Staying at the Mad River Inn contributed to making our weekend in Waitsfield such a pleasant time. It's a beautiful inn in a quiet location, but still very accessible to the downtown and the ski areas. The views from the inn are so pleasant. The breakfasts made by the couple, Susanne and Brandon, are excellent and cooked with care. There are always wonderful home made cookies on hand ...and beverages available.
If you like conversation the hosts are accessible and very interesting to talk with. I found it enjoyable that the hosts have a little family and a dog. If you are interested in being more private, that can be an option there too. The rooms are comfortable and beautifully decorated. We had a suite for our adult family of 3. The dining room and living room area are lovely and welcoming. We could not have been more pleased. 5 stars for sure!

We've stayed at the Mad River Inn numerous times; it's our go to spot when we're hiking or skiing nearby. Brandon and Susannah are wonderful hosts, cook great breakfasts, and ensure the whole experience is classic Vermont welcoming and cozy.

The owners are extremely accommodating attentive and polite. Very knowledgeable when it comes to local places to go for food drinks and entertainment. Very close to mad river glen and sugarbush, about 15 minutes, as well as a manageable drive to downtown stowe. Overall could not be more pleased with the experience.

I had a wonderful stay at the Mad River Inn for my ski trip. The made-to-order breakfast was the highlight with different delicious options each morning. I stayed in the Grafton room which had a very comfortable bed and great mountain views. They also have a nice hot tub on the patio which was very enjoyable after a day of skiing. Would highly recommend!

I had such a wonderful time staying here, the couple who run the B&B are so welcoming and fun to talk to. Breakfast was amazing, we requested breakfast sandwiches and I think it was one of the best I’ve ever had. Was super stoked about the hot tub, and the endless snacks, coffee, and tea were a great perk too. I could not recommend this place enough, you have to stay here!

We made a last minute decision to ski at Sugarbush and after some searching selected the Mad River Inn for two couples. We selected an option for two rooms. When we arrived Susannah offered an alternative arrangement with two separated rooms each with access to a bathroom at the same rate we booked. This was very thoughtful and appreciated. She recommended options for dinner and showed us around the beautiful and historic Inn giving some history and interesting background. We enjoyed a game of billiards in the game room. In the morning she prepared omelets for breakfast. There was also an impressive selection of teas and coffee. There were many nice touches; comfortable beds, rooms each decorated with beautiful antiques, home baked snacks, cold picture of fruited water and more. We highly recommend this stop, and will come back with a larger group in the future.

The Mad River Inn is exactly what we wanted from a Vermont B&B. A fantastic location, glorious view every morning with an excellent warm breakfast, and a wonderful family of innkeepers who run the operation. If you're looking for a cozy, classic Vermont B&B experience, this is it!

This place is run by some of the most friendly and hospitable people I’ve ever met.I had a bad slip and fall while hiking the Long Trail and severely sprained my ankle. Brandon and Susannah waited for me at the trail head as I hiked down in the dark and put me up in their lovely inn (in one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in) for the evening. Helped me get my gear sorted, find transportation to the airport, and made an incredible breakfast for me and the other guests.I’m back home now and recovering and feeling really grateful for and inspired by their generosity.

There are many choices of B&B's in the Mad River Valley but the one you should stay in is The Mad River Inn. Every detail has been thought of - from the amazing breakfast, comfortable and beautiful rooms to the delicious cookies that are baked every day for guests. The owners - Susanna and Brandon, take personal care and give great customer service so you feel totally at home. Highly recommended!

I was in Vermont for a wedding at the end of May so I can't speak to the location in terms of proximity to outdoor activities, but it was a great location in terms of ease of access and being easy to find. Hospitality was really good. I loved the tea cup and saucer selection and big drawer full of teas. It was nice sitting in the living room area and being social with the owner/operators and other guests. For those with allergies, there is a (wonderfully friendly) dog that roams the B&B.
