Absolute scum bags. Dont rent a car from here. Use Turo or another agency. After having to come back the day after Thanksgiving after having no available cars, these fools only had an electric car for us when we waited in line at 7am for them to open. The only consideration we got for picking the car up a day late was being able to return it without a full charge and still got charged $35 for it.

Had the experience of renting a car from this rental car agency, and while the overall service and vehicle quality were satisfactory, I was somewhat disappointed by the fact that the rental office did not open as early as the car was allowed to be rented. I had planned to pick up the car early in the morning to kickstart my day, but upon arrival, I found the office closed. This delay inconvenienced my schedule, and it would have been more convenient if the opening hours were accurately reflected. Despite this hiccup, the staff were helpful upon arrival, and the car itself was in good condition, making the rest of the rental experience positive. I would recommend that these combined service desks (dollar/thrifty etc) ensures their advertised rental times align with their actual operational times to avoid such inconveniences for customers.

This rental car service is the worst I have ever encounter, I booked my reservation through Expedia along with flight and accommodation, after I arrived I had to take a shuttle to the rental car building away from the airport it was not noted that they was not exactly in the airport, after I reach I joined the line and waited for my turn to be assisted after 6 or so minutes a agent call me over she seamed pleasant but a few minutes later after she asked for my driver license she then gave me a print out card with instructions that said they regret to tell me they can not accept a debit card after they pull my credit without my knowledge so now I was stranded and The agent couldn’t careless about my situation so I had to figure out how I was going to get a rental car for my trip I eventually went to enterprise and was treated with great customer service and everything was so great they even upgraded my vehicle to a full size SUV Cadillac for the same price the rep was very nice and professional to us my husband and myself. I call Dollar to find out how could they pull my credit with out my knowledge they told me it’s their policy at this point I had no words I just hang up the phone. Please customer I just want to put you on notice that this is the practice of the dollar car rental company, I do not recommend them please take your business elsewhere.

The absolute worst customer experience ever. Reagan National airport, stood in line for an hour with only 2 of 4 employees waiting on customers. When finally talked to employee only to be told there were no CARS!!!! UNREAL!!3pm on Saturday the 18th of November.

Never again. Reservations mean nothing here. Had a reservation for 730am; got there at 1030 and were told 1 hour wait because no cars available. Decided to wait because we didn't want to hassle with finding a different rental company on short notice. It took 2.5 hours in the end to get a car. So many people waiting around. Price was also $40 more expensive for a three day rental than we were quoted through Priceline.

Line wasn't too bad to see an associate but I did note they only had two working the counter for two companies (Dollar and Thrifty). Get to the counter and give my name for my reservation and was told it would be a 2 hour wait due to "delays and cancellations of flights so people aren't returning their cars". I find it interesting almost every bad review says you wait an hour or more for a RESERVED car. When my husband asked what the point of the reservation was he was told the reservation just reserves the rate. What?! I've never had this issue with Avis. You should have plenty of vehicles. Explaining I'm almost 8 months pregnant and already very tired and sore from a delayed incoming flight I asked if there were any other options. I was told I could upgrade to a luxury vehicle for $70 additional a day. My husband asked if we would receive any discount for the inconvenience and was told no. We passed on the upgrade but asked if there was any other option. The associate indicated that since I reserved an electric vehicle he would check to see if one is available sooner.When he came back, they had a vehicle. We finished paying and I asked about how charging works as I have never driven an electric vehicle before. Didn't even realize that was what I booked btw, I thought it was a standard SUV. He proceeded to give us a very vague answer that we have to find a charging station, plug in, and saying it's easy. My husband asks how long it takes, and he tells us it takes 3-5 hours to recharge. Um, what?! We ask to prepay for them to just charge it once it is back and ask how much it will be. The young man does not answer us just proceeds to add the option to our bill and print our receipt. We asked again and he said he didn't know it will appear after we return it. At this point we are really irritated. How do you not know the price you charge? We are taken out to a Tesla Model 3. Never driven one before but the associate excitedly exclaims we are lucky because this car supercharges so now it will only take 30 minutes. Great. Then he unplugs the charging cable and tells us with the 65% charge the car has we should be able to get 200 miles before needing to charge it. Then he just walks off so I assume everything else is typical. It is not. We fumble around trying to figure out what the heck we are doing with all the tech in the car. Of course there is no signal in the garage so we can't look things up on our phones. My husband flags down another employee who gives us a demo and we can finally be on our way. Lovely gentleman, that one. He was very patient with us so he earned this review one more star than I would have given. Never using Dollar again.

One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with a business. Booked a car and pre paid for four days and ended up only needing it for two, I called and they verified I could pick it up two days late. Show up and the line took one hour, only to be met with rude employees who then said I was on a waiting list for a car which could take another hour or more. And even though I prepaid they charged me an additional 72$ for a “concession fee recovery charge”. Awful customer service, awful business.

THIS WOULD BE ZERO STARS IF POSSIBLE! READ THE OTHER ONE STAR REVIEWS. THEY ARE WHAT THIS COMPANY IS REALLY DOING TO ITS CUSTOMERS. BEWARE! Just a terrible experience with this scam of a company. They didn't have the car that I reserved, only to stick me in a Tesla so they could charge extra junk fees after I'd returned the car and left the airport. What you first pay is NEVER what your final bill will be. It is artificially low to lure you in, but you will be hit with extra charges once the rental is over. I had to go back and forth with my credit card issuer to get the charges removed and it was a major hassle. I will NEVER rent from Dollar again, especially this location if I have to return to DC.

Had the worst car rental experience ever. Poor customer service provided by the staff - no waiting area for an hour delay wait for our car reservation. Was told they would call our name when our vehicle was ready and they never did. When we had checked in with staff, they were rude and told us “we did call your name”. Well obviously not loud enough or never did..and I know they saw us still waiting. Would 10/10 NOT RECOMMEND.

DCA national Airport in D.C. returned my item through the mail when I was unwilling to go back to airport where I had left them. They were utterly fantastic about it, never dropping the ball in our lengthy texting back and forth. And they initiated the conversation by letting me know I had left something in the rental car. I was taken care of. Thankyou good people.

I definitely should’ve checked these reviews before booking a rental car with them. I will not be booking with them again. I booked online and I have booked rental cars many times before and never ran into this issue. Supposedly, I rented an electric vehicle which I did not see that on the car that I chose. So we did end up having to choose the most expensive gas vehicle they had. I had already paid $285 initially for my rental and at the time of pick up (not including the refundable deposit) we ended up paying another $481. It was an SUV crossover, Hyundai, cloth seats, no perks like a sunroof, leather seats, etc. This was your basic vehicle, and yet we ended up paying $766 for 10 days. To make it even worse, it had not one drop of windshield wiper fluid, which we ended up needing on the trip. We had to just pour water on the windshield when needed. The woman at the counter that was helping us was not friendly, was not helpful. I had some questions about the charges because that was just a ridiculous amount of money to pay for a basic car and she was extremely rude during the whole process.

Honestly, a really good experience! I certainly do understand that how people could be frustrated with the few agents that were there, but I didn’t have any issues. The agent (Z) who helped me was wonderful and even gave me some tips on the car I had rented. 10/10 experience all around. I would say that some of the reviewers should really exercise a little patience. DCA is a super busy airport and each agent was really working as quickly as possible.

Lazy employees at Dollar Car Rental. Should have gone to Hertz, they were ready to go well before opening.
