No one ever answers the phone. Today Friday 5th January I have called multiple times because I had questions, and within their open hours (which are inaccurate, because they say they close at 9pm and I have called at 7pm, and 7:30pm and now 8:23pm) and all you get is a lame answering machine. I guess they're too lazy or entitled to even pick up a phone. I don't trust a business that doesn't answer phones and doesn't honor their stated hours.

I've been to a lot of bookstores and this one is my favorite! It is almost as if the store was curated for me and my wife. We could have spent all day in there and the next time we are in Charlottesville we will! I walked in and instantly noticed this book calling to me on the shelf. There were many others I would have liked to purchase as well! A fantastic store and we can't wait to come back!

There were some good options and a somewhat aesthetic atmosphere (like most bookstores). Since this is a 'new books' bookstore, all titles were cover price. The advantage of bookstores that aren't Barnes and Nobles is the better pricing and atmosphere (at least in my opinion)-- and New Dominion just didn't have either advantage on a typical B&N! The prices were more expensive than most bookstores, excluding B&N of course. Further, they didn't have a sale, clearance, or just any special sections. They did have a good selection of classics. When I asked the sales associate about a book price, which was damaged, she acted offended and gave me a shrug saying that that's just how it is. I didn't mention it being damaged, I just asked to make sure that the hardback was indeed the price listed on the cover. Many of the books they had were not in mint condition and there were not multiple copies of titles so you couldn't just select another one. Might as well save the bad parking and cramped store and head to a Barnes and Noble. I try to support small business whenever I can, but this store just didn't have any perks (that I could find) above a normal big manufacturer like Amazon or B&N. I will try to visit again one day and give it another shot.

New Dominion is a cozy, wonderful place to explore and a vital part of the community. They support local authors and host great events like Friday Night Writes. Staff are really friendly and knowledgeable. A great place to stop in when you’re near the downtown mall.

Cute local bookstore featuring mostly new books. Attended a fun local poetry reading here, love an independent bookstore that builds local community! Could use more books on scholarly critiques of religion but decent selection for a small store.

Nice bookstore with a good selection in a beautiful building. They even had a stand with New York Review Books which is something I don’t see very often. Employees were friendly and helpful!

Super cute bookstore! The employees were very friendly and willing to help with any questions we had. The selection was pretty nice :) if you spend a certain amount you get a cute tote bag! I didn’t see a ton of horror books, but I was able to find one I’ve had my eye on for a while. If I lived closer I would be a frequent shopper here :)
