My wife went here and was looking for baking soda, she approached one of the staff members and asked. He visibly rolled his eyes, sighed, and goes "should be in the baking section". Part of me feels this was racially influenced the way he looked at us. Either way we felt very uncomfortable.

I definitely recommend shopping somewhere else. The prices for this store are at least about 25 percent higher than other places. The produce are not very fresh either considering the high cost and I have often seen expired food on the shelf. It's such a shame that they get away with this because the competition in the area is limited.

I go here for the proximity convenience otherwise Wegmans & Sprouts are my go to. The produce isn't the best, the meat department is good and everything is always available. Today my review is based on a new hire. Luke, assuming he's a teenager working for the summer. I'd suggest prior to putting new hires on the register, to have them learn the different produce and how to look up items that wont scan. Luckily, he had an amazing trainer, young lady, dark hair, nose piercing l, incredibly kind, asked me how's my day, did I find everything I needed, she was pleasant. Luke didn't greet and fumbled on the register. The young lady took over and I checked out. This is the third time, my card hasn't processed at this location and my bank issued a text that their system isn't functioning. Luckily I keep cash on me. As a former cashier, it would be helpful to acclimate the cashiers with the produce and register basics before dealing with customers. There is an art to great customer service and it's getting lost. Thanks to the young lady for stepping in and up to remediate this situation.

Bad customer service and long lines to check out. The managers are just standing behind the counter and not helping.

The workers in here are wonderful but I caught a manager talking down to a worker on Saturday. I gently reminded him that a "Please" goes a long way. He does try to argue with me but I am not there to argue and repeated what he said. It's 2 days later but it went like this : "Your going to do what I tell you to do when I tell you to do it" is not the nicest way to treat an employee, particularly when customers are around. That broke my heart for that worker. Then he claims they are friends and tried to argue with me. The employee was quiet, understandably. He is a manager and in a supervisory position over that person. I pay a premium to shop at Harris Teeter over Wal-Mart for the quality of the fruit, berries, meat, and veggies. However, even Wal-Mart supervisors use Please and even Thank You or even a fist bump with their workers. -2 for the mean manager. +3 for the general awesomeness of this store.

I was in the area and needed to pick up a few things so I decided to check out this Harris Teeters - wow! I have to say I think this is the nicest HT I've ever been in. It's enormous, clean, well organized, well stocked and has just those few touches to make it feel extra (check out the embellishments on the aisle directory signs - fancy!). I even found some items that have been difficult to find elsewhere (supply chain issues I'm sure). Check out was super fast and the cashier was friendly. My purchases were bagged properly (food separate from cleaning supplies - yay!). Overall just a super pleasant shopping experience. Also, there's a Starbucks inside for my fellow caffeine addicts out there.

The workers at this Harris Teeter are rude. I was there shopping in the morning the workers do not move out of your way when you are shopping. They act as if they don’t see you so they don’t have to move. I asked one worker for about a product in produce and I can tell I was disturbing him. I asked if they had an item and he just shook his head and went back to what he was doing. He didn’t acknowledge me or even ask if I needed help with anything else. All the workers stocking the shelves in dairy were super rude. They was a guy was a Bluetooth on his head arranging the yogurt shelves. I had to look at the shelves from a distance because he refused to acknowledge my presence or move out the way. I kept having to go on each side of him to see whether they had was I was looking for. Again he didn’t ask if I need help he made it very obvious that he didn’t want to be bothered. Another guy stocking the cheese made it very clear that he was annoyed that I was in his way trying to find the American cheese slices. Instead of asking if I need help he got an attitude instead. There are so many other places to shop in Northern Virginia with good customer service, don’t go there unless you are ok with limited selection, rude workers, and absolutely no customer service

There’s two security employees who keep following me around and staring at me. I think it’s because I’m not white. I guess hispanic people aren’t welcome here

coming from pa to va and no acme, shop rite etc. is a real shock. had no choice but to shop harris teeter. not impressed. must check all food for expiration dates, to be on the safe side. bought a large pack of stewing beef, froze it to use, when defrosted, i had to throw half out hidden underneath all fat. this store does not know how to cut deli meat or cheese-cheese was all broken on the ends and turkey asked to slice thin was nothing but broken pieces. i stopped buying all above mentioned items since i really feel that i should not have to go back to return food items. i sure wish they were more alternative's in food shopping in va. going to giant and aldi more and harris teeter less-too many problems with items. iceberg lettuce threw 2 out due to being totally rotten inside who the heck is going to return lettuce, but meanwhile you now have none to make a salad.....................

Just ok experience here shopping at this location. Many items they were out of or the employees had no clue where they were. Usually near my home I do curb side pick up from another grocery store so going into store with my sister before thanksgiving was a experience I haven't done in a while. They were pretty busy and I hope they open some more lanes for check out because doing self check out with a full cart is no fun. Overall I rather go back to my virtual shopping instead of looking for items and taking a long time with the process. But grocery shopping for my sister relaxes her and she had no problem is taking a long time. To each their own.

Harris Teeter management quickly addressed an issue with a very rude cashier. Very professional and excellent service. Been coming here for over 15 years.

Still a fan of Harris Teeters. Updating my review to indicate our reliance on the Express Lane during the COVID pandemic. This service has been for years, but I suspect it's getting used a lot more now. The service adds another $5 to you bill for the convenience (and added safety) of having someone do the shopping, bagging, and having it delivered at the press of a button to your car. Seniors get this service for free, while the promotion lasts. On the one hand, HT seems to care for it's older patrons with free Express Lane pickup and $5 delivery for seniors, but on the other hand, it only began (as of two days ago) requiring regular patrons to wear facemasks. That's at least 4 months into this crisis. Anyway, you still have to spend the time to shop online and compare prices, but I think it's quicker and easier to make more informed decisions. The prices and specials are the same as what's advertised in the weekly circular. The only disadvantage with shopping this way is when it comes to produce/perishables. You obviously get what you get, so sometimes it's a heavily bruised fruit/veggie. If a product is not available for some reason, there's a note that's attached to your final receipt that indicates the deviations/substitutions. We've tried Wegman's delivery service once and was pleasantly surprised with how the personal shopper constantly updated us with real-time texts and pictures of what was out of stock and what substitutes were available. We didn't get that level of service with HT Express Lane, but perhaps HT Delivery service does. It's not really that big of a deal for us anyway.
