It will take years for my hair to recover from trusting Rachel at "Hair by Rachel Marie." I came to her with long hair that could hold any style. After six months of overpriced, damaging services, I got a blowout from another salon and the stylist warned me my hair wouldn't survive another session with Rachel. Unfortunately, I didn't listen soon enough. At my final balayage appointment with Rachel, large chunks of my hair disappeared at uneven lengths, leaving me with severe chemical damage (the chemical haircut is even visible in the "before" of her promotional extensions video). Rachel refused to take responsibility, denied any wrongdoing, and instead pushed me to pay for extensions as her "hair model." I was her first and only model, and she's still using photos & videos of me for promotion, ignoring my repeated requests to take them down. I warned her I thought the extensions would ruin my hair, but she reassured me they would protect it. They didn't. I later had to cut off my hair, which is now thin, lifeless, and unable to hold any style. I even have a bald patch post-extensions, visible in the photo here of what I was left with after trusting Rachel. Don't be fooled by the glowing reviews like I was. Rachel goes to great lengths to suppress negative feedback. She caused irreversible damage to my hair and refused to refund a single dollar of the thousands I paid her by Venmo. If you value your hair, look elsewhere. You've been warned.

finally found my hairstyler for life! This is the second time I scheduled an appointment with RM and I left feeling amazing and someone complimented my look on the way to my car. The first time I went my hair was so damaged so it was just to restore its health and I liked her work, so now that my hair was in good health I wanted to have a real haircut and new style and OMG she delivered, I feel so empowered. This hair goes with my personality and it makes me feel stronger and more me. She is the best professionally and as a person, she is a gem.

Rachel is a true color genius. I’ve been searching for over 15 years for someone who can achieve the beautiful blonde balyage I’ve always wanted. After trying dozens of high end salons with bad (sometimes disastrous) results, I finally found Rachel who was able to take me from a washed out bleach blonde to what I really wanted in just a few sessions. My blonde balyage is beautiful and I’ve gotten so many compliments. She is a rare gem in the DMV area and I always look forward to our appointments!

Rachel is an amazing balayage expert! She’s extremely knowledgeable about how to add dimension and work with fine hair. Her prices are very reasonable and upfront. She asks good questions to better understand what you like and how you normally style your hair so she can offer specific advice. Her salon is very clean and she’s always punctual! She did my wedding hair and I’m always receiving compliments! I truly cannot recommend her enough.

Rachel helped me correct my color from a prior experience at a different salon. She took the time to understand what I wanted, and created a perfect color for me :) she also cleaned up my hair cut. I left feeling fabulous! The color didn’t fade between my first and second appointment. The products she uses are great quality. Her salon (and company) is charming. Highly recommend :)

Rachel Marie does a fantastic job! It’s easy to see how much experience she has! She’s the first stylist to take into consideration my everyday styling and maintenance level before cutting. Also love how she’s easy to talk to but has no problem not talking during your appointment if that’s what you prefer

Rachel's wonderful! I did a number on my hair during Covid with box dye and she's helped color correct as well as put in a cool silver streak highlight. Absolutely would recommend for color and styling/cut!
