Ice cream and a kind lady with directions to the covered bridge. Great little shop tucked off the Main Street - pizza at the pizza chef and then a stop in here for ice cream made the kids fall in love with the foliage drive to Windsor!

On top of having a great name, Friends & Company is a great little store with friendly staff and a lot of character. The maple soft serve ice cream drew us in and fully lived up to it's promise. The maple flavor was just right, not overpowering or overly sweet. The staff member we met could not have been more friendly or helpful to both us and other customers, chatting with us and answering our questions about the hard serve ice cream flavors and sizes. If you're feeling adventurous, you can even combine hard and soft serve! She kindly shared information on the lovely town of Windsor, the birthplace of Vermont, and advised us on hiking trail options up the mountain.

We had just gotten off the highway and stopped in to Rite Aid to pick up a few things. We had time to kill before heading to our Airbnb for the weekend when my mom got a hankering for ice cream. We saw the sign out front for ice cream so we headed in. Turns out it was just a clothing store with a single ice cream machine in the corner. The only flavor available was maple, which sounded great to me but my mom was less enthused. The woman working seemed perturbed that we were there and asking for cones but I frankly did not care. My mom said she could barely taste the maple whereas I thought the flavor was good but not overwhelming. I browsed the store while eating my itty bitty $1 cone (my mom got a larger size), and the employee made no effort to ask if I needed any help or was looking for anything special - probably assuming we had only come for the ice cream. I might've picked up a souvenir for my godson but didn't really want to be in there anymore, so I joined my mom at the small table out front while she finished her cone. Not sure if we caught this person on a bad day or what, but it was an awkward experience.
