Nicer interior, wider aisles, better layout and less crowded than the giant in va sq. But when I asked if I could get a card to swipe to get rewards the staff were pretty rude. The checkout guy said he didn’t have any and I would have to talk to customer service. Then I talked to customer service and the guy ignored me until I said something and he said I could try the app but he didn’t know and otherwise he would have to get a manager. I asked if he could get a manager and he seemed to go try to find one then came back around and started doing something else without even really looking for one or calling one. Totally rude. At least at giant they have the cards readily available.

Safeway is good. Just pick your produce and vegetables carefully. Just as other big chains the is a high degree of food waste and ugly looking greens

please don’t limit the self-checkout to 15 items or less when there’s never more than one cashier in place. It was already a slow experience getting out of here, now it’s just not worth it.

Safeway is one of our favorite stores for grocery shopping since we moved into NOVA. We used to go to the one at Rosslyn as it is conveniently located, however, it was getting harder for us to buy what we needed after the completion of a large apartment complex near it. So we started to explore other Safeway stores in Arlington and found the store located at 3713 Langston Blvd is the best. Items are well stocked and throughly organized. Particularly we are very impressed by the manager, Rudy. Not only did he welcome us every time we visit there but also is he always readily available during self check out. (At other stores, sometimes it took a while for us to get staff assistance.) I highly recommend this Safeway store at 3713 Langston Blvd to anyone who seeks the best customer service and I hope the manager, Rudy, receives the appreciation from the store he deserves!

PROS! * large parking lot -- you'll never lack a close-ish space here * well-stocked shelves; helpful-ish employees * pharmacy tends to be fairly quick CONS! * not as organized as one would expect * often only have self-check open, no people cashiers The food itself seems standard. Plenty of produce, standard offerings. I don't really have anything bad to say about this Safeway. It's pleasant enough and no issues with lighting, safety, or cleanliness.

I would say this location of Safeway is a hit or miss depending on what you are looking for. For the most part, it is where I go when I need to pick up staples. However, if you are looking for exotic ingredients to prepare a fancy meal, this may not be the spot for you. The customer service is adequate. That too is hit or miss. I walked by the deli/prepared foods section. Nobody asked if I needed assistance. I walked by the bakery. Nobody was there. I walked by the seafood. I was asked if I needed help with anything. So...one out of three....not so good. Oh. I almost forgot the cashier. She did ask me if I found everything I needed and if I needed bags. Because I brought my own bag with me, I had to bag my own groceries. Interesting! The store is clean and its emits basic grocery store vibes. No flare or fanfare. If I have the extra time, I'm heading to Trader Joe's or Whole Paycheck...I mean Whole Foods.

Have had a couple of issues with Safeway (this location and in general in Arlington). Staff are friendly and helpful which I appreciate.First issue, items in the flyer don't scan through the self checkout (and probably not the other checkouts) with the correct flyer price. I bought gelato last week and the price in the flyer was 2 for $6. It rang through at 2 for $9. I asked for help and the clerk thought I had the wrong product so I showed her the flyer. Then she said the flyer was probably outdated. I showed her the ad which was the weekly flyer. She adjusted the price. All told, though, this is not the first time this has happened. Watch your receipt carefully.Second issue, the app is not user friendly. In fact it is awful and adds friction to my buying experience. I tried shopping there weekly when I first arrived in Arlington but just gave up most of the time and now shop at Aldi and Costco. At first it wasn't tied to my account somehow. Then I clipped the coupons and I couldn't find them when I went to pay. Then I had issues with the coupons. I hate coupon clipping and, as a working professional, don't find it an effective use of my time screwing around with coupons. Maybe it's a cultural thing, but it is a colossal waste of time made even worse when they are digital and hard to find in the app. It just drives me to shop elsewhere.Third issue, have experienced stockouts several times. First time was roasts. Second time was eggs. Third time was cheese. Why bother going if the stuff isn't in stock. At least the shrimp was.Fourth issue, try finding the deli meats on the flyer. There are 4 different locations in the store and it is impossible without asking someone where the right item is. I am not interested in a scavenger hunt.Fifth issue, a lot of the "sale" items are not that well priced and seem to be marked up for DC. Almost as bad as Harris Teeter that says buy one get one free but the price that week is double what it was 3 weeks prior. This also ties to trying to get the weekly ad online. I don't want to read it on a tiny phone screen so I use my computer. The default, which is annoying to change, is for California--almost the same flyer but cheaper prices which I didn't realize until I got to the store and found the meats $1-2/lb more expensive. Ditto for other items. At least there is plenty of free parking but all of this really puts me off. Watch your receipts.

This was one of my go-to Safeways until today. I had to bag ? my own groceries in the full-service checkout line. At Safeway on North Harrison Street, I've even had staff bag my groceries in self-serve checkout. This may be my last shopping excursion here.

I got there just before opening, and I see 6-8 employees park their cars in the spots closest to the store. Annoying.

The store is open until midnight, and the store manager was very helpful.

We bought double-bagged mussels from the seafood department on 9/21. The mussels were behind the counter, so the seafood dept employee had to retrieve it for us. Unsealing the bag at home, we found all the mussel shells "open" with a foul odor, along with a "sell by" date of 8/24! (None of this visible or noticeable until you opened the bag.) Returning to the store for a refund and to complain, the customer service rep's response: "I don't work in seafood, you need to take it up with them." She even questioned why we bought the mussels if they were "bad" (as if we knew that and bought 'em anyway?), rather than saying "I'm sorry" for selling seafood a full month after it's "sell by" date! We received a refund, of course, but we were shocked at the store rep not apologizing immediately and taking responsibility. Instead, she made us feel as if it was our problem, not theirs. Unbelievable.
