Wow. Horrible service. How do you get your hair done here and they don't even show you the back. Half my hair is just half curled and when I asked her to fix it she just shrugged. Say to wait for my appointment for 30 minutes that was confirmed a week ago. Went home to fix what she did and all I got was a blow-dry. How do you mess up a blow dry service???

A wonderful salon! I had been frequenting a popular chain salon in Dulles, always came away with a dissatisfied feeling. Decided to try Lunaz (with Francis), have been several times now, and love it! Francis is knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. She really takes her time with her clients, which has resulted in my hair looking and feeling better than it has in years! I am also loving my Kevin Murphy products purchased at Lunaz. If I could give this salon 10 stars, I would!!?

I've had TWO separate appointments and TWO very different experiences at this salon. I initially was nervous about checking this salon out because I have unprocessed hair (textured/natural) but I needed a deep condition and a haircut. So, I called to inquire about their experience with textured hair. I spoke with Francis and she mentioned they have a stylist who specializes with textured hair but wasn't in that day. Francis did mention they have a stylist who is familiar with textured hair and could accommodate my needs that very day if needed. So, I came in and was seated with a Latina named Jasmine. Let me tell you, Jasmine took her time and handled my hair with care. I received a gentle wash and deep condition with the Kevin Murphy products, she properly blew out my hair with an ionic brush and flat ironed my hair with curls better than some of the black stylists I've seen over the years. Amazing! (5 star rating) Now, because I had such a great experience with Jasmine I decided to come back and see what the experience would be with the stylist who actually specialized in textured hair. Booked an appointment at 2 pm January 18th, with a black girl named Cookie but unfortunately she couldn't show due to car issues. She offered to reschedule for later that day, but I couldn't. Luckily, Francis still tried to accommodate me and said Jasmine could do my hair. I wasn't opposed since I had a great experience last time. So, Francis washed my hair and was in the process of deep conditioning my hair when Cookie arrived. Cookie had apologized for missing the appt. earlier and offered to finish processing my hair. I could almost immediately tell the difference in care and professionalism between these stylists. My head and HAIR was tossed, yanked, pulled, and BURNED by the time Cookie had finished my blow out. Anytime, I would ask a question about her methods, she would mention she has years of experience with natural hair, however; her technique and the products for a natural blowout are terrible. Mizani Thermasmooth hair products have Parabens and Sulfates, ok with relaxed but terrible for natural hair. She used a paddled brush(???) to blow dry my hair (my hair wasn't fully dry), she sprayed some Mizani Thermasmooth mist on each strand before she flat ironed my hair (BIG NO NO) before going in with her CHI flat iron. So, you get to hear and smell your hair burning through the press. Once done, she was on to the next person as if she had performed this grand service. She told Francis to charge me $70 (for the shoddy wash, blow-dry, and flat iron). Francis, clearly felt bad about my experience and could tell how dissatisfied I was and offered me a discount, then told me to ask for Jasmine or herself next time, which I will. My feedback for Cookie is be open to criticism because your specialty is not in natural hair at this current time, your technique and knowledge for natural hair care is out-of-date. I definitely would suggest you do some research and read up on modern day techniques and processes for natural hair if your going to hold this specialty and represent this salon in the best way. The Kevin Murphy products are better for natural hair more than Mizani (BIG GIVE AWAY). Also, be more gentle, take your TIME, and listen to your clients if they have a suggestion. I'll be back and hopefully we can get from 2 stars to 5 stars.

Worst hair experience of my life! BUYER BEWARE! I went in to get a shadow root/color melt. The woman who I think is the manager, told me she could do it no problem. She also convinced me to do an olaplex treatment and get a trim. Not to mention she made me wait while she went in the back and applied color to her own hair, then rushed through the rest of my hair so she could rinse her color out. So she had hair dye on her own hair while doing mine. Really unprofessional. When I walked out of the salon my roots were BLACK and spotted! It was AWFUL! She made it three to five shades darker than my natural root color. It's not even the color that was the worst part though. It was spotted all over my head! When I got home I told her I'd pay for the cut and olaplex treatment but I'd like a refund for the color. She told me if I didn't like it, not to worry because she didn't use permanent color and it would wash out after a few shampoos. Then she agreed finally to refund me for the color while proceeding to tell me she wasted product on me. I had to spend $480 at a different salon for a color correction, and another haircut because upon further inspection, I realized my ends were completely uneven, so I had to get that fixed too. I called Lunaz Salon to inquire about my refund and she told me they don't offer credit cars refunds and I'd have to come in to get cash. I thought it was weird she never mentioned that the first time we spoke, but I said ok and said I'd also like a refund for my cut because it was completely uneven. She started talking over me, yelling, and then told me she was going to refund me for the color, but now she's not refunding me anything and then hung up on me. I'll be reporting her to the VA Cosmetology license board as well as BBB. I tried to be nice at first and she walked all over me. Worst hair service and customer service I've ever experienced in my entire life.

Nice job on my hair, loved the work by lily and the owner. They covered my slightly showing grey hair with a spray as well, styled the hair to suit my face. Got lots of praise.

Made an appointment for single process root touch up blonde when my usual girl at another salon couldnt do it. Francis, at Lunaz, decided my hair looked too brassy so she put lavender in the formula (without asking me). When I arrived home I thought my hair looked weird only to discover that my roots are now purple/lavender. Worst place ever. Didnt even offer to give my money back.
