Selection is good, have shopped there for years....won't be going back ever again despite living a stone's throw away. Recently went in with my wife to purchase several hundred dollars worth of Caymus for a party. Got to the register, and was asked to present ID. No problem - I'm 30 but I happily obliged. My wife did not have her wallet on her. The cashier informed me they could not sell me the wine unless she also presented ID. Yes, I'm 30, and my wife is 20? Or alternatively, I am buying $60+ per bottle Caymus for underaged drinkers? Which one is it Total Wine? Insane lack of common sense. I'm sure this review will receive the same trite response from the manager of the store about total wine's byzantine policy. Figures...not like there is a reddit post with 56,000 upvotes criticizing a similar (but far more absurd) instance than the one we endured.

It’s Total Wine! It’s great. Unfortunately because of VA’s blue laws it can’t carry liquor but other than that 10/10.

This Total Wine store has a lot of great wines, but the "wine experts" have been so-so. However, recently, we had a "wine expert" named Eva who was super helpful and friendly. It changed our perception of the store from a mediocre location to 5-star. I hope they give her a chance to coach other wine experts in the store.

I went there looking for a particular wine. When I got there, I wondered aimlessly looking for someone to help. I finally went to the mobile order desk where someone was packing something but did stop to assist me. Once I wanted to check out, no register had someone at it so I went to the guy behind the customer service desk. I politely asked where I could check out and he RUDELY snapped that I needed to go to the one that was lit up. I informed him I asked because no one was there. There was a kind lady that was sweeping turned out to be the cashier and she ended up checking me out. I’ll stick with the Annandale location, where they are always kind and staff are eager to help customers find wines. Especially because of that rude guy I’ll never return to this location.

The staff was not friendly no one asked if they could assist me or welcome us when we came in the store. The selection of wine and other items were well stocked.

This location even though it is in the busy Ballston area still has free parking available underneath and it is a large location. Always a good selection with lots of employee help. If you order online, your items are available on time here.

A friend took me to VA due to there being a better beer selection there. His go to is Total Wine & More, a chain of stores that specializes in beer, wine, other drinks, etc. This location was great; street parking was easy to find, and it being off the main streets it was quiet and convenient. It was like being a kid in a candy store, way more beer than one person could drink in years. They had a lot of local and regional breweries as well, plus solid selections from around the world. They also had a surprisingly large selection of NA and gluten free beers, which made some of my friends happy to be trying something new. It was all very organized and colorful as well, with wheeled ladders to get to the high stuff. There was a lot kept cold as well. My only main complaint is there were many beers that must be kept cold out on room temperature shelves, which will affect freshness and maybe even make some undrinkable. I did a mixed six pack and bought a variety case of a favorite brewery I can't get at home. Prices were reasonable as well. The staff was great, friendly and fast to help. If you live near one, be sure to join their rewards and discount programs if you're a frequent shopper.
