I had once gone in to possibly trade my lens in for credit of sorts, he looked it up and said he could do that.
A few weeks later, when I actually wanted to buy something, he said he couldn’t, nor wouldn’t.
And, a lot of the cameras they have are overpriced, I would point out what they would sell for elsewhere and he would scoff.

John is a camera wizard with a kind heart and an admirable amount of experience. The camera (and record) selection is not only unique and draws you back in, but auspiciously rare. A fascinating atmosphere and a gem to Southern Virginia.

Something for everyone to see (and/or purchase) here! New & pre-loved vinyl, camera gear of every stripe and era (rare batteries even)! A gem of a local small business that's been in Blacksburg in some form or other for 30+ yrs (I used to salivate over the Nikon cameras as an undergrad in the 90s). John, the owner, can find it or fix just about anything! (Just seeing the older camera gear alone is like a museum of human technological prowess!)

John is very knowledgeable about cameras, and very willing to help. It is fairly expensive but I love nothing more than to support their business.

I visited John’s Camera & Records over summer. I found John to be friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The rest of the people working there are great too. His records are organized and fairly priced. From my perspective, he keeps duplicates down to a minimum. I like to visit record stores when I travel. John’s is definitely at the top of my list. Thank you for a nice copy of Songs In the Key of Life!

Some great selection of records and cassettes as well as antique cameras and even a Edison gramophone! Lovely owners and we even picked up a golden record off the wall, would come again any day.

I left a few cameras and some other stuff there to be looked at that I was trying to sale I went back to check about it and he said he couldn't find any of it and his employees must have stolen it all an I was just out of my money and cameras not a good place for your cameras or anything else
