6189 Station Dr, Bealeton“For the past several years we have had the great pleasure to have Jeff Bryant as our regular postal carrier. Jeff is always the bright spot to our day. His friendliness, helpfulness, and good humor are always evident. He never fails to make us and all of his customers feel special. His deliveries are always carefully placed; when we are away he hides our packages in unobserved locations on our porch. After many years, we are moving from Town to the County and a major disappointment is that Jeff will no longer be our carrier. You are most fortunate to have such a fine employee. 8623 Rixeyville Rd, Rixeyville“Rixeyville... you can't get a much quainter village than this! There's a country store, a church or two, a fire station, of course, the ubiquitous post office!! This hamlet, named after a U.S. Congressman, John Franklin Rixey, is an incorporated community of mostly rural rolling hills and sprawling farmland. It's not far from Culpeper, about 8 miles north on Route 229. There is a brewery tucked along a side road, and several nearby wineries! Serving a population of about 3,000, this "newer" post office looks like it used to be an old granary or storage facility. It's a cool, blue rustic building and the post master there, Belinda, gave me a warm, hearty welcome when I walked in. She gave me a bit of history about the town and the post office, informing me that the original post office opened about 1818 and used to be located across the street in the country store. Several members of the Rixey family had served as postmaster in the 1800's and early 1900's. After our chat, I went over to the back of store and took some pics of the original post boxes and cashier window. Such a fascinating history, which is why I'm addicted to post offices and the whole postal system! I'm reading a book "To the Letter" that tells the amazing history of letter writing, letter collections and post office stories! The inside of this country post office was pristine and I just had to purchase some stamps here because I just enjoyed how friendly the I was greeted. To give this post office more "curb appeal", I'd move all those unsightly storage bins on the side of the building and power wash the rafters. Be sure to check out the "owl" perched in the rafters as well! It's a hoot! Hours: M-F 8-12, 1-4:30; Sat 9-11, no passport service; drive by dromailbox deposit in the front of the building.”
“I am so sorry to hear negative comments. The staff here is so much more than efficient. They are kind, thoughtful, patient, courteous, respectful - they truly go the extra mile, and I am blessed to claim them as my local PO!”
