Not truthful or just a bad day? I popped into Von Bargen's Jewelry a bit after noon today and asked if they worked on watches. I have a unique metal watch that needed a couple of clips/panels of the wristband removed.
The owner told me that they didn't service watches. I asked if there was anybody nearby they recommended and she told me that "nobody in the Stowe area works on watches. The most nearby place is TickTock in Burlington." I thanked her and left but couldn't quite believe that nobody in Stowe would service watches. On my way out of town, I stopped at Ferro (another jeweler down the road) and lo and behold, they were super kind and altered my watch for me on the spot! Thank you, Patrick.
I then asked the owner of Ferro's if there was any reason the blonde lady at Von Bargen's told me there wasn't anybody in town would work on watches. He seemed puzzled for a bit and then said that she sends anybody asking for "watch work" their way.
Hm. Not sure why I was sent to Burlington vs. 100 yards down the road.
It's unfortunately because the jewelry in the display cases looked stunning but based on my experience earlier, I'd rather spend my money elsewhere.

I highly recommend Von Bargens for any of your jewelry needs. The staff is professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. Nicole has recommended many items based on my personal style. They carry many unique designers and pieces you won’t find everywhere. If something isn’t in the store, they’re more than happy to get something comparable in. They are my go-to jewelry store in Stowe!

Disgusting people that priced a solid gold bracelet at 10k for a five once bracelet… and when I asked why they marked it up 50% they said there was another jewelry store down the road. They judged based on my appearance but didn’t realize I know everyone in town including Ferro jewelry who was happy to help me. Explains why the store was empty… pathetic

We have purchased several gorgeous pieces of art during the last few years from this wonderful store. The staff have been knowledgeable, extremely helpful and always hospitable. The artists’ work they carry makes every visit feel like you are in an art gallery, not only a store.

My experience with Von Bargens was nothing short of incredible. We purchased both my engagement ring and wedding band here with the help of the knowledgeable and welcoming staff. We recommend VBJ Stowe to all of our friends and family and continue to shop there to this day. We even stop in from time to time just to say hello! I cannot recommend VBJ Stowe enough. Fantastic service and lovely staff!

This place is amazing! I cannot tell you how many times I have purchased jewelry here, every time I walk in the door, and I am greeted like family! I have shopped at many other places, but I can honestly say I have found a place that feels like home.Their jewelry is truly unique and different than other places that I have shopped and followed up by wonderful customer service!I love how they support local designers and that this is a Vermont family run company owned ... You will not be disappointed!

I have gotten 3 wonderful rings from Von Bargen's. I am allergic to Cooper, which rules out yellow gold, silver, and rose gold. White gold I have to have replated every 2 years. They replace my 2 white gold rings for me and do an excellent job. My 3 Sarah Graham rings are steel and safe for me. I am local and buying myself a ring is a special treat I only get to do every few years and they are kind, polite and recognize me by name every time. I've even gotten to meet Sarah Graham twice! They are the only store I purchase jewelry from! Photo is off my 3 rings, tip I've had for 5 years, middle is brand new and bottom is somewhere in between. They all start off black and as you wear them they black wears off, which is my favorite thing!

My husband and I had the pleasure to be introduced to the Stowe Von Bargen's and the amazing staff this past June when we went in with my brother and sister in law, who have been customers for a few years. We were greeted and cared for as if we were the ones who returning customers! Although we didn't go in for anything specific, Nicole asked a few questions about my tastes and happily suggested I try on a few different pieces. We felt no pressure at all, yet received so much information about the pieces, their origin, etc. I left with some new knowledge about jewelry that is much appreciated. We love that this isn't a cookie cutter jewelry store and will definitely return on our next trip to Stowe. You won't find nicer or more caring people!
