Now under new ownership as Del Ray Hardware, there is slightly more room inside and it's a little easier to find what you are looking for. Staff are very friendly and eager to help and/or strike a conversation. Love that it was able to remain in the neighborhood. And that they are very dog friendly - we picked up a bag of pet safe ice melt and Penny utilizes the water bowl out front frequently. Plus, they have treats inside for any doggos who go shopping.

If you're going here to buy a riding lawn mower you're missing the point. I hope it stays because it's been so convenient to have in the neighborhood.

I'd give them TEN stars if I could. My ONLY go-to place for key copies, and for household and yard / hardware items - I always check here first. the owner and his team are super helpful and kind. (I see some past negative reviews about the female manager; unfortunately she died of a stroke in 2022. the new team is very service oriented). this is an old-school meticulous small business with a little bit of everything - and if they don't have it, they'll order it for you!

Very helpful. Gave us advice on finding a specific part needed and was accomodating even though we showed up right at closing time.

Chris is a delight - this place is an exemplary small business. I got a difficult key made here and service was excellent. While waiting, I had a look around the store and there were many hardware items that would benefit anyone needing items in a pinch without wanting to head over to a big box store. Highly recommend Executive!

Needed a new thermocouple for my heating system. I tried a store brand one from a big box store and it didn't fit. Called and asked if they had any in stock here and was informed they had multiple lengths and brands. Brought the one I was replacing down to the store and found a match (same as one I saw online at a different large box store but ELK had 6 there and the big retailer said they maybe had 2 on the shelf and was a further drive). Now I know to shop local even when looking for odds and ends hardware or plumbing fittings.True neighborhood gem and I will start swinging by here before I go to the big stores for my home hardware needs.

What used to be the gem of the neighborhood - the go-to local hardware store, where everything was available for the older homes in Del Ray and Beverly Hills is now. just a shallow memory of its former glory.Previously, it was well run, with knowledgeable employees who were eager to help and to find or order a tool, lock or whatever was needed. In the past year or so, there has been a change, the long-time employees were let go and replaced with less capable and far less willing to help workers.Yesterday my wife went to get a part there, when she arrived at 1:45 in the afternoon, there was a sign on the door stating that they would re-open at 2:00 - she waited. At 2:28 an employee shows up, six people in line, and he he eventually gets to my wife who says had the part in stock but not unpacked from a recent delivery. She asked when it would be available and he said later that day. When she went today, another employee said they did not have the part and he should not have told her that.I've gone in there several times the past few weeks and waited patiently while the clerk behind the counter gabs with another customer and the second employee is just standing around. Honestly, it feels like they don't care.Reluctantly I am no longer going to go to this store. I've been going there since 2007 - now, I'll go to Ace in Old Town or Cherry Dale hardware or even Loews on Route 1.It's too bad, but bad service will come back to haunt you.The problem is: I would very much like to support local and small business. I have and will continue to do so - but not Executive Lock and Key.

Called about two issues - locked out of a room in our building, and need to replace the locks on the front and back doors. Was told no one is available until a week later - we’re just supposed to tell people an entire section of our store is unavailable because there’s no locksmith available, I guess. Found another locksmith willing to come out today.

I had scheduled this locksmith to come to our property to install a deadbolt. There was a 2 hour window. He never showed up. I called 30 minutes after the 2 hour window and spoke to a women about the appointment. She said she didn't know anything about it but she was sure he'd show up and that he was running late. I asked her to have the locksmith call me and she intentionally hung up on me. Rude and inconsiderate. Never would I call them again. Terrible customer service.

I had the oddest experience with the woman working the counter this afternoon. No need to go into it but she couldn't have been much ruder or anymore unhelpful than she was. Writing this review for the owner so that he/she knows what's going. If she owns the store, so be it - she's free to run it however she wants. Can't imagine I'll be coming back for anything.

I called about 5 locksmiths and went to one other place. Nobody could help me. The lady at this place took her time and found a solution. Even though the master didn't exist she figured out a way to copy my key, which saved me from having to replace the lock altogether. Very helpful! The store also has everything (fans, tools, light bulbs, etc.), even though it's small.

Somewhat crazy, and very unhelpful, older woman working at the register this afternoon. Writing this review in hopes that the owner comes across it (assuming the woman I dealt with doesn't own the store). Could not have had a stranger experience. I technically was "yelled" at for asking how far a pair of pliers open up. Weird stuff. Unfortunately will not be coming back.

Visiting our son and family in Alexandria and staying with our grandson while he and his wife took a long-Covid-delayed honeymoon, we kept up with routines around the house. One routine was to be aware of the monthly mosquito treatment that required we keep the dog off the grass for some time. That technician arrived as scheduled and afterward, we found he had locked the chain to the side-yard gate that was kept unlocked once he was done. Unfortunately the key to that lock was missing and I needed to cut the backyard grass after the week-end downpour.Considering the options, my son recommended we contact Executive Lock & Key Service. After explaining the issue, I was told I could use their massive bolt cutter for free so off I went.Once the work was done on that gate and on the one on the other side of the house that we found also was missing a key, I returned it (OF COURSE!) and purchased a pack of 3-similar keyed locks to replace the now cut lock.Great customer service, customer relations and we now have our go-to local business for any other hardware or "lock & key" service should those needs arise.

Executive Lock and Key has been our go-to hardware store for years, but until recently I have never used their lock and key service. We recently bought a new home with too many different locks in various states of repair. Chris came by and rekeyed and replaced locks as necessary, and even adjusted a couple that weren't latching properly in the door frame. I highly recommend him for any locksmith work you might need. As a bonus, he shows up on time and is pleasant to deal with.
