Farzan was our project manager. From our first meeting it was clear that he had vision and was able to guide us to how we could build out our walk out basement into a very nice and highly functional inlaw apartment, or ALU as it is called. Farzan also assisted with the necessary permits and basically did what they said they were going to do, and did it in a timely fashion. The project moved along swiftly. He also exhibited flexibility with our selections and worked to address any concerns we had along the way to ensure that we were satisfied.

Cyrus Construction/NOVA Basement Finishing performed a multiple-level renovation of our existing home in Annandale. This is our first renovation project and the team at Cyrus Construction/NOVA Basement Finishing walked us through the process from start to finish, from meeting with us before the start of the project to get our vision of how the house should function, to helping us pick out the various materials and finishes for the project in the company’s showroom, and making sure the quality of work met our standards after the project was finished. The house was aging and the team at Cyrus/NOVA greatly improved the functionality for our family; we couldn’t be more thrilled with the look and feel of the new space!Services: Home renovations

We relocated to the Alexandria/Springfield area a few months ago and decided that we wanted to finish our basement in our single-family home. After obtaining a few bids, we settled on Cyrus Construction. In the end, we could not have been any more pleased with our decision. The project manager (Farzan Beyrami) was superb and displayed professionalism at all times. The job actually started ahead of schedule and completed ahead of schedule. The basement looks fantastic. Nova Basement Finishing, in conjunction with Cyrus Construction, just completed a basement renovation at our home in Falls Church, Va. They took an unfinished basement and turned it into a beautiful space. We added a half bathroom, egress window, a storage closet, and closets for HVAC. The bid, material selection, permits, etc processes were all seamless and expertly handled. They started the project on time and finished in the estimated construction timeline. I was very pleased with the crew, who was diligent and did their best to minimize disruption, and contain and cleanup the inherently messy process. The team was also very responsive on questions and concerns that arose during the project. They also kept us well informed when water or electricity had to be shutoff for brief periods and coordinated with us to minimize the impact. Overall, I am very happy with the finished project, the crew, and whole team who supported the project. We are very much looking forward to using this new space!Service: Basement remodeling

Review of 2021 basement/TV room remodeling by Cyrus ConstructionThe good folks at Cyrus Construction completed another excellent remodeling project for us. They installed new framing, upgraded electrical with new wall outlets and more of them, installed new recessed lighting, put cable outlets on opposite walls, repainted the walls and ceiling, and installed new luxury vinyl tile. They enlarged the opening to our crawlspace and replaced the door. The crafts persons were usually parked in front of our house waiting to begin when I got up each morning. They cleaned the workspace often, and they were quick to accommodate my requests for quiet when I had a telework meeting in my office next door. We are extremely pleased with their work. This is the second major job they have completed for us, and we will definitely go back to them again for more remodeling work.Service: Remodelling

Went w/ Russel (Cyrus Construction) from Cyrus not because his estimate was the cheapest, but because of his professionalism. Quickly impressed me as someone who would stand behind and guarantee his work. Quality work, professionalism, flexibility and standing behind your work is more important in my book than being cheapest. Russel and his team delivered on all fronts! As with any remodel, hiccups occurred that extended the timeline, but most delays were my own fault as I dragged my feet picking out fixtures, tile, etc. All my issues / concerns were immediately remedied. Despite a BUSY schedule, Russel was responsive and always eager to look for opportunities to get work done. We did have one small problem with a worker not securing our front door via the lockbox / key. This happened once, and upon being notified of our concern, Russel did not allow that worker back on our job. I LOVE our new bathroom and am glad we went w/ Russel & Cyrus construction!Service: Remodelling

UPDATE - the best contractors step up when there is an issue. Small register problem and Russell bent over backwards to solve it after the fact. Would give 6 stars if possible. Everything below holds true!Russell is outstanding to work with. He provided great vision on the basement remodel, was easy to schedule and gave great suggestions on finishes. His offices are professional and his staff is polite. Additionally, (and most importantly) he took his time describing the best places to make upgrades and where it was going to be less valuable. I worked with several other contractors for a basement quote and he was by far the best. I’ll note, we’ve not started work yet, but based on the pictures and review from other customers very excited and confident it will be great!

I initially found this team on Angie's List and I'm so glad I did. Russell was very prompt to reply to my inquiry and we quickly got moving on a proposal and planning of a base reconfiguration, masterbath and pantry remodel. Russell made planning the project, and working within our budget, easy from 1,000 miles away. Once we got moved to the area we got to know the crew well and they were always so professional, detail oriented and cleaned up every evening when they were finished for the day. I was particularly impressed with one of their tile workers who tiled our shower nonstop one day and did the most beautiful job! He's clearly an artist. Russell was always so easy to touch base with by email, text or phone and he was frequently calling us to make sure things were going well and see if we had any questions. We elected to do some painting and demo ourselves, to save money, and Russell still managed to get us what we're wanting with the money we have to spend. We're so happy with our new masterbath, pantry and basement that we're adding a contract to have our kitchen remodeled and new floors put down. Seriously hire Russell and his crew for ANYTHING you need. You'll be glad you did!Services: Drywall installation

Farzan (our Project Manager), James (the owner), and the entire crew did a fantastic job of keeping the project on time and on budget. We love our new basement, and we sincerely thank Cyrus Construction for their professionalism and commitment to customer satisfaction.

We hired Cyrus Construction to update an early 1960s home. Work included complete gutting & modernizing 3 bathrooms, kitchen; rebuilding recreation room from foundation walls, adding flooring to basement, updating electrical panel & distribution, & lighting.Bathroom project included painting & modernizing all bathrooms, swapping placement of sink & toilet drains in 2 of the 3, adding shower to 1 & tiling floors.We highly recommend Cyrus Construction, Fairfax, VA & Russel Blake as Project Manager/Lead. We were extremely impressed with his professionalism, extensive knowledge & experience. Russel was a joy to work with, and we would definitely employ him again in a heart-beat!Throughout, Russell led the project & assisted us with design, material selection (Cabinets, hardware, countertops & flooring, vanities & plumbing fixtures, bathroom tile & design). Part of our decision to choose Cyrus was based on our initial visit to the Fairfax, VA office where we met with Russell & he showed us a wide variety of material samples.The various work crews were thorough & conducted themselves professionally at all times. They were conscientious and we could see they took pride in their work; were extremely efficient, cleaned up the work site when done, were helpful when we had questions/requested changes/modifications to initial plan as the project progressed. Entire project was estimated to take 8 weeks and was completed in 10 (including changes).

Called them because I loved the website/ designs. Russell came out and was nice. I had a proposal sent to me and a call from Russell letting me know they were sent. He said that he couldn't give me a picture of what the finished design would look like and that I would have to drive to the office to see that because I could take the design to other contractors. I just don't think this is a nice way to talk to potential customers. I told him that previous contractors had sent pictures, and asked him to even send a picture pencil/ paper just to show me where things would be and such. I honestly don't understand why that was a problem. He said that other contractors would not send me designs with projects (aka calling me liar). I asked for a manager I was told there was no one. I called later and asked to speak with a manager and I was told that there wasn't one and he wasn't authorized to even tell me the name of the manager. Hopefully this saves someone from leaving work early to meet with Russell who won't give you an idea of the finished project until you drive to their office which is definitely some type of sales tactic. Really disappointed in these guys.

We hired Cyrus Construction to finish our basement, including upgrade a half bathroom to a full bath. Before making our decision, we met with James and he shared his vision for the project and several design options. We had a few concerns during the project, however James was quick to come onsite, listen to our concerns and quickly bring a new crew to the project to keep things on track and on schedule. We are very pleased with the quality of their work and the finished product.

This Company does excellent work! They are professional, easy to work with and pleasant to be around. When they are done with the work, they do a great job of cleaning the space. The turned my unfinished basement into a beautiful basement apartment. They also tore down my old, small wooden deck and replaced it with a large, gorgeous, composite deck. The Basement apartment included two bedrooms, 1.5 baths (with shower for full bath), a full eat-in kitchen, living room and laundry room. I couldn't ask for higher quality. They are honorable people and do what they commit to do. They place customer service at a high premium.

Our basement utility/laundry room was unfinished, dark, grubby, and inconvenient. James appreciated that we wanted a bright, functional work place rather than a spendy total renovation. He suggested several practical changes at a reasonable price. Since we were expecting family guests for Thanksgiving, it was necessary to complete the work as fast as possible. Cyrus rose to the challenge magnificently, and was a pleasure to work with. We are very pleased with our bright, open, functional work space. We appreciated the ease of communication, and close cooperation were very satisfied with our experience with Cyrus Construction.
