Hey everyone out there! I normally don't give bad review or take my time to write a bad review but in this case it is a MUST it. This past Saturday January 30th, I went to Hair News Beauty Salon to get a Japanese straightening perm. I made an appoinment early last week (Monday) to come Saturday so they knew I was coming. I did my research online to know how a Japanese straight perm is done, how long it takes, what is the pretreatment and proteatment, so I knew what I was getting into. Let me try to make the story short and tell you the problem guys. Today is Tuesday and it's been 67hours since I got my perm and it's awful. The lady who did my hair told me to wait 48 hours so I wait a little bit more just in case. FYI my hair I straight but I wanted to have it really straight, glossy, silky smooth with No frizz. My hair was okey before doing the treatment but today my hair looks awful. The texture is rough and Not shinny, Not silki, Not smooth, Not straight, it even has kind of like a wave at the bottom. I'm so sad that this happen to me. I was charged $250 to destroy my hair plus I left $40 tips because my hair looks nice when I left the hair salon and I was happy about it. I also bought a shampoo and conditioner that the 2 ladies in the salon recommended. I pay $40 dollars more for that. So basically I SPENT $310 dollars in the salon and the Job wasn't done right and I'm satisfied with the experience. I told the ladies this was my first time getting a perm and also I said that I dye my hair over a year ago. I still have the color at the bottom of my hair from dying but that was more than a year ago. Look at the photos. I wish I was told by the hair stylish stuff that my hair WAS NOT READY to get a perm yet, or at least they could have told me that my hair is so straight already that I don't need to get a perm. So Sad and annoyed by the experience at this salon. We still in the Pandemia due to COVID-19 and I know everyone needs money especially hair salon but they really need to think about their customers before doing or getting anything done on them. I have them and income of $310 dollars in their place that they make in less than 3 hours so I was hoping for something good. I will go back there and tell them that What can they do to fix the problem. I don't want them to touch my hair again so A refund will be the most accurate solution. I will keep you future customers update with the respond from them. I gave them 1 start since they were polite.

Ayako is an amazing talent at Rubio. Been following her around for years and for men's or women's cuts (she also cuts my wife's hair!) she always does an excellent job. Plus she's a sweetheart and the salon is really well managed. Also close to Revolver, awesome clothes shop. Dangerous for me. Haha.

I come here every year to get a digital perm. I love it! I've done digital perms at other salons and it never stays in my hair that well. My hair is fine and soft so doesn't hold well if not done right. This place always gets it right and love it for months later on too. I always get it done by the owner.

I wish I could give 0 stars. I have never written a bad review before but need to here. I made the mistake of purchasing a groupon for haircut and style and left with neither done and ended up just doing it myself. They did not have proper hair brushes or blow dryers, nor any knowledge or experience with different hair types. Their idea of blow drying was sticking me under a blow drying seat until my hair was a dry damaged afro because they were too lazy to do it themselves, and then insulted me saying my hair was too wavy (and continued to trash talk about me in Korean). I called groupon immediately because I did not receive the services I paid for and thankful they were understanding and were able to credit my account. Never again.
