As a local, I take pride in supporting local small businesses. However, I now try to avoid going inside the store based on the multiple negative interactions I have experienced with the two ladies with excess avoirdupois which I have had the displeasure of ringing me up on more than one occasion. They have never once been friendly or even in a decent mood when I have come into the store. Actually, it seems that the fact that they need to stand up from a sitting position and waddle one way or the other to the cash register or other part of the store is of the greatest inconvenience to them. Additionally, the conversations, the complaining about other people, customers, home life, etc... save it for when no one is in the store, ladies. No one wants to hear about how someone didn't do the dishes or just generally, how miserable your life is. Be happy you have a job in a small town when you have limited skills, among other things, that would make you unemployable otherwise. That being said, there are a couple of gentlemen who also work here. They are always friendly and give off the vibes that they appreciate your business. They seem to be here in the evening more often, which is the only reason I didn't give a 1 star. Not that it matters, really. So ladies, try to at least act as though you're not a couple of just miserable human beings all the time even though you obviously are. It really sucks that the only other close by option is 7-11...

My son called Mayhugh’s in Amissville just now and asked the price of 93 octane. The woman who answered said, “Really?” and hung up. He called again and repeated the question. She said, “Seriously?” He said, “Are you going to tell me the price or not?” Silence. He waited several seconds. More silence. He hung up. We have three drivers in this family, and they just lost three customers.

A real human tragedy unfolding at this Amissville location. I asked the cashier for $20 worth of Diesel on pump number 6. I go to the pump and it wont turn on. "You're not operating it correctly," she says. So she comes comes out to "show me how." It didn't work for her, either. "You're not operating it correctly," I say. She slams the door in my face, then the other cashier points out that the $20 was put on pump 3, not pump 6. So they both start pushing buttons and yelling, "Try it now." I try pump 6 and it still doesn't operate. I went back inside, told them I cannot waste any more time on this and I wanted the $20 back. She says, "Well, you used 25 cents worth before the pump shut off." Hard to believe, since the pump never came on, but OK, here's a quarter. Then she hands me $19.75. I told her I just gave her a quarter, so she owed me the entire $20. She never did comprehend this third grade math problem. I left, never to return. I patronize other Mayhugh's locations without incident, but there is something seriously wrong with the employees at this Amissville store. The democrats need to investigate.

On several visits i saw employees doing drugs outside, when i informed management nothing was done. The employee i saw on my next visit had written " mind your business" on the back glass dirt of her vehicle. I only buy kerosene there nothing else and i no longer take my grandson with me.

Mayhugh's is always there for me whenever I need a quick gallon of milk, carton of eggs, or thing of bacon for sunday morning breakfast. The cashiers are always very pleasant and friendly to talk with. A big plus is that you can fill your gas tank while stopping in here. Love my little Amissville and the people in it.

Nice little convenience store that has almost everything you need, but prices are somewhat high except for energy drinks. You can buy an energy drink for 99 cents! Employees are helpful too...
