Second time in a week that power has went out middle of the day in the heat. I’m disabled and I can understand when it’s bad weather but it’s bright sunny and no accidents and I have no power. Not only that but someone used my card number that wasn’t even my account to try and pay for someone’s power. All around a joke.

Do everything in your power not to live in an area serviced by this greedy, out of touch, and poorly ran company. There are more outages than anywhere else I’ve lived, and constant surges and brownouts. They have shady business practices designed to make your bill artificially higher every month. For a nonprofit, it seems they only care about squeezing every last dollar out of their customers.

I like the Southside service and reliability. I think they maintain their power line right of ways very well in our rural area..However access to customer service when needed is non-existant ! Stupid automated menue does not function no matter what button it tells you to press. I just keeps returning to the main menue directory and starts all over again. No customer service numbers that function are available on line and now I've just waisted more time leaving this complaint which nobody will read!!

Worst people to deal with. I'm on disability, limited , I'm thankful but it won't go far. I try to pay. But few times a year I get lil behind, but am fortunate to get the fuel assistance twice yrly, I'll call request extra time, or inform them I'm also waiting for the pre-approved money to be sent to them. And they know I get it. It's on my records. They won't give you but a few days if that. Or last year they did cut my lights off. I borrowed to pay bill. Call and what they did was terrible, added a new deposit on top of the bill and a cut on fee on top of paying the entire bill I had been begging for help with. That is dirty, u know this person.is needing help, asking for lil time, and they go and add hundreds of money to it. They are terrible company.the worst I have ever dealt with. I live there because I need too I been there now for 5yrs.

Not sure what all the other reviewers are complaining about. Rates are on-par with other power companies and customer service has been fine. We have an outage every once in a while but no more often than other rural electric providers. They send out tree trimmers every 7 years or so and sprayers once or twice a year, always with an automated phone call a day or two before they come. Having power disconnected for a load panel replacement went smooth as well.

I paid my bill 12 days early with the automated system and was given a confirmation number. One week later I receive a letter threatening shut off on power even thought it was not even the due date!!!! Upon calling I was told my banking information was entered wrong and would have to pay a $25.00 fee. Manager Amber refused to not wave that fee. What is the confirmation number for if it doesn't work?

SEC will not return calls or follow up on calls they do answer. Been waiting for months for a reply. The people that answer calls are helpful but the people they forward your call to do nothing to solve issues only excuses why they can't get to it

Overpriced and unwilling to work with customers. I would have never moved to their district had I of known how greedy this electric company is.Update: They are also liars. They have continuously lied to me and mistreated me.

In my fours years here, they have always taken care of power outages in good time considering all the wooded areas they have to navigate through.

Not that a review matters or that SSE cares since they are a monopoly, but I'm leaving it anyway. 1.) They are WAY overpriced. 2.) Insist on sending a lousy and unwanted magazine that I tried to stop (Global warming anyone?) 3.) They come onto your property to do a hatchet job on your trees without any notice.No utility has ever made me wish so much that I were able to live off the grid. I just can't find anything good to say after being a customer for about 25 years.
