in the country! The bathrooms are sickening! The Store Manager Philip made me feel very uncomfortable (of course that might have something to do with a video being shared from an employee of him making out with Shrek on his Social Media). I will be reaching out to the Better Business Bureau and NBC29 News to report this store and their management! Absolutely disgusting!

I only have more bad things to say with this update. I gave them another chance since the one thing they have going for them is that they always have medications in stock.
I called them a week in advance to make sure my prescription would be ready as I drove by on my way out of town. I was reassured it would be.
Walked into the location a few days later because I didn't have confidence they had all the details right. They reassured me they could fill it on time, but that I would have to call the pharmacy the next day to ensure they do. I'm not sure why my presence at the counter wasn't sufficient notice for them to do this.
Got there the day of, they say they don't have it. I call my doctor and he says it was sent weeks before and that the pharmacy confirmed receipt. The pharmacy then tells me maybe they just never got it. However, I had picked up another medication that was part of the same order previously, so that didn't check out. My suspicion is that somebody at Walgreens accidentally canceled it, thinking it was a duplicate, and then didn't want to admit it.
I call my doctor again and they say they definitely sent it. Called the pharmacy, nope, they don't have it. Let me pause here to give a lesson to everyone who works in customer service:
By the time your customer starts making back-and-forth calls between you and a third party who interacts with you--tell the customer not to worry, and that you will actually own the problem and make the necessary phone calls. Don't just say "we don't have it." And then treat the situation as if there is nothing you can do.
In fact, the moment your customer says they have a problem, try sticking with it until it's resolved. The very first time I called and discovered they didn't have the script and I didn't know why, they should have called my doctor. If he didn't answer, try again.
---old review below---
Terrible. The pharmacist snooped about why I was taking my medication (none of his business but he's holding the meds hostage so I told him). Called in hours before pickup to ensure it would be ready and was told they would be, by 2:00. Took off work to get there at 2:00 and it wasn't ready. It was apparently too early for the refill (which is fine, but don't tell me initially it will be ready). The pharmacist then treated me like a complete idiot because the techs kept changing their minds and saying they could fill it, and I stuck around--which he interpreted to meanI wasn't taking no for an answer. The techs were terrible communicators and kept telling me they made a mistake and to wait for the script to be filled, and then having the pharmacist come over to me and be condescending as if I hadn't just been told to wait.
He started asking very personal questions that only doctors should be asking. He was acting like I was panicking for not having the refill, but I was only still there because thrice the tech said they were, in fact, filing it. I'm sorry if this is harsh, but half of the pharmacist's function is to be an intermediary to the messed up insurance system, and half to explain details about the meds to customers who don't read the copius info stapled to their scripts. He has no business trying to tell me if I do or don't need the meds--that's up to my doctor.
Avoid this place unless you want to run the risk of the pharmacist snooping into why you take your meds.
Almost as an afterthought to this, they still didn't have it ready the next day. Nobody had thought to get it ready, despite be being there the day before and saying I'd be back in the morning to pick it up (they said okay). Also, the drive thru was closed for an unexplained reason.
The terrible staff and dnooping pharmacist were there on Tue, 3/22. The

I was in this store today doing some shopping. I witnessed one of the store managers whose name tag said Megan, rudely speaking to another employee! It was absolutely disgusting, as nobody should be spoken to that way ever! Especially the middle of the store and in front of everyone. After Megan was done belittling this employee, I decided to ask the other employee for assistance with finding hand sanitizer (there was no way I was asking Megan for help) She was super sweet and professional! Which made me even more upset that she had just been spoken to that way! She was able to still assist in such a professional and kind manner. Her name was Teresa. Please teach your managers how to manage and treat your people well! Thank you Teresa for your help! I will be sure to contact the corporate office in regards to this issue and make sure that Teresa gets the praise she deserves!

I felt extremely disregarded and not prioritized at this location. As a veteran of the US, I have been all over the country and for the first time ever waited 50 minutes for two common prescriptions. An employee lied about being a manager, only to hear my concern and then reveal she is only a shift leader IN TRAINING. That same associated neglected to ask me if I wanted to purchase a bag for my PERSONAL items, and instead handed them to me with no eye contact. Nor did she greet me. However, Phillip the actual manager came through with amazing hospitality and compassion. Thanks Phillip!

I want to start off by saying that I don’t ever post my dissatisfaction of services unless I think it is strongly warranted. I went to the Walgreens on pantops during the store opening hours (8:00) to find out their pharmacy doesn’t open until 10:00, so I traveled all the way to the other side of Charlottesville to find out this one doesn’t have any pharmacists that administer vaccines, so now I have to travel all the way back to the other store to wait another hour for their pharmacy to open, I work an overnight shift so I am unable to do this during any other part of the day. I am genuinely disconcerted for the lack of professionalism of both of these stores and hope that there is change that comes with both staffing and hours of these locations.

Caring and personable help under very trying short staffed conditions. I appreciate both the pharmacist and the front checker who was extra kind.

Really irritating that I called a prescription in maybe 3 days ago and it said it went through. And now the pharmacy is temporarily closed. It's not like I can just go without my medication. Would be nice if they told their customers this ahead of time

The worst possible drug store. You can’t count on them to be open when they say they are. Switching to CVS!

Recommend choosing somewhere else for a vaccine. Made an appointment through their portal a week out. The day of the appointment they canceled because the pharmacist didn't show up to work. Told me to come back they next day for a walk-in appointment. Came back the next day and the store manager said the pharmacist was backed up and wasn't doing any vaccines. Pretty frustrating to take several hours off of work for this.

Horrible experiences at the pharmacy. Only here because my usual place was out of stock. Never again. Same med 2x from my favorite place across 29. Grabbed a soft drink on the way out. Clerk was wrestling with a customer, I just laid $$ on the counter and walked out. The place is dump. Shelves disheveled, no stock. Read the other reviews.Only one star because there is no lower.

Pharmacy does not answer the phone. My doctor could not get through. You get the same voicemail. Stating there are more than 3 callers ahead of you.
