Went in for a state inspection. They told me I needed new brake rotors and pads all around for a thousand bucks. I declined, they failed the car, and I brought it to Crown Acura in Richmond. No brake work required - passed inspection w flying colors.

Totally incompetent technicians when any detail involved. State inspection rejected due to misaligned check box on previous inspection sticker....this task does not require any ability other than to align the printed lines with the corresponding check box.

Believe the reviews, the bad reputation is unfortunately earned. They seem nice enough but they overprice to scam people. It's a shame, there are more honest mechanics in Charlottesville.

I made an appointment for 10 am with no appointments on the schedule the night before and then I went. I sat for maybe for 2 to 3 hrs for a simple oil change. I didn't even get the oil change my car was still in the lot from where I parked it originally. If I had any advice I would not go to this location and instead go to the jiffy lube or even do it yourself at this point.

We had a flat on I64 and needed a replacement tire as soon as they could as we had 3 more hours of driving left. They ordered the tire and had it installed in the time they estimated. Everyone was knowledgeable and helpful. Good folks who took good care of us!

If I could give zero stars I would. They somehow always "find" issues and fail to do the little things, like putting valve caps on new tires. To go along with this level of car service their customer service is just as atrocious and almost as helpful as talking to a wall. I would recommend literally anywhere else to someone considering bringing their car in for service.

Pantops location: dropped my car off Saturday morning about 8:30AM in hopes of getting a walk-in inspection/oil change. They didn't manage to fit it in and do the work--which is fine, I totally understand. BUT NO ONE CALLED TO TELL ME THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GET IT DONE AND DID I WANT TO COME PICK IT UP. No, I do not want to leave my car in your wide-open lot overnight Sat, all day Sunday during an ice storm, all day Monday which is a holiday, to MAYBE get it back on Tuesday. I cannot believe this business did not provide the most basic courtesy of letting me know that it was not likely they'd get it done and ask me if I wanted to leave it overnight or pick it up. Completely no effort towards customer service. I went down with my second set of keys, picked it up in the dark, and brought it back home. I will not use this business again.

Don't use the Seminole location they could care less about customers. Their front desk people just know how to say, it will be two hours. you call 2 hours later and it will be two hours. The Tire store 1 mile up from them saw the issue in 30 seconds, not kidding 30 seconds while Seminole had mine for 6 hours and never even walked around it. Cost me renting a vehicle for two days and lots of travel back and forth time. Stay away from this location until they get some real workers in there.

I couldn’t ask for a better mechanic. I drive a 2008 Mercedes bluetec and it’s much better then taking to the dealership! I appreciate everything they have done for my car. Highly recommend this company. They even come out to you!!

Really unprofessional service. They did not know how to use fleet service, they took two days to do an oil change and they never called me when the oil change was done. I had to call them 4 times over a 2 day period just to get my oil changed. I will never go back and have warned all my neighbors about them

I sent my daughter to University Tire & Auto prior to leaving for college for an oil change and tire rotation. Shortly after she left for her appointment I received a frantic call from her. She was told she needed breaks, rotors, and her tires were going bald. To get their point home they followed their "recommendation" up with telling her they couldn't assure her safety upon leaving if she didn't get them replaced THAT day. I purchased the "recommended" breaks and rotors and had my mechanic look at her car within 24 hours. He took the old breaks off and showed me a side by side comparison, you literally COULD NOT tell the difference other than the ones that had been on her car had debris from break dust. The rotors showed no signs of wear. The tires had tread, the back two were only 6 months old, the front tires I was told were good and would clearly pass inspection. Shame on you University Tire for trying to take advantage of a young girl! The estimate they gave her was nearly $1,000!

I have brought two cars here over the last year for a) tire rotation and b) flat repair and c) tire replacement. I'll begin by saying that the service is nothing but courteous and professional. Unlike other places their quotes are accurate and they don't "jack up" prices with hidden charges. Likewise, they will give you honest estimations about how long the work will take, not trying to lure you in with false promises of "oh, we'll get you out of here in no time".Most importantly, they rotate tires for FREE...and I'm not talking about service only on tires that you bought from them. They did this (and promise to keep doing so) for both my cars well before I ever purchased any tires from them. Further, I've had a flat tire (slow leak) that took them about a good 1/2 hour or more to fix and....zero charge and no strings attached. Finally, I needed to replace two front tires on my Prius and they told me the exact cost, which was 10% cheaper than a competitor in town, and they ordered the tires, which arrived the next day as promised and mounted them and balanced them EXACTLY at the price that they quoted while NOT trying to sell me a set of 4 as most places do. In fact, they said that my back tires were perfectly fine and reminded me to come back for my ongoing free tire rotations. Oh, I forgot to add that they wear masks responsively, have hand sanitizer at the two service areas and they wash and handle even your credit card with CDC guideline type care. One of the managers, to boot, is totally bilingual in Spanish so any of my latino friends would feel really welcome coming here. I rarely give out 5 stars but this particular place deserves it.

Emailed to schedule a state inspection appointment on Thursday. They replied, saying there is no appointment for state inspection, and it is first come first serve. I asked when do they open on Saturday and they said 8am.On Saturday, I arrived around 7.55am and waited in front of their inspection bay. There were at least 3 employees there at the moment. No one bothers to reach out to me. I thought that is fine because technically they are still not opened. At 8.10am, a guy approached. He said state inspection is fully booked. I am confused because they said state inspection is first come first serve. He explained there were 8 cars having a night drop off yesterday.1) if that is considered as "first come first serve", they failed to mention that in the email. 2) they let me wait for 15 minutes before approaching and telling me that. They saw I was waiting right in front of the inspection bay at the very beginning. Conclusion: terrible customer service, terrible communication, terrible attitude. Just moved back to Virginia and new to Charlottesville and based on the way they do business, God bless. I will never come back nor having any positive to say about this place to my friends. It is simply horrible.

I purchased a set of new tires and their alignment machine wasn't working and was asked to return another day. I called yesterday to see if it was working and it was. I asked about coming in today when they opened at 7 and to be first in line and they'd do it right away. I arrived before 7 only to be told I needed to leave it or come back at 9. When someone in your company speaks they speak for the entire company. The person there simply didn't care what anyone else might have said and can't be responsible for whatever they said. Terrible customer consideration. Find people that know what service means.
