I am an Interior designer in Boston, and find myself always making excuses to take trips to Stowe just to see what’s new in this store! Love Cheryl and everything we’ve purchased.

My friends and I tried to visit this shop frequently during our 5 day visit to Stowe. We stopped by everyday at different times, called and left messages, to no avail. The shop was never open. The owner clearly showed up at some point as delivered packages were picked up, the porch decorations changed and all the light remained on. Update your website and information on your door to reflect accurate information. Fortunately, there were many other fabulous, reliable shops to spend our money at.

I’ve been coming to Vermont to summer for the past 8 years, and this summer I was finally able to come into this shop. Not because I never have time to come by, but because it’s always closed. The hours posted are not consistent. That wasn’t an issue for me, but I did have an issue with how the owner greets you when you walk in. She didn’t seem very welcoming, almost dismissive which surprised me. She asked right away if I was a local, and once I responded she told me not to break anything. I understand the effects the pandemic has had on shops, and I wouldn’t knowingly walk into a store sick or disrupt a business on purpose by breaking items. The owner seems distrustful of anyone she doesn’t know and it doesn’t make for a great customer service experience.

I tried coming to this store twice and both times the owner made an excuse to not let me and my family in. First time she said the.store wasn’t quite open. It was 3:58 pm, there were lovely items on display on the porch, the store was lit with everything in its place. I was do disappointed because the store looked so inviting but I decided to return the next day. On the next day, I returned with my husband and daughters. We looked on the porch and had made some selections to purchase. My daughter tried walking in and the owner came to the door and told us the store was only open by appointment and almost pushed her back when she closed the door and locked it. There was no mention of appointments on the door and no mention of it the day before when she sent me away. Needless to say this is a lovely store with beautiful pieces inside and out….unfortunately I wasn’t able to see them all for myself because my family and I were not welcomed. I hate to say that he word discrimination but I sensed it and it did not feel right. No one should feel what I just felt. Tomorrow will be another day and Stowe, VT is full of lovely stores with inviting sweet salespersons and I will feel like pretty woman…”big mistake”. U hurt with the wrong family. Please know this before you go and let us know how it goes for you. My advice is to just stay away.

I could not agree more with Raul's review. My friend and I tried to come into Chalet Life this afternoon. The minute I walked through the door a woman informed me there were no drinks allowed in the store, I was carrying a coffee, I let her know I would throw it out and come back. She then asked in a demeaning tone if I had been to the store before, I informed her I had not, she then said "yes, I don't recognize you, I'm only serving regulars right now" and motioned for my friend and I to leave, she did not apologize, or suggest a time to come back, she made it quite clear we were not welcome. We left feeling embarrassed and confused, as there there were no signs indicating the store was open by appointment only. I came to Chalet Life with some reservations, I am a local and had heard unsavory stories about the customer service at Chalet Life. I will not be returning and was saddened to see I was not the only one who has experienced this treatment. There are a million other amazing places to buy overpriced antiques in Vermont, don't waste your time here.

We had the best time today with Cheryl, spent over two hours combing her wares, visiting with Lilly her dog and handling all the goodies far and wide. Lusciousness in every turn, like being transported into the best design market, from jewelry, to fur vests, to statues you would never find in Vermont. Cheryl was very kind, very open to tell us where things came from, what century and their rich history. It was such a treat for those who have an eye for nice, eclectic items, out of the ordinary things; for those with discerning taste. Be sure to look at the front porch before you go in, there is something to delight all senses!

Stellar place to see items from all over the world. The owner has a great knowledge and taste of the items they buy for the shop and styling them up to showcase each treasure.

I visited this store while my parents were in town and were drawn in by the big wooden elk on the front porch. We immediately fell in love with the store, and while there are many items in there, everything was well organized and displayed beautifully. The owner has another shop in Stowe that we had been to, which is just as beautiful. Her background in fashion design shows through her creativity to make new items out of vintage textiles. The owner was very welcoming and accommodating to my family, and seems negotiable on prices. She certainly has a passion for her business and unique niche in Stowe!
