inefficient office staff that fails to provide appointment notices even when requested. When patient shows frustration over inadequate office procedure they verbally attack the patient. Not sure how good or. bad the doctor is but staff is a nightmare. This office is one of the worst encountered in years and if office procedure and patient scheduling are such a problem one can only imagine how records, insurance and after care are. Not someplace to trust your vision to. After this experience I went to read reviews and so happy to have dodged this bullet. What a horrible place!

I saw Dr. Clubb and like her a lot ~ very thorough, down-to-earth, etc. However, she ordered a contact lens for me and after a month no one called to LMK it had arrived. I called and, sure enough, it was at the office. When I went to pick it up, there was a dog wandering around the office ~ I don't know one dog from another, but it was short-haired (grayish) and muscular/stout. I asked the receptionist about the dog and she informed it was Dr. Essepian's dog and that it was there whenever he was in the office. Really? How totally unprofessional and rude. What about people that are allergic to dogs? Afraid of dogs? Now I have to find a new eye doc.

This place is extremely unethical. They continously tried to charge me before filing with insurance. Luckily for a few I asked for a bill, but when I went to look back at previous, they did not file with my secondary... EVER. Now they are saying the deadline to submit was missed and are saying I'm obligated here, even though I clearly was guided they accepted both of my insurances. They did not respond to me trying to get more insights on the information. Do not go here - this is not the only review on their approaches of handling insurance. They do not care about the patient and I'm sure there are places that actually treat the patient better.

While the doctor is intelligent, I will say that this place is likely breaking the law. They have tried to bill me each time when I know for sure my benefits cover. It took some time for me to realize they did not even send a claim to my secondary insurance. When it took me time to realize the situation, it took a legal threat for them to actually respond to my inquiries. For the one's that go way back, they are now saying it is too late to file a claim and saying I owe this, even though they did not properly file the claim. This is the most unethical place. Unless you don't have insurance, don't go here as it is a scam.

It’s not often I leave good reviews but I had a great experience with Dr Essepian. He did very thorough testing to try and help me find the root of my concern. Also had helpful suggestions. He took the time to explain everything to me. Overall a good visit and would definitely recommend.

This place seems unprofessional. I got a text message this morning about an appointment I had made and SIX back to back calls where they called for a couple seconds, hung up, and called again. I'm assuming this is because I didn't answer their call on the 15th where they left a voicemail reminder? Perhaps it could also be their machine is severely messed up? Either way it's very unprofessional and not appropriate.

The business tried to charge me $81 for an eye exam, when my insurance has a $25 co-pay. When I attempted to explain this to the receptionist, the technician who performed the eye exam for my son jumped up from her desk, reached around the receptionist and physically grabbed the paper with my son’s eye glasses prescription out of my hand and told me that if I didn’t pay $81, I would not get the prescription. I told her that I would happily pay the $25 co-pay, but would not pay more. I informed her that I would go to another eye company, and told her that since she refused to give me my son’s prescription, I did not want a bill in the mail.
I received a bill from this company for $25. Since I did not get a prescription, I called the billing company to dispute the charge. I was informed I needed to speak to the office manager. They provided me with the name and phone number of Emily as the office manager. I called and left Emily a voicemail. Four days after leaving the voicemail, I had not heard back from Emily. On the fifth day after leaving a voicemail, I stopped by the office in person and requested to speak with Emily. I was informed that Emily worked in the Fairfax, Virginia office. I requested they contact Emily and have her call be back. After a day passes without hearing back from Emily I called the Fairfax office. A male answered the phone, I introduced myself and stated I had previously left a message for Emily and would like to speak with her. The man, who refused to provide me with his name, told me “I know all about you, you did not leave a message for Emily, and we stand by our decision”, after which he hung up the phone on me.
I called the Fairfax office back and requested, again, to speak to Emily. I was ultimately able to speak to Emily and she informed me that she couldn’t change the policy and you owe $25. I explained to Emily that I never received my son’s glasses prescription, to which Emily stated that I still owe the $25 co-pay.

Received a referral and was told my insurance would not be accepted. The doctor who would accept my insurance left years ago. Then why are you still in the system for referrals?

My family and I have been going to Dr. Essepian for over 25 years. Have always received prompt, excellent service. Can't imagine a better eye physician in town. He is excellent in his office functions and in surgical situations. Recommend him to all new patients entering the Northern Virginia area ( he has two locations ).George Robertson

I used to love this practice as Dr. McCabe was a gem. But then she left and every time I would go after that I would see a different doctor. One didn't even bother introducing himself when he came in the exam room. One said my eyes might be better if I ate more healthily. I am not overweight and so have never been body shamed by a doctor, until this day. I was aghast. I'm done with them.

I have been supported by Dr Essepian for over 15 years. He operated on my cateracts and cancelled my glaucauma. His medical knowledge and practice in Alexandria and Fairfax are not surpassed by others. Dr Stark treated an eye infection yesterday and my eye is back to Normal. What an dedicated pair of optomotrists and Drs. They are the best and my go-to optomotrists for all my eye health issues.
