NOTE The owner responded ( se below) and totally ignored most of my review except the inspector was good. Lots of front desk employees and they all were not like the inspector . Got bad timing, had to keep asking about my vehicle , have multiple vehicles and get coupons but the last one had expired in April and they would not give me the $5 off of my $50.
Deleted my 5 star with a 1 star . I bring all my cars here . Today I was number 3 in line and even though re inspections were done for others who have priority, I have seen several other folks with just inspections jump ahead of my car which is unfair. I saw one person ask to get rushed and he was out ahead of my car. I was given an hour schedule and it’s now going past 2 hours . Very bad service and I suggest going somewhere else for your inspection . The inspectors are awesome just to be clear . Work efficiently .

Drive to Canada and back over the weekend and I come here today for a simple state inspection, then all of a sudden all my headlights and taillights are out

This location hastily performs their inspections and does not notify the customers regarding ALL mechanical issues present.
I had to go to an additional mechanic to find out additional issues not mentioned by the staff. Their staff also are trained to HEAVILY INCENTIVIZE the pricier solutions knowing the ignorance of the average DMV motorist.
Here is a better mechanic spot place to get honest feedback (not a state inspection) by someone who treats you like a cognizant, functioning human being: 45911 Transamerica Plaza # 109, Sterling, VA 20166

VA Tire & Auto normally provides us with good service. Today after inspection, our car was passed and no one notified us that our oil cap was noted to be missing. When we called VA Tire & Auto, Moe stated that a cap is not required to pass inspection, and even though they noted it during the inspection, it is up to the individual service provider to decide whether to notify the customer or not. Even if this means that the customer is unknowingly driving without an oil cap indefinitely and losing oil more quickly in the process. It would be appreciated if they notify customers of anything and everything that is wrong or hazardous with the car out of courtesy, especially when the primary reason for visiting is to have the car inspected. We want to leave knowing that we are fully safe in our car and that we can trust that VA Tire & Auto has our back.

I am from out of town, and went in to have battery checked, had an issue with low battery before my trip, and my power doors weren't working. They took me in very quickly and did a diagnostic. Everyone was wonderful, friendly, and I was there for a little over an hr. Highly recommend them, the found the issue wasn't my battery, but something else unrelated to it.

VA Tire and Auto is my family's go-to repair shop, and will continue to be. My misunderstanding of a tough, expensive situation was handled with class by the manager at this location - Sam. Facing an upset customer (me), Sam and I talked over the issues and he helped out with hard reports and facts to make me understand why the problems exist, why circumstances led to the repair and made me feel more confident that we were being treated fairly. As an overly critical customer of contractors and repair shops, it is refreshing to work with a grounded, polite, straight-shooter. Sam is an asset to VAT&A.

Overpriced, don’t ever get an inspection here!!! Dude (long beard and beanie) licensed inspector tries to find even the smallest thing wrong that doesn’t affect “safety” and gets you quoted for it

I have taken my car to this location for years to get state inspections, new tires, and do repairs. In December, I took my car in to address repairs which led them to replace a hose. I trusted it was fixed until, a few days later, I was driving and noticed my engine overheating. I bought coolant and poured it in only to realize there was no hose and the coolant went right onto the ground. I assume a clamp was not properly fitted and we got the car over to them and they replaced everything free of charge. Their mistake - mistakes happen - and they fixed it.
A month later, I took my car for state inspection where I failed for control arms and ball joints needing replaced. I had just replaced the breaks and didn't notice anything, but okay, it failed, I'll get it fixed. I was naturally suspicious after what happened with the hose, so I test drove the car after the repair to make sure everything felt right and didn't make sounds - all good. Until, a few days later, I was on a 6 hour road trip and noticed a grinding sound and shaking in the steering wheel an hour into the drive. I take it to a mechanic off the highway who lifts it up and brings me in to see that the tire is wobbling and some damage had been done to the axel. This location, who specializes in tires, didn't put the tire on right making for a potentially dangerous driving situation and another expensive repair bill (after just dropping $3,000 into these last two repairs with them).
Needless to say, I can't trust their mechanics to do the basic things to ensure a job is done right. I won't be going back to this company.
