i am visiting virginia for the very first time and wasn’t as impressed as i wanted to be after visiting the roses in charlottesville because the manager was very rude and disrespectful. i found an item that had a posted sticker of 19.99 it was a nerf outdoor play set and when the employee ray who was amazing by the way came to check the sticker said $19.99 but when scanned it said $199.99 now in maryland by law if there is a posted sticker on an item you have to sell it for that price the manager again was extremely rude and i will probably never visit this location again

This was a nice find while visiting Charlottesville. Good prices for decent items, but it can use some organization and a cleaning. Other than that,it's a good discount store.

I was in roses mid day , walking in , and noticed several women carrying large purses and bags with no problem, but about 20 ft in, and I hear one of the several employees huddled around a register gossiping instead of working, suddenly yell at me to leave my backpack up front. If women aren't comfortable leaving their purses at the front , why would i be comfortable leaving my bag? my bag or their purse could just as easily conceal merchandise, so the policy makes no sense. That you have 3 employees hanging out gossiping at one register, not helping anyone, not ringing up purchases, and still collecting hourly, speaks to their character and the management's apathy. The fact that the staff has so little respect for customers that they will yell across a store at them, like the customer is a shop lifter, while arbitrarily enforcing a nonsensical policy also shows that there is a problem with management, staff and/or staff training. To be fair, i'm not sure if i was singled out for my race, for my gender, maybe they assumed i'm a drug addict based on my looks, or maybe the employee feels like they aren't empowered at home so they wanted to flex their muscles. regardless, this is just too much of a garbage store to give it a second chance. shop anywhere else folks, no matter what store you pick, you will pick a better one.

UPDATE:Roses had seemed to work on quite a few things since my previous review. They have much better organization and over all cleanliness of the store. The cashiers were all friendly. The bathrooms however are still closed. I’m not sure if it’s because they’re so disgusting or actually broken.OLD REVIEW:Associates ignore customers, except for the older gentleman who is a greeter. They will watch you just standing in line waiting to be rung up and ignore you. I've left my items because no one would ring up my stuff a couple of times. The bathrooms are always closed. I'm positive the employees go next door when they have to go. The store is usually a mess too. Listen up Roses, pay your employees a decent wage so they'll actually do their job, fix the nasty bathrooms, and organize this store!

Oh Roses, Kmart's weirder, more dollar store like little cousin. Why do they always look like they are 3 days into a going out of business sale? They have some really cool, inexpensive stuff here for sure. All of the employees look like they just got out of rehab and are slightly confused about what year it is. Still worth a stop of you need some random thing.. they will probably have it for cheaper than Walmart.

A big shout out to Mike Ridley, a Roses' employee who tried so hard to find some lids for large plastic bin storage containers. He really made my shopping experience at Roses a pleasure. And then he helped me out with my bins. Had I had money with me, I would have tried to tip him. Great place to find deals.

Great customer service prices are a bit much for a five and dime store on some items

I love this store for the variety of foods to household products they carry but so many things I looked at didn’t have a price and I can’t be bothered to go find anyone. The people that work here are always super friendly.

No mask on at least one or two different cashiers at a time each time I went. This was the end of November when the state orders were in effect all customers are wearing masks but several workers on floor two cashiers with ZERO mask.
