My Fiancé and I had been looking for a place to rent so we could get out of Norton. I work at Sykes and he works at Ramonos in Norton, we could afford it perfectly. We see that there is a trailer available next to the one our friends just rented so we asked about it and said it was available, he said we’d need to apply so we did. Went sent in a picture of our ID’s birth certificate and social’s as well as proof of income. We told him we wanted it, we went to go view it, we came back and told him we wanted it and we could sign a lease on Monday and have the money for the deposit. He said he had to wait for our background checks to come back. I called Monday telling him we still wanted it, he said he was busy and he’d call me, never got a call. Repeat this cycle until Wednesday when he told us he needed 4 pictures of my fiancé’s check stubs, we send them and he says he didn’t get them, we send them again and the next day I see on the website the trailer is no longer listed and he won’t answer any of my calls to see if it’s even available. I gave up days of work to get everything done to get this trailer and Jason rents to to someone else. I don’t know why, we are financially stable, We’ve been where we are for over a year now, nothing is on our background, so I don’t know why he did that. Very unprofessional and I feel like we dodged a bullet.

***OUT OF TOWNERS BEWARE: DO NOT APPLY HERE*** A complete waste of time. I put in an application on Sunday (6/26) then called Monday (6/27) to follow up on it. Jason answered and told me a bit about the property, seemed nice, then told me he would call me back around 4pm that day or so to follow up on my application. No call. I called Wednesday, no answer. Friday, no answer.Finally I called today (7/6) and Jason finally answers the phone, but I could tell something was off. I say, “Hi, I called about the rental last week and we were supposed to talk about it again?” He says very curtly, “I have no updates.” Having no idea what updates he is referring to, I ask: “Okay… is it still available?” Jason just says: “No.” No info, no apology, nothing. Just “no”.My husband and I are financially stable and we are both college-educated people just trying to move back from out of state to my hometown with our baby. I have perfect rental history and no marks against me, yet I wasn’t worthy of a call-back I was promised? I’m honestly glad this didn’t work out for me because I would hate to have a landlord this unresponsive, unprofessional, and irresponsible.And if you can’t or don’t want to rent to me, that’s your prerogative. But in bigger cities, they let the client know that. At the time of my call, the rental property was still listed on their site. Also if you call this business, they don’t have an answering machine, which is incredibly annoying.Edit - After having nothing to say to me just under an hour ago, suddenly I see Riggs Rental trying to call me multiple times not long after I posted this review, but I don’t feel like talking. Enjoy the block.

Very disapointed, insulted. 1st they never returned emails, messages, or calls inquiring about a place on Shawnee that was advertised month to month. I finally reached one of them on the phone which implied knowing I was one who filled online app, and my messages stated month to month yet I was never told it was not month to month. Only told to bring proof of income and ID's. My husband has memory and mood issues among other things due to his stroke. I put in one of messages we needed place month to month due to his care needed. Once we arrived to this office we were told only one year lease after my husbands ID was copied. Copying as we were told we wasted his time. His time. How insulting as he was sitting behind a desk doing absolutely nothing, my husband and I drove one hour to get there and his time was wasted? How dare him. Our time was wasted. We wasted gas driving there and back, two hours one hour each way all for nothing told an error in the ad and its forrent.com error. No you knew we were wanting month to month because of the 3 emails , messages and one phone call I left you never bothered responding too. When I called did you mention this? No. So who time was wasted? The town looks nice, we were excited and who knows we may have made this home permanently, or maybe after 2 to 3 months leave to Texas my home state for better health care my husband needs. But because of the un welcoming feeling and waste of his time the idea of maybe making this home was discouraging. Maybe he is nice person but he wasn't to us today and our time was truly wasted.Out of staters, I would not recommend trying to rent from these people, dishonesty in advertisements, false advertising only to blame forrent.com when everyone knows ita the customers control of how the ad reads not the place your placing your advertisement. If they falsely advertise, dishonest then who knows what else they would do apon move on or move out. The trust isn't there. Would not recommend any one trusting this lazy man at his desk doing nothing except to say we wasted his time. My time is valuable. This has me very upset . Very. My husband and I could pay double what he asked for rent because he needs stable place for medical care and yet our time was wasted. Truly upsetting how he said that to us.

Jason and all the maintenance guys are fantastic. Always willing to help and very friendly. Never had an issue in the three and a half years we have rented from them. If you need a rental property in Southwest VA, i highly recommend them!

The guys were great, the trim on the windows is so nice, I love it. They worked so hard out in the hot sun, Kevin and Danny are the only two I want to work on my house.

I highly recommend Riggs Rentals. They are truly great landlords and have been nothing short of amazing the past 3.5 years that my husband and I have rented from them!
