I have been with a Banfield since I was 7 years old. I’m 33 now. We will NOT be back. General issues we’ve had:1) Our 10 year old Newfie was listed as 12 pounds. If you know dogs this is obviously wrong. He was 124 lbs at the time. This caused a prescription to be kicked back. Humorously, Dr. Adam told us they take meticulous notes so they are sure of their treatments etc. Well, this note was obviously not meticulous. If you mess this up, what else are you messing up? Furthermore, there were two prescriptions as our dog is so large he requires two pills of Trifexis. The clerk or vet only saw one and so it was denied for being the wrong weight (based on their “meticulous” notes). When I explained that Bo was in fact 124 lbs and had two prescriptions, she found the other prescription and stated that it was already denied. Then later the same clerk told me she never received the other prescriptions. So either you lied about receiving them to save your skin or you lied about not receiving them. Either way, the same person told me two different stories to save her appearance.2) Based on the above information, our dogs could not get their refill for Trifexis on time. Therefore they were given a single dose of Simperica Trio to hold them over one month and we were told specifically it would be no issue to switch back to Trifexis once it comes in. Then comes the time to sign the prescription for Trifexis and the vet states that our dog would need another heartworm test to switch medication back to Trifexis. This was never mentioned and comes across as a money grabbing scheme, which I know Banfied is obviously not already famous for (eye roll).3) When our Newfie went in for a checkup, we asked to have his skin checked so we could get antibiotics for him to take care of skin issues he’s had off and on for a lot of his life. This was never done. Fun fact, Banfield has always charged for a culture while most vet clinics up here just prescribe the antibiotic that has worked in the past without having to charge for another culture. Additionally, most vets will save you money by writing a prescription for a human pharmacy whereas this one refused. I think Banfield actively discourages this practice as they can charge more in house. For your notes they typically charge around $80 for the antibiotics whereas a normal pharmacy charged me $17 for the same supply.4) My wife tried on several occasions to get our cocker spaniel seen yet never received call backs. The only way we were seen was due to the need for a checkup so the above Trifexis prescription could be filled. Btw, it’s still not filled. She will be at another vet in the coming week to solve this issue.5) More of a humorous yet potentially bad practice story. A girl picked her dog up here and was proud of the dog for doing well. She asked the clerk at the desk if she could cook a special meal for the dog. The clerk responded with “No. Dogs can’t have anything but dog food.” I was fortunate enough to experience this comical advice given by a non-vet to someone on how to take care of their pet nutritionally. So dogs can’t have chicken or salmon or grains or sweet potatoes or pumpkin? Pretty sure whole companies make their living off of pre-packing diets like this. And what were they eating prior to dog food becoming a thing? Oxygen? A clerk at the front should not in anyway be giving advice on how to take care of your pets. You run the risk of them getting overconfident and giving them the wrong advice that could damage or hurt their pet.We have been at Banfield’s that were great and now one that ruined it for us. As icing on the cake, Dr. Adam continuously tried to tell us she understood the frustration but they are understaffed. We were patient for two months. Clearly frustrated enough to write a novel. If you made it to the end, do yourself a favor and pick a different Banfield or just go to a local vet like we did.

I would give this place negative stars if I could, this is truly the worst Banfield and the reviews are definitely accurate as to the chaos that goes on here. The first time I brought my dog here it was for a dental cleaning and comprehensive exam, he was there for a few hours before getting a phone call that they had an issue during the dental cleaning and we could pick him up whenever, but they couldn't do the dental cleaining today. About 10 minutes later I get another phone call, this time asking where we are and if we're on the way because they'd called the ER to inform them that we'd be bringing him by. I had the VA explain to me again what was going on in more depth and she repeated that the pre-medication injection they had given my dog was causing him to go purple in the face and he had spiked a fever, and they were recommending he go to the ER. At no point during the initial phone call did they stress the seriousness of the issue of my dog and that we should rush. Upon arriving, the doctor informed me that he had lymes disease and she flat out called my dog fat to my face and said she didn't recommend trying for another dental cleaning until he had lost weight. Why mention this after the fact? if you thought that the weight was going to negatively affect the dental, then why proceed? Or why wouldn't you call us first and discus the recommendation, instead of when he was so severely panting and blue in the face after the fact. I still never got a follow up from the doctor with her thoughts on why this could have happened. I should have stopped bringing him in at that point, but I decided to give them another chance. This visit we tested his lyme level with a quant c6 test and he was supposed to receive all his vaccines that were overdue, which was 4 vaccines total. After leaving and checking his Banfield account later that day I realized only 2 vaccines had been given because they were the only 2 that had been pulled up during his last visit for the dental. I thought maybe the doctor just wanted to space them out to not over load his system, but come to find out the doctor said she would have done them if she knew they needed to be done. But no one took the time to look further into his profile and see that more than just 2 vaccines were due. So again I had to bring him back to this location again for more things that could have been done. I still never got a follow up from the doctor about his lymes test. I had to look up on the internet if the levels were too high or not. the rooms are equipped with examination tools. Avoid this place.

This is my first visit to this clinic. My dog Kena had a wound on her stomach and this office was the only one with an available slot next day. They communicated with us the whole way through and even allowed us to come in earlier. Thank you all for caring for my girl!

What’s the point of an appointment time if you won’t check us in until the appointment time? Now the exam is 10 min behind schedule because you’re apparently too busy to check us into one of the many empty exam rooms 5 min before 9. Yet someone came in after us, was checked in and put in an exam room. Why did that 3 min difference matter?Definitely gonna go out of my way to a better Banfield, like Lorton.

Very professional hospital staff, manager and doctor. Were patient, informative and super helpful throughout the whole process. Our problem was with the receptionist lady in the front with glasses. We had our baby kitten euthanized and as we were leaving she was extremely unhelpful and extremely unempathetic. We had our pet euthanized and she wanted us to leave quickly as I was asking her for a name request for our pet cremation certificate. She lacked consideration, was unhelpful and a very nasty person. Please address her. Other than that I appreciate the whole Banfield team. Thank you so much for everything you do. ❤️❤️❤️Update:Thank you for addressing our concern, Our family will never forget. Thank you. ❤️

Love this location. I’ve had Banfield for years. I like it because I move a lot and it helps transferring records so easily. This location seems a bit better managed than other locations in the DMV. Staff is very friendly and thorough. All Banfield staff is friendly, but this location goes above and beyond. I will continue to pass by the other three locations on my way to this one. Found my permanent vet while I’m here.
