Went in for a state inspection and failed to my shock- 2018 tiguan. The technician explained my rotors were the wrong size (too small/another story for another day) and my brakes were functioning improperly.Took it to the VW dealership for a double check, their "brake check" indicated nothing was wrong.After this clear report, I asked them to verify what DRSC told me, the dealership went back and verified my rotors were too small! Impressed these little shop picked up my and the dealership's mistake.

Horrible, terrible place to take your car. They will charge you above and beyond. They will make up lightbulbs that don’t exist that they want you to change. They quoted me over $2000 for repairs for a car that I got done for $ 750 at different gas stations. Do not go here. This place is a rip off!! ZERO STARS!!!!!

They have a tech that most probably does not love his job. I attempted to get my emissions inspection here today and the tech was so rude. Happy to look for service elsewhere from now on.It is understandable that they are busy. It is not an excuse for rudeness. I pulled up to ask where to park and he wouldn’t even look up. When he did, he gave no information and sent me to the office, then he mumbled something as I walked away. No thanks, I went to another way friendlier business where they were happy to help me.

Just had my state safety inspection done here and I recommend them fully. My car was failed the same day by Yates Automotive (down the street) for an issue that was bogus based on my every day use and clearly a money grab, hoping a woman wouldn’t know what they were doing (“your parking brake isn’t fully releasing, so we need to take it apart to see what the issue is”). Del Ray did their full inspection and passed the vehicle, asking “Why did they think something was wrong with the parking brake? It works fine.” I appreciated their honesty and that they didn’t try to upcharge for unnecessary work, which I’m learning is rare around here. I will be trying them for other maintenance and mechanical issues going forward. Thank you, Del Ray. Your ethics are noted and appreciated.

I took my car in for annual inspection, and they were friendly, honest, and efficient. My daughter took her car in as well and also had a great experience. The air pressure was low on her tires, and as a courtesy, they filled them. Highly recommend.

Tucked away in Del Ray they were very fast and got me in and out for my VA inspection quickly. There are several places to eat within a short walk.

For over a decade, I have been taking my cars for safety and emissions inspections to "Joe" at this Shell station, and the service has always been great. Although I've never made an appointment and other cars are invariably ahead of mine for service, the inspector, Joe, always greets me personally, never turns me away, and advises me of how long the inspection will take (usually 1-2 hours) so that I can plan my time usefully. In an era when "customer service" has become an anachronism, it's refreshing to come across someone like Joe--as personable as he is competent. Moreover, it bears noting that for a decade the cost of inspections has barely risen: today's service came to total of $20. Put me down as a very satisfied customer!

Got my inspections done, in and out in an hour. No fuss or difficulty. Across the street from restaurants and a coffee shop, so there is somewhere to wait. Solid service.

Recently posted on Neighbors: "Del Ray Service Center = scammers.I've learned not to take my car there for Safety Inspections as that "test" is way too subjective and DRSC had routinely failed me for ludicrous, non-relevant issues in the past that other stations later said we're not necessary for safety inspection. But since they are so close and since I figured for Emissions Inspection, they couldn't gin those up as it's run thru the DMV computers and tied to your vehicle VIN and the state testing equipment. Well, DRSC has found a work around, after 5 mins, mechanic comes in and says that my car failed emissions. I asked to see the computer printout. He said, "oh I didn't test it because it will fail, I heard a noise in the muffler and the insides are corroded.""Can you show me?""No, it's inside the muffler""So it never actually failed the emissions test""No, I didn't test it because I can't test it until I replace the tailpipe and muffler. It would be $1,025""OK, no thanks."Drove to a service station a few blocks away, and mechanic hooked car to testing equipment, ran the test and 5 mins later handed me the computer printout that indicated that it passed every test."

New to VA and went for state safety and emissions inspection. I went right at opening and was there with maybe 3 others in front of me. Was in and out in around 1.5 hrs. Note that the waiting area is fairly small but there are a few local businesses nearby for food and coffee or shopping so plenty to keep you occupied while you wait. I have an older vehicle that I maintain myself and didn't have any issues with the inspection besides a light that was out. Inspections appear to take 20-30 min from what I saw. Minor (not visible but can feel it) grease/grime on steering wheel and parking brake handle from handling but that seems to be the norm anytime I get my car serviced somewhere. Will likely come again and will update in the future if the quality of service changes.
