This is a great location and critiques are minor and may affect peoples experience differently.
I’ve noticed an attitude of Jailhouse Mentality. It’s about some of the employees who disregard customers or workers around them who aren’t thrilled with their loud yelling and disrespectful jokes. Everyone likes a vibrant environment and friendly atmosphere but when it infringes on basic considerations, it makes it easy to go to the next store. Also, they seem to either hoard fresh vegetables or aren’t able to acquire them regularly. Anyway, other than a few things, great staff and location.

Though you'd expect a smaller selection from a smaller location, it's still impressive how limited the options are. The main bonus is convenience-- think of this place as a super-sized 7-Eleven.

Had a receipt and all the items in new condition never opened and I was only offer store credit for my return even though I paid with cash. Terrible customer service don't recommend.

Medications are ready on time. They notify if the medication is out of stock, and they keep trying to get it! People at the pharmacy are nice.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. They're also willing to help source discounts for expensive prescriptions that aren't fully covered by a person's insurance. Highly recommend.

Been getting prescriptions filled here for many years, never had an issue. Very friendly staff, they go above and beyond for you as well.

I had changed a prescription due to cost but after trying an alternative with dismal results I had to go back to the original prescribed drug. It cost $75. but Priya (who cashed me out at the pharmacy) said let me try a coupon and it worked brought the prescription down to $14.55. Priya thank you thank you thank you. You were most kind, considerate, thoughtful- give that woman a raise !

Wow - just had to respond after seeing some of the reviews. They have the freshest produce, fish, meats - great selection of organic products! They may be a little more expensive but have you been to Whole Foods? Plus, the staff is phenomenal - when they asked if I had found everything I was looking for and said "actually, I was looking for __ and you don't seem to carry it." Two weeks later the customer service person said that they had gotten it in and it was on aisle x. Unfortunately, the Pharmacy staff is the worst - I honestly don't know if it could possibly get worse. The staff of 3 are standing around chatting and continue to do so quite loudly and then after 5-10 minutes you get I'll be with you in a minute. If I am picking up more than 1 prescription- I cannot count the number of times they have shorted me - they don't let you see them or tell you what exactly you are picking up. Between the cash register, plexiglass and all of these pamphlets - It is impossible to see what RXs you are getting. It's just a terrible pharmacy - the one in Shirlington is great. I really hate going to Giant or Safeway - they are not as clean and certainly could care less if you are looking for a specific product. HT's my main grocery store and has been for years - only others I go to are Whole Foods, Fresh Market and Trader Joes. But, I have transferred my prescriptions to another pharmacy

Rodney in the meat department is the reason I shop at Shirlington's Harris Teeter. He always has some form of Choice Angus steaks on ridiculous sale and will cut them extra thick to his patrons specs every time. It's like having a corner butcher shop. While waiting for him to cut, trim and rake 1.75" steaks, he always has a good story or a great recipe to share. Whomever hired him should get a raise..... after Rodney ;-). If you're smart you'll make Rodney a friend of yours too.

Tried to get 5lbs of shrimp and the guy acted as if I walked into his personal kitchen. I'm not pressed to spend money where it's not wanted. I left and went to another Harris Teeter.

5 stars just for their extremely friendly, patient, and accommodating members of staff. Denice very graciously helped me with getting a money order, after dealing with a large number of people checking out. Even when I had difficulty with my cards during the payment process she was very accommodating and pleasant to work with. Fran was especially kind and helpful with the checkout process as well, and even remarked at how much money I saved with my loyalty card. I had a very rough day at work and they turned it around with their welcoming service and uplifting attitudes. Thank you!

WARNING! DISGUSTING PRODUCE! Please do not get sick from eating this store's food. I have been living in the area for about four years. Over time, I have noticed the produce quality wax and wane at this location. In other words, it is hit or miss. A few rotten cherry tomatoes here and there is nothing to get worked up over. HOWEVER, a recently purchased bag of Perdue chicken quarters was ROTTEN when we opened it. The bag was absolutely rancid!!!!! It made us sick and stunk up our whole apartment. We bagged it up and returned it to the store. The manager proceeds to open the bag on the customer service counter!!!!! Despite being warned of the disgusting smell. Simply unbelievable!!! He then asks "did it smell like this when you bought it?" No, sir, we didn't intentionally buy fetid chicken from your poorly managed store. After four years of sub-par quality food, this is a much needed wakeup call. Shoppers please be aware.

Update: One of the store manager's read my review and sent me a private message apologizing for the store's having fulfilled my order with rotting food, then added a $20 credit to my loyalty card. I greatly appreciate the manager's reaching out to me and finding a remedy for the problem.
