Pawsitive attitudes is a great training facility. They offer a variety of training classes/sessions and have a very large training facility. I particulary like the personal stories Shelley tells to reinforce skills and to provide additional education. For example, she told us of a condition one of her dogs experienced. My dog also experienced that same thing, but much worse. I called Shelley at 10 pm on a Sunday night (crying) to get advice since my dog had the same condition. She called me back several times while I was on my way to Richmond with my dog to get a status. Another time she also mentioned to use hydrogen peroxide to make your dog vomit. I had to use that advice when my dog ate one of my prescription medicine pills. Shelley also goes above and beyond for her students. If you have any questions about your dog training she takes the time to provide advice. She will also recommend people for situations she does not handle. If you miss a class, she takes the time to fit you in to her very busy schedule. I've been a student of Shelley's since February 2019 and don't plan on leaving. Shelley is stuck with me!!!

First took a new puppy 12 years ago (2010) and now our excitable 1 y.o. rescue pup (2023). Great for socialization & basic training in a controlled environment (haven't taken advanced classes). Trainers are experienced, and understand the difference in dominant / submissive nature, breed tendencies, and read personalities well. Good at training the owners too. Recommend to any dog owner to get / remind of fundamental skills & techniques

Instructors are friendly and amazing with our puppies. They have learned so much in a short time, and are so much better behaved overall.

I've used their training and interacted with them (commercially) outside of their studio for 'rabbit chase' and just casual passing. Shelley has always been about the dogs! I have a kind-of troublesome Alpha female, Nika, that I needed help with and with their help we've gotten to where we can take her out with us without fights. We know several dog-families that take their pups to Pawsitive Attitudes and have amazingly well-trained dogs. I don't think you can go wrong!

I have an English black Labrador, Maci, and we have completed one full training program (beginner to advanced classes) with Shelley at Pawsitive Attitudes. Maci has received the Canine Good Citizen Title, Trick Novice Title, and became a certified pet therapy dog. All obtained through Shelley. The training tools provided by Shelley are so helpful!! Training really does make a difference. We began training in February 2019 and during our training we have not only learned a lot but gained a family bond. Shelley is not only a wonderful trainer, but a wonderful friend. She goes above and beyond for her students. She has brought coffee to me while I sat at the emergency vet and even went skydiving with me!!I would 10 out of 10 recommend Shelley and Pawsitive Attitudes!! We keep going back for refreshers to this day!!

Been going to training for 4m so far... it's a great experience. Trainer is very kind, patient, watchful, hands-on, and experienced. Prices are very reasonable. Facility is great, they have a lot of equipment for all types of training. They also participate in additional activities like Fast Cat. My dog and I have learned a lot from them and this was so much easier than doing it in my own.

The trainer had an attitude with my grandmother and I. She was impatient and unprofessional. She did not train our dog anything.

Shelley at Pawsitive Attitudes is SO dedicated to helping you and your dog! She spent a lot of time on the phone with me before I even met her giving me encouragement and recommendations to help with my anxious dog. We've only been to 2 agility classes but my dog Jewels is learning a tremendous amount and I am seeing improvements in her behaviors!! I give Shelley my highest recommendation!!!

I have completed one full training program with Shelley and received the Canine Good Citizen for my lab and currently taking my puppy through the program. The dogs are so much better behaved and just love going to “school” and seeing Shelley! Wonderful experience with Shelley and her knowledge of dogs and helpful hits for owners!

I really appreciated Pawsitive Attitudes more when I read about Shelley and group of students and their pets’ efforts to cheer the elderly in our local nursing home during Covid and then with her visits to Ft. Eustis on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day 2020. The troops who engaged with her therapy dogs thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to pet and play with them. It made a holiday away from home less lonely. I have also trained a puppy under her and continue to enjoy other classes. In all my hours spent at Pawsitive Attitudes, I have only witnessed incredible patience and professionalism. This is a hard thing to maintain when dealing with multiple breeds and people. Additionally, her commitment to people and their pets is all the more extraordinary when you learn that she works a full time job prior to any of the classes she teaches. Plus, her entire weekends are filled with classes. THEREFORE, if you want a person who is caring and giving and knowledgeable to help you bring out the best in your pet, see Shelley Kuglin at Pawsitive Attitudes.
