I would consider this a shady mechanic. When I went in for a rattling from my exhaust system, they tried to charge me $1,700 to replace the ENTIRE exhaust system, and another $700 to replace a loose evap canister. They failed to mention that I could find a welder to fix only the broken part for significantly less. In the end, I went with another mechanic who fixed the exhaust for $400 and re-secured the evap canister at no extra charge.

DO NOT take your car to Joyce Motors for Virginia safety and emissions inspections. Service was horrible, they failed my car on my safety inspection, they failed to provide the safety inspection fail codes or detailed explanation of why my car failed, and then tried to get me to leave my car for a more detailed diagnostic that would of cost me an hours labor. DON’T TRUST Joyce Motors to inspect or service your car.Service: Vehicle safety inspection

I began having electrical problems with my older model car. Joyce told me the alternator was fine and that they could not find anything wrong. They replaced the battery even though it was still functioning (with my approval).Three days later I began to see dashboard indicators of electrical problems again, and the car died completely. I had it towed to another mechanic, who told me the alternator and belt were shot. How did Joyce miss this?This is the second time Joyce has failed my car in a significant way; the previous time was pre-pandemic. I will never ever patronize this business again.

I had a cylinder misfire. Joyce Motors performed an expensive "carbon cleaning" without the proper machinery to do so, and I found out when I took my car to the dealership. My battery randomly died on their lot for them to replace. I changed my own spark plugs, and they replaced them without my permission to charge me when I picked up the car unless I wanted to wait for them to put my spark plugs back. They never resolved the misfire problem, and I stopped taking my car here.
