It all started with a watercolor class where I met a wonderful person who keeps two horses at Sander's ranch. From there started a wonderful friendship that expanded to making new friends who have become my new family, to leasing a horse, to buying and owning her! I can't put into words how wonderful it is to be a part of the Sander's ranch family. I haven't experienced horse ownership anywhere else, so maybe I am biased. But the level of care given to the horses here is just superlative. The horses have free range to two separate 50+ acre forested and grass fields complete with a beautiful fresh water rushing stream that leads eventually into Bull Run. The horses come in morning and evenings for grain and, if necessary, medications or other supplements. Feeders check each horse's health daily at these feedings.Kim and Koty are so welcoming and know so much about horses from the odd scratch or lameness to advice and help about saddle fit, bits, and other tack. They have a terrific relationship with the wonderful vets at Haymarket Veterinary and two talented farriers round out everything a horse owner needs to keep their equines healthy. The ranch is right on the Manassas Battlefields, and the best part is that Kim and Koty love to organize rides out on the trail. And if they are busy there are so many wonderful boarders here that there is always someone to ride with. Libby and I also enjoy riding out alone into these wonderful trails where we've seen rabbits, coyotes, hawks, beavers, great blue herons, barred owls, indigo buntings, eastern bluebirds, Eastern box turtles, black rat snakes, a bald eagle (!) and the usual squirrels and deer.If you are looking for horse boarding with miles of available trails, and most important, wonderful people and the best type of herd environment for your horse, contact the Sanders!

I’ve been boarding horses for the past 30 years. BEC/Sanders Ranch is the most professional yet most laid back, friendly, very attentive full board care facility I have ever experienced. My two have been here for years and this will be their final resting place. Direct rideout to the Battlefield Park horse trails is a dream come true! This is the first place I’ve boarded where my horses have NEVER turned up lame, colicky, or with any other illness or injury whatsoever. Unheard of!! It’s due to the impeccable care and attention of the owners and employees. You will not be disappointed here!

This is one of my favorite places to visit, and absolutely the most beautiful ranch I've seen. The stables are large and clean, the place is well-organized, they have excellent care, and there is an amazing amount of space for the herds to roam and graze. The friendly barn cats are a bonus as well, on top of the amazing scenery!

I boarded at many places in my life but none better than The Sanders Ranch/Battlefield Equestrian Center. Knowledgeable, friendly, caring, expert horse folks.
God I miss it!

Love the Sanders Ranch. The horses have plenty of room to wander and graze, and the care is exceptional.

The Sander's are awesome - they have taken care of my 33 yo QH gelding like he was their own. Tonight I got a phone call not to come out in the cold to brin ghim a dry blanket because they'd supply one of their own. Seriously, you can't find care like this...

I have been here for 2 1/2 years - the Sander's are wonderful, no other way to put it. They have returned my calls and cared for my old QH like one of their own. They called me tonight to let me know they'd use one of their blankets if they needed if all of mine were wet! Way above and beyond care, wonderful trail access. Thank you so much!
