I cannot believe the Smithfield B&B is not more well known. My husband and I came for the night for a birthday trip, and the innkeepers left balloons and some lovely snacks to celebrate! Every detail was thought of - the rooms featured custom bath herbs that were delightful, the lounging area featured a cozy reading room - the entire property is filled with beautiful historic furniture and decoration that feel like a museum of craftsmanship. We also fell in love with the old Berryville bookstore that’s a 10 minute drive away.
There are so many wonderful places to rest - the big clawfoot tub in the Wellford room, the hammock in the backyard, the front sitting room, the two peaceful chairs by the gurgling stream, or the bench at the end of the trail covered in blackberries. Not to mention the pigs, chickens, and sheep you’ll see or the breakfast with fresh eggs from the farm. Book now, your trip will be filled with small delightful moments. My husband and I hope to be back regularly to celebrate special moments.

We have stayed at the farm several times. The inn is gorgeous, immaculate and peaceful. Its also very private and serene. They provide a large continental breakfast, so you can eat in your room or elsewhere around the inn whenever you decide to wake up and get moving WITHOUT having to interact with strangers. (I am not a morning person..?) The centralized location allows you to travel to local wineries, breweries, historical sites, outdoor adventures…whatever you like, it’s not a far drive, but the rest of the busy world disappears when you get to the farm. Finally, the innkeepers consistently provide the perfect vacation stay. They graciously offer their beautiful ancestral home for everyone to enjoy. I can’t wait to visit again!

A perfect stay to celebrate my birthday! Thank you to inn keepers Betsy and Ruth. Their attention to every detail was not missed on us! So much to enjoy on the farm, in Berryville, and in Clarke County. Highly recommend a visit!

We had a great stay here! Betsy went out of her way to accommodate us and made us feel very welcome. The room was very cute and clean. They have many acres that you can walk around on, as well as pay a visit to their store! We will be back soon. Thank you Betsy!

Lovely 19th century home. Nice bedrooms. Bathrooms were nice. Made you feel like you were back in time. We did miss having a hot breakfast though.

My fiance and I had the pleasure of staying here August of 2022 and it was an absolute treat. This was by far better than any hotel suite we could have booked. We planned a trip to luray caverns and drove to Smithfield farms after wards and it was such a beautiful place. Our stay was so peaceful and relaxing. They had really thought of everything to make our stay perfect, food tray with fresh fruits, meats, and cheese all made on the farm. Even fresh backed cookies. I will absolutely be planning another trip back. Also at night the sky is so clear every star in the sky was so bright just not a sight you get to see often.

My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of staying at Smithfield Farm Bed & Breakfasting May of 2022, and we loved it! The hotel room was beautiful and we woke up to views of the sunny garden and little baby lambs running around. Breakfast was spectacular, most of the items on the menu were grown right on the farm. The service was really great too, it was the perfect balance of customer care and also letting us explore on our own, and explore we did! We took walks in the morning and in the evening around the property looking at the different plants and animals on the farm. We especially liked getting close to the pigs during mealtime. We’re looking forward to our next stay!

This place is amazing! The owners (a mother and daughter) are so nice and accommodating. It’s on 80 acres of beautiful farm land. The house is historic and so nice. We stayed in the pink room which was my favorite! Breakfast was great. The bed was so comfortable. A huge tub for a very nice bath! Got a mug as a souvenir. They even accommodated my vegan diet and had oat milk for the coffee! Will definitely try to come back!

My wife and I stayed at the Smithfield Farm B&B for our anniversary. It was perfect; just what we needed! Everything was clean, breakfast was amazing each morning, and Betsy was so gracious and helpful with whatever we needed. Close to wineries, spas, and other amenities. We'll definitely be back!

What a treat to be in a natural space, a beautiful historic home and feel free to explore and enjoy. We watched the pigs and chickens, took hikes and pictures of nature, enjoyed the moon and stars. Our breakfast was so enjoyable, so delicious. We would love to go back. Our thanks to the hosts.

I would recommend this location to all of my friends who need a weekend away. It was a peaceful location, full of beautiful scenery, and Ruth and Betsy were the best hostesses! The breakfast was delicious and the fresh farm raised pork was mouthwatering. We were lucky enough to bring home some meat sticks and bbq sauce from the farm store, so the inn keeps giving and giving!! Amazing experience- we’ll be back for sure!

My fiance and I stayed at Smithfield Farm on a last minute weekend getaway a few weeks ago and it was absolutely incredible! We arrived later in the afternoon, signed the guestbook and headed upstairs to our room. The room is huge and absolutely beautiful, I couldn't believe we had snagged the last open room just a few days before. We stayed in the Jacquelin room. We didn't have an attached bathroom but had a dedicated bathroom across the hall that was enormous. There was a big soaking tub that I unfortunately didn't take advantage of (had we stayed more than one night I absolutely would have) as well as a spacious shower. The area around the main house is stunning, and they allow you to walk all around the property at your leisure. The backyard area had a couple little sitting areas and since the weather was nice we took our drinks outside and spent some time hanging out under the gazebo. There's also a farm store on property that is definitely worth checking out. We stocked up on honey from hives that are right there on the farm that was absolutely delicious. They also had lots of fresh meat and cheese, as well as homemade bbq sauce and canned jams.Speaking of delicious, the breakfast served by Ruth and Betsy was to die for. I'll be honest, I'm not really an eggs & sausage kind of girl, but it was incredible. My fiance was even shocked that I ate all of it. Literally the best breakfast I've had in a LONG time. Starting with coffee and tea, they also had fresh biscuits and fruit and then brought out a plate of eggs, sausage and potatoes. I'm sure this all changes seasonally but I'm betting no matter the season that the food is amazing.Ruth and Betsy are the sweetest hosts, they were so kind to us and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay and we will most certainly be back!

What a nice place to stay! The property was built in the 1800s and is still family run. Beautiful grounds and the inn keepers were a delight. Excellent breakfasts and well appointed rooms. Smithfield Farm should be a top choice when looking for a B&B in VA.

Wow. If you are interested in a weekend getaway from the DMV area or even visiting the VA Appalachian foothills on a far off vacation, Smithfield Bed and Breakfast is like home away from home. You must book for a stay here! Ruth and Betsy (mother / daughter innkeepers) are phenomenal hosts who strive to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. They are friendly as can be and have great tips on how to spend your time visiting wineries, antique shops, or hiking at nearby Harpers Ferry. All activities are extremely close by which makes Smithfield B&B a perfect location. We stayed in the Wellington room which worked out great. The B&B itself is situated on a working farm that has gorgeous well maintained grounds where you stay. Also, they are extremely COVId conscious and make guests feel very comfortable. The Portico in the rear of the historic home offers a perfectly relaxing atmosphere to polish off a bottle of wine after a fun day exploring neighboring attractions. The breakfasts offered are top notch. You would think Top Chef contestants are in the kitchen competing in a quick fire challenge, it is so good. Before checking out, you must stops at their Country Store to take some of the locally sourced products home to fix in your own kitchen to keep the experience going. I would recommend this spot to all my friends and family!

I can't say enough good things about our stay in the Randolph room! The room was beautiful and spacious, breakfast was absolutely delicious, and the grounds were lovely to walk. Betsy was so knowledgeable about the area and helped us make the most of our time at Harpers Ferry. The only bad thing is that we were only there for one night. We will absolutely be back!
