When I came to Foundation Fitness it was the first time I had ever walked into a gym. The twice weekly sessions have been terrific. Ester is so very good at what she does. She is very focused on form and provides excellent feedback to be sure I am doing the exercises correctly and getting the most out of them. Ester is encouraging and positive and just a pleasant person to be around. There are never more than a few people training at any given time and everyone is very friendly. CJ (owner) is very responsive if you ever need anything. I am so grateful to have found this gym and to have been connected with Ester.

I needed to get active again after years of working from home. I have some physical limitations and needed guidance and modifications that workout videos couldn't provide. Ive been coming to Foundation Fitness for 10 months and they always have a modification to keep me working towards my goals. The trainers care about their clients and the environment is comfortable and low stress. The other clients are a friendly community of different folks aiming for their own personal goals too. Foundation Fitness is exactly what I was looking for - a supportive place to receive guidance, work on my goals, and stay encouraged to continue the course. If you want a personalized program catered to your goals and a low key community of others focused on achieving personal goals, Foundation Fitness is the place for you!

Foundation Fitness and its trainers are excellent. I’ve been working with Nigel over a year and have had a great experience. My goals have changed over time since working with him and he has adjusted my workouts to match my goals. He is always paying attention to correct form when I need it. Great gym, very friendly, and excellent quality of training. Highly recommend!

I have had such a positive experience at Foundation Fitness over the past (almost) year! I’d had a series of injuries over the last few years and needed to get stronger - without fear of further injuring myself. The team at Foundation Fitness and most especially Ester and CJ have been amazing in working with me to understand my specific needs/challenges and helping me work toward my goals and get stronger. I particularly appreciate Ester’s attention to form and where my movements may need to be adjusted based on how my body is feeling/reacting (I’m hyper nervous about my back!). I’ve also found FF to be a fun, supportive and welcoming environment to work out in. My pup Blondie adds 5 (ok, 50) enthusiastic tail wags for Foundation Fitness - she also loves to stop by and visit on our walks!

My husband and I have been training with CJ since May and our workouts with him have easily become the highlights of our week. We started the process as a lead up to our wedding and it definitely made a huge difference in our confidence on the big day.CJ makes every workout interesting, difficult, and dare I say it, FUN. He always makes us feel like a priority and can turn an unmotivated day into one of our best workouts. Foundation Fitness is such a welcoming environment and we truly love every session we have there!

Foundation Fitness (and more specifically CJ) has been a fantastic experience for both myself and my wife. We started training to get in shape in advance of our wedding and CJ has motivated us to reach our goals while keeping sessions fun and varying workouts. He has taken a personal interest in our success and transformed workouts from a chore to something we look forward to. I’d highly recommend FF to anyone looking to prioritize their physical health and wellbeing.

I've been coming here about a year, so obviously I like it! Highly recommended. Nigel is awesome. Great with workout form, and he always keeps the workouts challenging. I've gained so much strength since I started coming here and, because Nigel switches up the workouts before I plateau, I'm still making gains one year in. Outstanding.

Foundation Fitness is top notch! I worked with CJ for several months earlier this year. He did a great job getting to know me - my strengths and limitations - and then customizing workouts that challenged me. The facility is clean and welcoming. Everyone is super friendly. I genuinely looked forward to working out there. Fingers crossed that I can figure out my work schedule and get back in the doors this fall.

For the first time ever, I LOVE GOING TO MY GYM and WORKING OUT!!! From the moment I sent my first email inquiring about their services to this very moment while writing this review, Foundation Fitness has been fantastic in every possible way. As a result, this review would be way to long if I tried to express all of the AMAZING aspects of Foundation Fitness of Old Town, Alexandria. So, I will hit the main points of interest. Bottom Line Up Front Foundation Fitness is an excellent choice. The workouts are motivational during the session and inspirational in between visits. Their trainers will meet you where you are and help take you to where you want to be. Initial Meeting CJ, the owner himself, has been amazing from the very beginning and did the following in our initial meeting: 1. responded to all of my emails, calls, and questions 2. quickly set up an initial consultation at a time convenient for me 3. conducted a thorough intake and initial assessment 4. took the time to learn why I wanted to work out and what I saw as my 1-month, 3-month, 6-month, and year-long goals 5. cultivated an understanding of my post-surgical/post-physical therapy needs 5. carefully and thoughtfully worked out a fitness plan to address my concerns after being out of the gym for a year due to an extensive surgery and slow-healing injuries Facilities and Trainers 1. The location is convenient. 2. The site and equipment is extremely clean. 3. The atmosphere is positive and motivating. 4. The trainers are kind, personable, professional, encouraging, and exceptionally knowledgable. My Experience Before starting at Foundation Fitness, I had spent a year healing from a tricky injury and recovering from an extensive surgery. As a result, I was extremely concerned about having workouts that are safely crafted to promote healing but also challenging enough to get me back to feeling like the pre-injury me. Not only has Foundation Fitness successfully addressed my concerns, but I am now starting to feel even stronger than the pre-injured me because my trainer is taking the time to teach me what correct exercise form is, how to avoid injury, and functional ways to use my workouts in every day life. I have now worked with Foundation Fitness for about 3 months. My routines are tailored just for me, are never repeated, are over quicker than I wished, and are hitting my goals faster than I ever expected or thought possible. Because I never liked working out before and was bored every single time while doing so, this is all simply miraculous for me. Before, I worked out because I had to do so even though I dreaded it. Now - because of Foundation Fitness - I work out because I love it, look forward to it, and can see results from it. Choosing Foundation Fitness as my gym has been the absolute best investment in my health this year

I have worked with Camas here for almost two years and am in the best shape I have probably ever been in. Passed my physical fitness test well above the standard which I could never have done on my own amd the environment feels very friendly and safe.

This personal training facility is filled to the brim with incredible trainers. CJ runs a tight ship and is so knowledgeable; every time I come in, it's new and fun. Everybody is welcome, and no matter your level, from beginner to seasoned athlete, he'll put you through an excellent regimen.

Stephanie is everything you can ask for in a trainer. She is knowledgeable, observant, listens well, and is always on time. Form is important to me to prevent injuries, she watches my form intently and under her direction I make adjustments as needed. Sometimes I have aches and pains from poor sleep and computer use, she listens to how I am feeling and switches the workout routine accordingly. I have been weightlifting since I was 10 and working with Stephanie for under a year. She has taught me so much and a truly value her input and support. I see so many benefits physically and mentally. Thank you:)

Highly recommend! They do more than just fitness - movement, injury recovery and strength. Trained with Nigel - top notch trainer. Very knowledgeable and personable. Pushed me to obtain my goals and helped me achieve them.
