Nice community. Prompt friendly maintinance. Ample parking and quiet neigbors. Only thing is pet owners arent cleaning up after pets. And the Playground is not in a safe place. Its right next to the street leaving kids at risk. The dog park is in a safer location than the playground. There is ample open space for a bigger safer playground for the kiddos.

I lived here for 14 months, the entire time I lived there I never once had a light outside my unit, despite contacting maintenance over a dozen times, I eventually gave up. This was by far the most poorly managed place I’ve lived at in the DMV. While the apartments are spacious and nicely renovated, the horrible management just made the whole experience very sour. They’d never answer the phone or emails, they were never particularly polite when I’d show up in person to make complaints.

I lived here for 10 months. Our apartment was renovated and relatively nice. We had serious issues with squirrels living in our air vents that were never resolved. It was annoying and unsanitary.
When we moved out they tried to charge us for carpet replacement unfairly. I almost took them to court because what they were citing as damage was really normal wear and tear.
I moved out in February of this year. I have been waiting 5 MONTHS for my deposit back. I have documentation that I should receive a full refund on my deposit. I have exchanged no fewer than 15 emails about this refund. I keep getting promised that it will arrive and it hasn’t. They claimed to have sent it to an address I have never heard of and did not put on my move out paperwork. That was almost 2 months ago, now they have the right address and are still withholding my money.
DO NOT MOVE HERE.

Update a/o 7 July 2024: The leasing office wasting their time responding to this review is the most response I have received from the new property management (what's worse is that it was all written when the property was Cushman and not Greystar.)
I HAVE reached out, new henley managers. I have submitted THREE maintenance requests regarding the weed smell in my apartment. I have been in the office, where LILY promised to post notices reminding tenants that smoking weed in the units is illegal (and inconsiderate). I tried emailing directly through the portal, but there are weird errors that don't allow me to send anything. I have even sent messages through the "contact us" form on your public website. No response on your part. And don't tell me to call if you won't pick up!
You don't need me to call anyway. You know what's wrong. Stop allowing people to get away with things because you're too scared to act. And please vet the residents better. Henley allowed a section 8 resident who was arrested in my building because of criminal activity seen through the window.
OG Post: Went into the leasing office to ask to break my lease today. There's dog feces everywhere (Lyon said it was the "worst he's seen it," but there's no effort to pick it up), marijuana wafting through the complex 24/7, and people leaving full MEALS on the ground. To include COOKED pork and chicken bones— which can kill dogs— but you can guarantee your neighbors don’t care. I hate to use “ghetto”, but that’s what this complex has become.
The leasing office turns a blind eye to emails sent to the distro, picking and choosing what emails they respond to. They also blame problems on “your neighbors” for “not paying rent,” but it just sounds to me like they don’t know how to enforce the rules they’ve set.
Wish me luck leaving this place.
Edit a/o 9 APR 2024: Walked into my apartment smelling like weed because, I think, my neighbors are hotboxing in the bathroom. Neighbors dump their unsecured trash in the breezeway and play loud music until 10pm on weeknights.
The leasing office has stopped responding to me, but they send THE SAME LONG EMAIL on picking up pet waste almost everyday. It's spam and, to no one's surprise, there's still poop around the neighborhood. I recommend spending less time responding to reviews...

As a temporary solution, this place seemed like the best option at the time but my apartment is a mess; specifically the kitchen. If you just don't care about aesthetics or you plan on renting an upgraded unit, than maybe living here will suit you. At the time of touring, we didn't look that closely at our apartment because we needed something asap, which I really regret not doing. However, the classic floor plan is VERY different than the classic pictures shown on the website and on the google photos. Our appliances alone are about 30 years old and it's 2024...We're paying $1800+ for this unit all just to get appliances that are older than me. For a standard size laundry hamper, it takes me 6 loads to finish it because the laundry machine is so small - how is this efficient?? The kitchen in my unit is probably the biggest flaw in the whole unit and it drives me crazy; the stove burners don't sit even and wobble so all the pans are tilted when cooking. The counter next to the stove was LITERALLY cut in half and glued together and supported up by cardboard! Don't believe me? See the pics for yourself. There's all kinds of weird stuff glued on top of the surface of the counters which makes me wonder what the heck the previous renters were doing in this unit and why the maintenance staff here have no standards to fix these flaws before a new tenant moves in. Not to mention the garbage disposal in my unit doesn't work and I ended up pulling out several nails from it yet the disposal still doesn't work. Ugh. There's no storage available so you're forced to get a storage unit elsewhere. Several doors in my apartment do not close or open completely as the door frames seem to be shifting due to humidity in the apartment or bad installation. All of the above has been reported to the office after moving in but we have yet to hear back from them on when any of our concerns will be taken care of. Don't get me started on the office either; they rarely answer the phone (they'll even lie right to your face and tell you the phones don't work, yet when you call right in front of them the phones ring), and when you go to the office you're wasting away because there isn't enough staff members there to help out. To be fair, on the positive note I like the dog park and the abundance of dog waste bins available and the community is overall friendly; The bus stop is also right outside the community and shopping is near by which is the only reason why I gave this place an extra star.

Lived at Henley at Kingstowne apartments in Alexandria, Va. for 2 years. Presently, the new management team is transitioning still. Henley’s units are old and needs revamped. The balcony is old, weak, and unsafe. The window screens are out dated and don’t fit the windows properly. The balcony screen is torn, old, and fail to fit the window properly. So the bugs have a field day entering my unit through the old broken window and balcony screens. I asked for replacements, but never received them. Tub squeaks and feel as if it’s going to cave in. Head of maintenace is inexperienced and needs replaced. If head of maintenace shows up to handle your maintenace issues forget about it, because nothing is getting repaired. The apartment’s structure is poorly constructed that dog poop seeps into my home from the outside daily. And I don’t own a dog. Dog poop is literally everywhere in Henley’s community. Some dog parents allow their dogs to poop near your vehicles, on the sidewalks, near the buildings, and everywhere except at the dog parks. The kids have no where to play, because dog poop is everywhere. It’s so much dog poop that I feel like I’m living in an infested environment. I smell poop everywhere!. It’s annoying stepping in poop everywhere you walk in Henley’s community. Dog poop odor seeps through my closed windows. I can even smell the over-filled dog poop trash container that’s located near my building outside. I feel management is failing to police these non-complying dog parents that’s going against the lease policies. Plus it’s unfair to non-dog owners to be subjected to such, because it’s a hazard to our health. If you don’t want to live in a dog poop environment with dilapidated buildings and a poor maintenace supervisor that careless about fixing anything move to the Hensley’s community. You’ll be furious if you do. I dislike living in Henley’s community and eagerly waiting for my lease to end. I really hate the direction Henley is heading.

Neighborhood is often being sold to new companies and staff do not take some complaints seriously it seems. There is water damage in our current apartment that will likely never get fixed. Had a mice problem in our last apartment within the neighborhood and they denied we had them! Mice droppings were everywhere too. Wouldn’t recommend wasting your time here.

Looking at the reviews, doesn’t seem like this place is doing anything to change. I’ve left voicemails, and reached out multiple times through Zillow to see a unit as I’m interested in the property and no one is responding. Why post vacancies if you don’t want to rent out your units?

Very unprofessional staff and front office. They don’t even seem like they know what they are doing. Turned up multiple times for tours and they are either closed (even though an appointment is booked) or they give the wrong key for the tour or they spend ages trying to find simple paper work. They didn’t turn up to my appointment and increased the rent by 200/m for the apartment I was interested in. They refused to even consider matching the price to what it was when I came to tour twice and potentially apply with them falling short on their end. Disappointed in their customer service as a potential resident so I would be worried how unresponsive and unprofessional they would be in regards to my needs if I were to become a resident

I love living at Henley in Kingstowne. Not only is this one of the best locations to live in the DMV (access to great amenities and close to metro & highway), but the staff is amazing! Very friend, kind, and prompt. When I submit a maintenance request, they get to it quickly. But the office staff is the best part. I’ve lived in a lot of different apartment complexes, and Danielle and Curtia are hands down the best I’ve experienced! I plan to stay until it’s time to buy.

I have had the pleasure of residing in my current property for over a decade, and throughout this extended tenure, the stellar customer service provided by our property management team has consistently exceeded expectations. Their responsiveness, efficiency, and genuine concern for residents have made my living experience truly exceptional.Recently, while on holiday, I found myself in need of new keys for my residence. Despite being hundreds of miles away, a simple email to the property management office initiated a swift and seamless process. The responsiveness displayed by the management team was nothing short of remarkable. Not only did they understand the urgency of the situation, but they also ensured that the replacement keys were promptly provided to my caretaker, demonstrating a commitment to customer satisfaction that goes above and beyond the norm. This incident is just one shining example of the exemplary service that has become synonymous with our property management. Over the years, their consistent dedication to addressing resident needs promptly and effectively has played a significant role in my decision to remain a tenant for over a decade.Beyond the individual instances of exceptional service, it's the overall atmosphere of hospitality that permeates our neighborhood, thanks in no small part to the efforts of the property team. Their commitment to keeping a friendly and neighborly environment contributes immeasurably to the sense of community that defines our quaint neighborhood. Moreover, the management's unwavering support for pet-friendly living adds an extra layer of warmth to our community. As a pet sitter (on occasion), I appreciate their understanding and accommodation of our furry family members, creating an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere for all residents.I wholeheartedly recommend our neighborhood to anyone in search of not just a residence but a true home. The combination of a welcoming community and thoughtful property managers makes it a unique and delightful place to live. If you value stellar customer service and a charming community spirit, look no further – our neighborhood is the perfect place to call home.

I really enjoy this community I’ve seen a lot of changes since the pool party back in July. A sense of community has really formed here. I often see the property manager working late and willing to assist ANYONE that comes in.

It say be a good idea to cross this one off your list. The leasing staff has been quite professional. This is the second time I have not been able to tour for my scheduled appointment time. From the reviews, it seems that courtesy and unprofessionalism has been a problem at this property.
